Aproveitando o gancho, coloco as minhas dificuldades...
1º Adicionei a linha deb
http://people.debian.org/~blade/woody/i386 ./
em meu source.list, e rodei um apt-get update &&
apt-get upgrade, assim atualizei o Xfree para 4.2.1

Fiz o mesmo mas nada atualizou e ainda continuo com o XFree 4.1 (ver acima).
2º Adcionei o repositorio do gnome 2.2, deb
http://mirrors.evilgeniuses.org.uk/debian/backports/woody
gnome2.2/ e deb-src
http://mirrors.evilgeniuses.org.uk/debian/backports/woody
gnome2.2/, apt-get update.
Coloquei o repositório ftp.acc.umu.se... mas não consigo instalar o gdm2, como
pode ser visto.
3º Ai começa os paus !!! Se eu deixo o repositorio do
debian stable na source.list ftp.debian.org ao rodar
um apt-get install gnome-core gdm gtk2-engines* o apt
tenta instalar o gnome 1.4, qdo eu retiro a linha do
stable do source tenho problemas de dependencias, apt
solicita o arquivo :
