In Portuguese the usage "..." means etc.  Etc, from latim "et cetera",
which means literally "and the others" but meaning the other which are
similars.
It also can be used to mark a phrase where your talk fades away, like "I so
tired...", which is basically the same principle as "!" to express
excitement.

But there is a usage meaning like poker face.  That's in a dialogue context
like this:

- Did you do the backup?
- Yes.
- Where is it?
- I saved all data into /dev/null to save space.

Hi,

As much as I love free software, I also need to consider how to make things
more active.

We can have IRC, Matrix, Mastodon, Diaspora, etc.  But the last two Debian
meetups I hosted nobody from this mailing list showed up.  So we are
talking about an empty audience.  And worse: during the events, nobody was
using Debian in their laptops (me included).

And everything is definitely mobile nowadays.  Telegram isn't an attempt to
hijack this mailing list or any other communication media, but to increase
the possibilities.  Even for newcomers.

BTW I use the free software client named "plus" to access Telegram.

Hi,

For the ones planning to attend the Debian Day tomorrow at Ericsson, I was
able to get a better place with much more space.

I updated info on https://wiki.debian.org/DebianDay/2018/Sweden/Stockcholm

But we still have no agenda - not a formal.  So it will based on lightning
talks.

So far what we have is:

 * Debian history

If more people attend, I would like to discuss the possibility to have a
mini DebConf also, which would demand some more organization.

So hope to see you tomorrow here.

Newcomer bugs

Hi,

Reading DPN, Debian Project News, I stumbled upon a interesting topic: bugs
classified as newcomers.   I nice way to start contributing to Debian and
learn the packaging system.

Since the workload drops a lot during at the office during the Summer, I'm
considering submit a few patches to correct such packages.

Newcomer bugs

Debian has a "newcomer" bug tag, used to indicate bugs which are
suitable for new contributors to use as an entry point to working on
specific packages. There are 215 [52] bugs available tagged "newcomer".

Hi Karl,

Thanks for the tip.

I just enforced Alt+w to be å using:

xmodmap -e "keycode 25 = w W aring Aring aring Aring"

Not it is just a matter to add it into my .xinitrc.  Not sure nowadays the
desktop environments read it, but at the least it will be saved in some
place I can easily find.


And thanks Staffan for the tip also, but as Karl mentioned, it doesn't
work.  The result is: óá (using us-international).

Stupid question about Debian keyboard keys and Swedish alphabet

Hi,

It is probably a dumb question for most of people here but... I do have all
my keyboards in English.  I can use it to write in English and Portuguese,
where I can create characters like "ç" using +"," or '+c.  For é,
'+e.  For ô, ^+o.

Some Swedish characters do work fine, like ö and ä using "+[a,o], but
unfortunately not for å.

I couldn't find so far  way to generate it.  So that's my question.

Does anybody know how to create the "å" using or composition keys or 
on Linux em general?

Did you try the upgrade from Jessie to Stretch on raspberrypi?   I tried
before from Wheezy to Jessie, but it ended destroying the system in a way
that I had to reinstall by image usage.

Hi,

I would like see actually a strong community support.  It means decisions
about speakers, install fests or not, workshops, etc.

I can secure (or at the least try) the venue, which would be in Ericsson
premises if ok to the management, but I really want to be community
driven.  From a community to a community.

I can run a debian package workshop, but we need more than that to have a
full day.

I still pursuing to have Ericsson premises hosting some Debian event for
the full day, but so far it was possible to start with a meetup about
CI(Continuous Integration)/Jenkins.

If I have one regret from my 18 years in Debian, it's that when the Debian
constitution was originally proposed, despite seeing it as dubious, I
neglected to speak out against it. It's clear to me now that it's a toxic
document, that has slowly but surely led Debian in very unhealthy
directions.
