Ich habe hier ein 8500 mit 16:10. Darin steckt das:

:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV28 [GeForce4 Ti 4200 Go 
AGP 8x] (rev a1)

und es laeuft hier unter gentoo, 2.6.7-mm-sources mit nvidia
Treibern 5336, xfree 4.3.0.1 mit 1680x1050 bei dieser config:
