yes.

At install time, you choose a main project for your configuration
backup (default: config)

>
> If so, how is this done?

after that you create a new host profile (make init) and a
subdirectory, which is the fqdn, is created.

Just curious, can you have slight variations in configuration
(eg. different hostname) for different hosts?

If so, how is this done?

Severity: wishlist

* Package name: pixelize
  Version : 0.9.2
  Upstream Author : Paul Wilkins <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://lashwhip.com/pixelize.html

  Description :

Pixelize is a program that will use many scaled down images to
try to duplicate, as closely as possible, another image.

Pixelize works by splitting up the image you want rendered (or
duplicated) into a grid of small rectangular areas. Each area
is analyzed, and replaced with an image chosen from a large
database of images. Pixelize tries to pick images that best
matches each area.

The upstream maintainer has abandoned this product. I contacted
debian-devel and no one some interested in picking this up. Since
there are bugs, and little chance (or demand) for them to be fixed, I
would like to orphan the package.

I suggest xtunes or freeamp as strong alternatives.

Excellent, this is a great piece of software which i had thought about
packaging but wondered due to its complexity. I use it for graphs on
hades.robster.org.uk aka the machine that runs debianplanet.org.

Some graphs can be seen at
http://www.robster.org.uk/cacti/graph_view.php?action=tree as you can
see they are very pretty and extremely configurable.

I wish you luck and note i will be using this package and submitting
many bugs if it is not in shape!

Cheers

Privoxy is a filtering, privacy-enhancing proxy server based on the
original Junkbuster code from Junkbusters Corporation
(http://www.junkbusters.com/). It features updated support for
HTTP/1.1, as well as the classic fine-grained filtering support for
graphics, cookies, pop-ups, content of pages, and access control. It is
especially useful for users on slower connections since it speeds up web
surfing by making it possible to avoid downloading bandwidth-consuming
Flash and banner advertisements.

  Description : graphical CD-creation/copying tool

At this site inofficial Debian packages are available.

Guessing from the description I consider this tool as a more
featureful and actively developed CD burning tool
compared with those available with Debian.

Kind regards

Qhull computes convex hulls, Delaunay triangulations, halfspace
intersections about a point, Voronoi diagrams, furthest-site
Delaunay triangulations, and furthest-site Voronoi diagrams. It
runs in 2-d, 3-d, 4-d, and higher dimensions.

Unless someone else volunteers, I'm planning to package the QHULL
library, and a couple thin included executables that give a pipe
interface to some of its functionality.

It has a BSD-ish license which easily meets the DFSG.

UncommonSQL (packaged as 'cl-uncommonsql') is a package providing nice
and easy database access in common lisp. It provides
object-to-relational mapping as well as reader macros for raw SQL
manipulation, etc.

URL: http://alpha.onshored.com/lisp-software/
Copyright: MIT

I've already completed packaging for this using
common-lisp-controlller, see the above URL.

MPEG-1 layer 2, like toolame or libavifile0.6 who are already on
unstable. I don't see any good reason do not include rte in unstable.

rpl is a UN*X text replacement utility. It will replace strings with
new strings in multiple text files.=20

-

Currently, I have already prepared an unofficial package, but I have
to work out some of the licensing terms with the author. It says
'cannot be sold for profit', but it isn't clear whether the software
is non-free in an aggregate project like Debian, or on it's own. I'm
going to bring this up in debian-legal.

Description : show X-Faces from slrn in X11 terminal emulator
The slrnface helper utility can be used from slrn news reader to show
X-Faces in Usenet articles when slrn is run from an X11 terminal
 emulator.

Personally think the same program can be used for other
newsreaders/mailreaders also. But I have to test that first :)

 Have fun,
Alfie

This is a GPL Flash (as in the Macromedia one =) player for Linux,
and includes a Netscape plugin, a Standalone player, and a screensaver
for KDE. The Flash player itself is a lib, and the source package
includes libjpeg and zlib, so some adjustment is necessary for a
sane dynamically linked build. Coming soon to an incoming near you. =)

Hi,

I intend to package amap, a network scanner that takes the results from an
nmap scan (or a simple hostname/port combination) and then probes the
specified port to see what protocols are running there (ignoring the port
number).

License is GPL, Download page is http://www.thehackerschoice.com/releases.php

Description:
AMaViS is a script that interfaces a mail transport agent (MTA) with
one or more virus scanners.

Copyright:
GPL for Amavis itself. YMMV for the virus scanners themselves, so I
guess this is destined for contrib. Some of the dependencies have icky
licenses[1], but I'm hoping I can work around them by using alternatives.

Original source:
http://www.amavis.org/

[1] arc is certainly not suitable for inclusion in Debian and freeze
doesn't have any mention of a license at all.

Yes it provides its own means to restore permissions and owner
information.
a .conf subdirectory is created in the host's directory. a file named
rights keeps all these information.

in fact, when a file is add in the current backup, cvs-conf retrieves
all information from the original file add adds it to the rights file.

I admit that I came up to fast with this description. I will improve that

I will take a closer look at the package now that I know you need a
sponsor, but from the time I've spent, it all looks fine. I'll build the
package on my machine and sign it with my key, but you will still be
listed as the maintainer in the Debian archive. This means that you will
receive bug reports and such. If that's all ok with you, I can probably
upload the package tomorrow.

Thank you very much ! I haven't found any sponsor yet, and I will be
happy to see this game in the archive.

Is there something that needs to be modified in the packaging ?

(cc-ing the bug to inform the BTS I have a sponsor)

Daniel> But please describe it in terms of what it offers, rather

PureFTPd has full-featured LDAP, MySQL, Postgres, PAM, and its own
"puredb" format support all built in. This allows for FTP users to be
authenticated through one or more of these distributed backends, which
is incredibly useful.

It's also the only FTP server I've found that has virtual quota
support through LDAP. I know, because I coded that part. *grin*

PureFTPd has an excellent set of log formats to choose from, which
work with any of a number of log parsers. It can also produce HTML
log reports directly.

Finally, PureFTPd is localized in several languages, which makes it
useful for worldwide communities.

"No known security flaws" is meaningless, anyway. If there was a known
security flaw in a program, I'd expect it to be fixed; *every* program
should be able to say this except for the (hopefully brief) periods
between bug discovery and bug fixing. (And "unlike other popular FTP
servers" frankly comes across to me as, well, petty.)

And "especially designed for modern Linux kernels" comes across negatively
to me--being designed for a specific kernel implies nonportable elements.
Design for modern Unixes; support individual kernel features as appropriate.

Bug#80993: Do you still want to package?

2002-03-29 Thread Jonas Smedegaard
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-03-29

Hi,

I have packaged migrationtools for my own purposes, and would like to publish
it to the rest of the world as well.

Do you still intend to package migrationtools, or can I do it?

If I get no response in a week I will take over packaging.
