Bug#122387: ITP: apt-show-versions - Lists availlable package versions with

2001-12-04 Thread Christoph Martin
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

apt-show-versions parses the dpkg status file and the APT
lists for the installed and availlable package versions
and distribution and shows upgrade options within the
specific distribution of the selected package.

This is really usefull if you have a mixed stable/testing
environment and want to list all packages which are from
testing and can be upgraded in testing.

This is a perl script I wrote. You can have a look at it at:

Bug#122393: RFP: omni -- 300+ printer drivers using ghostscript engine

2001-12-04 Thread David D. Kilzer
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

Omni is licensed under the LGPL. It his a printer driver model being
developed by IBM. Home page is here:

Soureforge project is here:

  http://sourceforge.net/projects/omniprint/

Tarballs may be downloaded here:

Requires ghostscript 5.50 or 6.50+. gs-6.51 is currently in Debian
unstable.

Latest version is 0.5.1. Note that I had problems building this version
on Debian potato and had to revert to 0.5.0. (I didn't have time to
create a patch to fix the errors.) See bug #487685 on Sourceforge for
details.

Bug#80147: ITP: gsmssend -- GNOME/GTK user interface for SmsSend

2001-12-04 Thread Andrew Lau
Followup-For: Bug #80147
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2001-12-05

I have already finished packaging gsmssend_1.7 for Debian GNU/Linux
for my new mainter's application. This package depends upon skyutils1
and skyutils-dev (1.15 for both) which was pending distribution on
http://incoming.debian.org at the time of writing this.

Name: GNOME SmsSend
Author: Eric Lassauge [EMAIL PROTECTED]
URL:http://lassauge.free.fr/smssend/en_gsmssend.htm

License:GNU Public License (v2)
Description:
GNOME SmsSend is a user interface to SmsSend, a tool which allows you
to send short messages to any GSM mobile through their provider's web
 site.
 .
GNOME SmsSend will detect each provider's respective script file
from SmsSend's preference directory or its global defaults and create
a tab in its user interface for each one. GNOME SmsSend will then fork
or execute smssend with the proper options to send the SMS message
 you input into it.
 .
It also provides a link to SmsSend's homepage where you
can download the required script (if available) for your GSM provider
if it is not already provided with the SmsSend package.

Yours sincerely,
Andrew Netsnipe Lau

Bug#97234: Debian Packaging of Subversion

db3 is priority: required and is therefore frozen for the woody release.
with 5 days to go until everything which depends on it is locked down,
i'm less than keen on touching it.

FWIW, the db3.3-3.3.11 packages at people.debian.org/~dwhedon/debian/
were put together so that they can co-exist with the current db3
packages in much the same way that the db2 packages can co-exist
with the db3 pacakges. With that in mind it isn't a question of
touching db3, rather the question is do we add db3.3 packages to the
archive. I understand if you don't want to do that.

Subversion will make its way into Debian shortly after these
dependancies. With this mail I am poking the respective maintainers
  to see where we stand.

No subversion for woody. I'll get db 3.3 sorted out once woody is out
 of the way.

I see where you are coming from. I would, however, like to make
subversion available soon if possible. I can just leave the packages
on people.debian.org, though there has been some discussion of moving
them to experimental.

 c-cpp-reference - C and C++ reference for KDevelop
Closes: 122187
Changes:
 c-cpp-reference (2.0-1) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * Initial Release. (Closes: #122187)
   * Basically took the source, built it like any other KDE package using
the debian rules perl script from kdelibs making sure we install into
/usr/share/doc/kde/HTML instead of /usr/share/doc/HTML and also
making sure we don't compress any of this stuff.
   * Yes I did package this back along time ago for kde.tdyc.com stuff but
I decided to just do this from scratch to make it cleaner
   * Lintian error free (currently)
   * Binary-Indep only package so no worries about it not building on other
 archs.

* URL : http://www.phys.uu.nl/~romans/

Matrem is a computer program that simulates life. It belongs to the emerging
science of artificial life, which studies evolution and complex systems in
general by simulation. Matrem is also a game, where players compete to create
the fittest lifeform. Their efforts are the driving force behind the program.

The author doesn't make a clear statement about the license, I'm waiting for a
response. It will probably be a DFSG compliant license.

You can find the package at ftp://sliepen.warande.net/pub/matrem/.

DBD::Sybase is a perl module which works with the DBI module to provide
access to Sybase and Microsoft SQL databases. It uses FreeTDS, an LGPL
implementation of Sybase's OpenClient Unix libraries.

License: GPL/Artistic License, plus an anti-commercial clause which
fails the DFSG. I will speak with author about the possibility of
making the license DFSG-free.

Geometry optimization, molecular dynamics and a large set of
visualization tools using OpenGL are currently available.
 .
Ghemical relies on external code to provide the quantum-mechanical
 calculations. Semi-empirical methods MNDO, MINDO/3, AM1 and PM3 come
from the MOPAC7 package (Public Domain), and are included in the
 package.
 .
The project started as a freeware molecular modelling package, but
since the graphical user interface part of the package is quite
advanced and clearly written (according to our own biased view, at
least), the package now aims to become a common framework for molecular
 modelling programs generally.

If nobody objects, I will upload ghemical_0.81-1 in a couple of days.

Michael

CMake is used to control the software compilation process using
simple platform and compiler independent configuration files. CMake
generates native makefiles and workspaces that can be used in the
compiler environment of your choice. CMake is quite sophisticated: it
is possible to support complex environments requiring system
configuration, pre-processor generation, code generation, and
 template instantiation.

CMake was developed by Kitware as part of the NLM Insight
Segmentation and Registration Toolkit project. The ASCI VIEWS project
also provided support in the context of their parallel computation
environment. Other sponsors include the Insight, VTK, and VXL open
 source software communities.

See URL http://public.kitware.com/CMake/
This will end up being depended upon by future packaging of VTK.

Upstream Sponsors:

Insight Consortium, ITK is the original sponsoring project for

Kitware, Inc. - Kitware personnel, primarily Bill Hoffman, Ken

A typing practice game for X similar to typespeed and tuxtype.

The license is GPL.

Download it here:

http://www.seul.org/edu/packages/xletters

What distinguishes it from typespeed is that it runs under X, whereas
typespeed is console-based. What distinguishes it from the tuxtype
is it is considerably more lightweight (i.e. pure X, non-SDL) so it
works better on very low end platforms on which SDL sucks.

Long description:

CSL is a plain C implementation without further dependancies, that
provides
a common API for handling sound I/O.
It is intended to supply application programmers with a convenient way
to
produce/record sound and configure sound ouptut modalities regardless of
the
actual backend being used.

A brief introduction of how CSL fits into the current GNOME architecture
can be found at:

Right now it depends on arts, in the future that should be optional. I
am not sure if the name libcsl0 is correct, as I couldn't find Debian's
policy on naming packages.

I also need to find a sponsor/advocate to check the packages as I am not
yet an official Debian developer.

Thank you very much!

Priority: optional

Installed-Size: 120
Source: csl
Version: 0.1.2-1
Depends: libcsl0 (= 0.1.2-1), libc6-dev
Description: CSL - Common Sound Layer development headers

Long description:

CSL is a plain C implementation without further dependancies, that
provides
a common API for handling sound I/O.
It is intended to supply application programmers with a convenient way
to
produce/record sound and configure sound ouptut modalities regardless of
the
actual backend being used.
.
