a solution would be to composite the date over the photo with Graphics 
Magick, Image Magick.

I hope it does not break on webcams with limited set of operational
modes/resolutions, like those CPIA things.

I still wait for a webcam daemon which can open ONE ssh connection and
refresh the picture through this connection. I tried camE a while ago,
it allways tried to spawn a new ssh connection, which needs some seconds
to be established, of course...
