Bug#135617: ITP: picogui -- a lightweight client/server GUI system

2002-02-24 Thread Joshua Haberman
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-02-24
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: picogui
  Version : (not yet released)
Upstream Author : Micah Dowty <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (et al)
* URL : http://picogui.org
* License : GPL
  Description : a lightweight client/server GUI system
PicoGUI is a windowing system designed with hand-held computers and
low-powered desktops in mind. It aims to make optimal use of
whatever screen space is available in addition to using very
 few resources.

In my preliminary packages, I've come across one problem I don't know
how to fix: the rpath lintian warning [0]. This is caused by libtool,
and while I've received vague answers about LIBTOOL_IS_A_FOOL, my
searching didn't yield any definitive explanation of this topic. Here
is a sample:

   /bin/sh ../libtool --mode=link gcc-o pgedit pgedit.o -lpgui
   mkdir .libs
   gcc -o pgedit pgedit.o /usr/local/lib/libpgui.so -Wl,--rpath
   -Wl,/usr/local/lib -Wl,--rpath -Wl,/usr/local/lib

Any answers or pointers to information appreciated (the lintian warning
said to ask here).

Description: The ViewML Browser is a Web Browser still in development.
The ViewML Browser is a Web Browser aimed at producing a small memory
 footprint for embedded Linux Systems.
 .
It is based on KDE's kfm and fltk.

viewml was a promising project, when I first packages it, but the
developtment has totally stalled since end of august 2001. It has a very
ugly wrapper to convert the kde and qt calls to fltk. It has one open
bug (#119740: viewml: fails to build on ia64), but it is not very
usefull at the moment.

Hereby I propose viewml is completely removed from the debian archive.
If nobody adopts this package within the next 10 days, I'll file a bug
against ftp.debian.org.

Bye,
   Alain

I request an adopter for the pencam package. I do not own a camera which

thanks

I intend to adopt the hkgerman package and to maintain it in
coordination with the new German orthography package igerman98, which
I already maintain.

It is planned to migrate both packages to the new dictionaries-common
language selection mechanism as soon as possible.

The current maintainer of gatos, Johnie Ingram <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>,
seems not to actively maintain this package anymore. I'm therefore
orphaning it now. If you want to be the new maintainer, please take
it -- retitle this bug from 'O:' to 'ITA:', fix the outstanding bugs
and upload a new version with your name in the Maintainer: field and

Description: ATI All-in-Wonder TV capture software
The General ATI TV and Overlay Software (GATOS) suite for
capturing video. This package does not require kernel
 patches, and includes:
 .
   * xatitv: GUI TV-in-a-window application
GUI access to all GATOS functionality, save tv-out.
   * atitv: Simple text-mode program
Basic functionality to record video and toggle tv-out.
   * atitoppm:

This splits the output file for MPEG encoding.

Note that the version in Debian is really old. A new upstream version

current package uses altgcc; this should be fixed (hopefully with the
new upstream release).

Bug#135544: wnpp: ITP: minpack from netlib

2002-02-24 Thread James R. Van Zandt
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A
Severity: wishlist

I intend to package "minpack" from netlib, the optimization programs
using the methods of Levenberg-Marquardt (for nonlinear least-squares
problems) and Powell (for general root finding). So far I've needed
to make no changes to the FORTRAN code from netlib. I've
autoconfiscated, automakified, libtoolized, and added man pages and C
header files. My draft package names are "minpack1" for the shared
library and "minpack-dev" for the headers, static library, and docs.

Bug#135487: ITP: tams -- The Anomy sanitizer is what most people would call "an email virus scanner".

2002-02-24 Thread Adam Byrtek
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

The Anomy sanitizer is what most people would call "an email virus
scanner". That description is not totally accurate, but it does cover
one of the more important jobs that the sanitizer can do for you - it
can scan email attachments for viruses. Other things it can do:

* Disable potentially dangerous HTML code, such as javascript,
within incoming email.
* Protect you from email-based break-in attempts which exploit
bugs in common email programs (Outlook, Eudora, Pine, ...).
* Block or "mangle" attachments based on their file names. This
way if you don't need to recieve e.g. visual basic scripts, then you
don't have to worry about the security risk they imply (the ILOVEYOU
virus was a visual basic program). This lets you protect yourself and
your users from whole classes of attacks, without relying on complex,
resource intensive and outdated virus scanning solutions.

When I finish, it would close RFP #130638

Bug#135465: O: ts -- Yet another TeXShell for Linux

2002-02-24 Thread Michael Bramer
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-02-24

I intend to orphan the ts package.
The package description is:
ts is a TeX environment similar to the DOS-TeXShell by
Schlegelmilch. That is, you can use their short keys for editing (F3),
composing (F6), or showing (F8). The complete list of keys is shown
in the online help (press F1).

Bug#135466: RFA: mailleds -- It show new mails with the keyboard-leds

2002-02-24 Thread Michael Bramer
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-02-24
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the mailleds package.
The package description is:
The Program mailleds have set the SUID-Bit! Please check the source code!
 .
mailleds is a quiet, unobtrusive way to signify that you have
new mail: a user daemon to blink LEDs when there is new mail.
 .
This package don't have /usr/bin/xmailleds, because this don't work.
