Bug#95827: ITP: gsfonts-wadalab-{common,mincho,gothic}
Package: wnpp Serverity: wishlist These pacakges are providing Postscript Type1 fonts for Japanese which is usable with Ghostscript 6.5 or later. gsfonts-wadalab-common has glyphs of several symbols such as punctuations or braces for both of horizontal/vertical writing. gsfonts-mincho has glyphs of kana/kanji characters in a kind of "Serif" font. gsfonts-gothic has glyphs of kana/kanji characters in a kind of "Sans Serif" font. Upstream maintainer is [EMAIL PROTECTED], and the original archives are available at ftp://ftp.ipl.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/Font/kanji/ License information in the README file: If you as an individual use the distribution as font as such, or convert it, there is no necessity to inform the Wadalab group. But in case you redistribute it, we request you kindly to forward a note to ftp.ipl.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp with the additional information of what has been altered. At that location we also plan to store the upgrade, to give the user the possibility to receive always the latest version. In case you want to point out mistakes in the outline of Kanjis or are not satisfied with the poor design, please do not hesitate to contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] In Japanese README file, the same license is written, and it does not require to contact the author/maintainer when someone wish to redistribute it. It just requires that: 1) add a note which explains that the distributed fonts are derived from wadalab fonts which is distributed at ftp.ipl.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp 2) if the redistribution is the modified one from the original font archives, then provide some documentations which explain the changes/modifications from the original font archives. And License in Japanese explicitly permit the usage and redistribution not only for individuals, but also for any institutes, organizations, and companies. (I'll contact the upstream maintainer to ask the improvement on the English translation of that license). I think this can go to main as DFSG compliant. Regards. -- Taketoshi Sano: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Bug#95807: ITP: zsnes -- Free Super Nintendo emulator
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist I intend to package zsnes, an SNES emulator. zsnes (http://www.zsnes.com) has a DOS heritage, but early this month the source code was released under the GPL and it was immediately ported to SDL. Once the Linux version is officially released (which should be in a matter of days), I plan to upload my package. I will upload the package to main. Many have suggested that it will need to go in contrib because Debian doesn't include SNES games. I find this argument absurd, and could waste a lot of time fighting it, but instead plan to bundle a small, free demo ROM in /usr/share/doc/examples to work around the issue. Note that zsnes will be the first free SNES emulator available in Debian. Source: zsnes Section: otherosfs Priority: optional Maintainer: Aaron Lehmann <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Build-Depends: debhelper (>> 3.0.0), nasm, libsdl1.2-dev, zlib1g Standards-Version: 3.5.2 Package: zsnes Architecture: i386 Depends: ${shlibs:Depends} Description: Emulator of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (TM) ZSNES allows you to play classic games writen for the "SNES" game console on a GNU/Linux system. . Please note that many of these games are non-free. See /usr/share/doc/zsnes/README.Debian for more information. And here's README.Debian so far: zsnes for Debian The zsnes package is not portable to non-i386 architectures because of the fact that most of it is writen in i386 assembly. zsnes itself is available under the GNU GPL. However, almost all of the "ROMs" that it is designed to run are distributed under stricter licenses, which may not permit redistribution. We advise you to pay attention to license information when obtaining such software. Debian claims no responsibility for any illegal usage of third-party software under zsnes. -- Aaron Lehmann <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, Sat, 28 Apr 2001 22:51:31 -0700
