It uses libavifile (see http://divx.euro.ru) and some code from kwintv (see
[EMAIL PROTECTED])

-- System Information
Debian Release: 3.0

Bug#134961: O: kernel-patch-kiobuf -- Stephen Tweedie's kiobuf (formerly raw-io) patch

2002-02-20 Thread Yann Dirson
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-02-21
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the kernel-patch-kiobuf package - I don't need it
any more. It was needed for LVM patches on 2.2, which are no more
supported.

The package description is:
This package contains Stephen Tweedie's kiobuf patch to the Linux
kernel, packaged fur use with make-kpkg. This patch is needed for
 various other kernel patches.
 .
Included is also version 2.2.17 of the patch, known as raw-io then.

Bug#134915: ITP: openmosix -- A fork from the current mosix packages

Because there are 2 forked versions.
Some people might want to stick with the original, and others might
to use the new one.

I thought that the original mosix.com development might be closed from
now on, but that doesn't seem to be the case. So, I figured it might be
easier to just distribute a new version.

Currently, only the kernel patches are different, but I expect the userland
tools to start differing in a couple of months, and they would then be
2 different projects. openmosix aims to be a separte clustering effort with
its own direction in the future.

Saytime is a buggy old program, which could be replaced by a shell
script (using sox for output, and rsynth for generating the sound, for
example).

I thought of doing the reimplementation, however, it is so trivial,
that (imho) it does not qualify to be a Debian package.

If noone steps up within a short period of time, I'll request the
removal of this package.

Short story: cvs is no better off with me than without. I'll be here
for serious bugs and security issues, but it really needs a new
maintainer.

Anyone who has followed the cvs package in the last couple of years
knows that it has not been well-maintained, either before or after i
adopted it. I noticed that the package was effectively unmaintained
and broken in many ways. I took it over, planning to clean up its
Debconf abuses and make it a good Debian citizen again.

Unfortunately, shortly after taking it over my job changed
drastically. I have not had the time to work on Debian stuff that i
originally did, and the nature of my job leaves me wanting to stay
away from the computer during my precious free time. So, eight months
later, the cvs package is in no better shape.

I have fixed one trivial problem with the Debconf abuse, but that's
it. I have tried to fix the more serious bugs that have come across
and tried to close all the bogus ones. I have maintained it in only
the purest sense of the word; i have not made one real improvement in
the package.

Whoever steps forward, please contact me for a tar archive of my CVS
repository.

My package load is too high, and this is one of the ones which I don't use
any more myself so that a new set of caring hands might be a good idea.

No open Debian bugs, upstream ones are forwarded, and Lintian-clean.
