Bug#91972: ITP: casu -- Communications And Status Utilities
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist The CaSU consists of 2 utilities written by Luke Mewburn (the author of 'lukemftp', the NetBSD enhancements to the BSD ftp program), who wrote these to be used on the systems here at RMIT University. to - sends a short message to another user (rather like write(1)) flon - lists your friends who are logged on 'to' is sort of a hybrid of write and finger (no remote support though, although the author did have this in mind at one stage). You can also 'exclude' individual users from sending you messages using ~/.torc (ie. without doing 'mesg n'). 'flon' uses ~/.friends to find if your friends are logged on to the system. Beats using who | grep '(friend1|friend2|...)' anyday. License is GPL. CaSU is available from: ftp://ftp.cs.rmit.edu.au/pub/utils/casu-3.3.3.tar.gz Thanks, Timshel -- Timshel Knoll for Debian email: Geomatics/Computer Science double degree, RMIT Debian GNU/Linux developer, see http://people.debian.org/~timshel/ For GnuPG public key: finger pgptXpV6V9RVO.pgp Description: PGP signature
Bug#90828: [btb@debian.org: Re: lintian and plugins, again]
I know this was just recently discussed, so I'll make it quick. I have a package just about ready to upload, but for the errors lintian gives, because it uses .so plugins. It puts them in it's own subdirectory, but lintian still complains because policy doesn't define what is a shared library and what is not. Is there any objection to making this change to policy? In the meantime, I suppose I need an override. Do overrides hae to be pre-approved, or can I just add it to my package? -brad
Bug#91980: RFP: trustees -- Linux Trustees (ACL) project
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist http://trustees.sourceforge.net This software is (c) V.L. Zavadsky, 1999-2000 This software is covered by GPL. From the README: -- The main goal of Linux trustees project is to create an advanced permission management system for linux. In fact, UNIX permission system is not suitable for solution of very common tasks. E.g., let a system administrator wants to create a directory that available for some groups in write mode, for another groups - in read only. The files in the directory and subdirectories should inherits the parent's behavior, unless other is stated explicitly. Using standard UNIX (and linux) security model it is generally speaking impossible to implement the situation when different groups have read/write and read/only permissions. This issue can be resolved by ext2-fs ACL project, but the problem is that nobody wants to copy mask or ACLs from parent directory to subdirectories either by hands or using special scripts. Using the trustees, you can resolve this problems just typing [/device]/path:+group1:REBX [/device]/path:+group2:RWEBX [/device]/path/dir1:+group3:RWEBX [/device]/path/dir2:+group4:RWEBX -- I think the trustees package should be splitted into two binary packages: kernel-patch-trustees -- the patch for kernel trustees -- the settrustee command with init.d script I didn't have any experiences with building kernel patch package. -- Piotr Roszatycki, Netia Telekom S.A..''`. mailto: : :' : mailto: `. `' `-

Bug#92043: ITP: libsasl-nonus-mit -SASL crypto plugins compiled against MIT Kerberos
package: wnpp severity: wishlist Hi. I will be packaging a version of the Cyrus SASL library that will build libsasl-gssapi-mit and libsasl-krb4-mit for non-us. These will be Kerberos SASL modules built against MIT Kerberos instead of Heimdal. I have talked to the current libsasl-modules-nonus maintainer, and he is aware of this and we have discussed how to handle the naming issues. The GSSAPI plugins are mostly interoperable between MIT and Heimdal, although some versions of Heimdal do not currently support the 3DES GSSAPI that MIT has been shipping.
