The sourceforge approach is to place all of the projects in some bland
"open source surburbia", where all of the houses are alike, with only the
colors and minor style variations (which building plan was used for which
particular house) are allowed by the restrictive covenants and local
zoning laws. Sourceforege is the open source equivalent of the
subdivision in the movie "Edward Scissorhands".

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

My package load is too high, and this is one of the ones which I can't
look after as much as someone else might. The program is de facto orphaned
upstream as Akim devotes all his time to GNU autoconf. A dedicated C hacker
might even adopt this upstream if he showed good care. Debian has accumulated
a few patches which upstream has not incorporated.

No open Debian bugs, upstream ones are forwarded, and Lintian-clean (apart
from two warnings about missing man pages for two auxilliary utilities).

If there really is no copyright notice then we can't distribute it at
all. There's a note on the web page that suggests this package could go
into non-free:

   Cfg2html is provided "AS IS" - use at your own risk! Cfg2html is
   released as Freeware. That means you can use it for free or give it
   unmodified away but the copyright still belongs to me :--))

... but whoever decides to package this should probably get upstream to
put a more formal licence notice at the top of the script.

Cheers,

 Check mp3 files for consistency and print several errors and warnings. List
 stream attributes (color). Layer 1,2,3, mpeg1.0+2.0 are currently supported.
 CRC check for layer 3.

 with Napster and other bulk downloading of mp3s.

Bug#142845: O: zope-pygresqlda - A Zope Database Adapter for PostgreSQL

2002-04-14 Thread Gregor Hoffleit
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-04-14
Severity: normal

This package isn't maintained upstream since a long time; it has been
removed from woody, and I intend to file a bug report to remove it
completely. There are already to other Zope PostgreSQL DA in Debian
(zope-popyda and zope-psycopgda).

Bug#142840: O: mp3check -- Check mp3 files for consistency

2002-04-14 Thread Martin Michlmayr
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

The current maintainer of mp3check, Klaus Kettner <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, is
apparently not active anymore. Therefore, I orphan this package now.
If you want to be the new maintainer, please take it -- retitle this
bug from 'O:' to 'ITA:', fix the outstanding bugs and upload a new
version with your name in the Maintainer: field and a

   * New maintainer (Closes: #thisbug)

in the changelog so this bug is closed.

Some information about this package:

Package: mp3check
Priority: optional
Section: sound
Installed-Size: 260
Maintainer: Klaus Kettner <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Architecture: i386
Version: 0.5.2-1
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.1.2), libstdc++2.10
Suggests: mpg123
Filename: pool/main/m/mp3check/mp3check_0.5.2-1_i386.deb
Size: 75924
MD5sum: cbf2936008dfea816955bd31c5deaac4
Description: Check mp3 files for consistency
 Check mp3 files for consistency and print several errors and warnings. List
 stream attributes (color). Layer 1,2,3, mpeg1.0+2.0 are currently supported.
 CRC check for layer 3.
 .
 mp3check is very useful for incomplete mp3 detection as it can be used to scan
 through your mp3 collection and find all mp3s that aren't perfect. Good for use
 with Napster and other bulk downloading of mp3s.

Bug#142817: ITP: dchub -- dchub is a DC (Direct Connect) hub clone

2002-04-14 Thread Grzegorz Prokopski
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-04-14
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: dchub
  Version : 0.0.9
  Upstream Author : Eric Prevoteau <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://ac2i.tzo.com/dctc/
* License : GPL
  Description : dchub is a DC (Direct Connect) hub clone

 Currently, it is a early stage version. The most useful features are
 already here. The following features are available.
 .
 User commands:
  * relay active and passive search query
  * relay passive search result
  * nick list and op list
  * public chat message
  * private chat message
  * get user info
  * relay active and passive transfer query
  * registered user supported
  * broadcast message
  * redirect one user (using chat command, not DC menu)
  * kick a user
  * temporary or permanently ban a user
  * Multiuser private chat (=more than 2
* users in a private chat)
 .
 Hub control:
  * registered user supported (==password support)
  * hub registration on DC hub list
  * max #users
  * redirect incoming users on hub full
  * Perl script support (some sample scripts are provided,
including a working one handling minimum share requirements)
  * external program support (allows write of programs acting as virtual
  user on the hub)
  * hub network

It is simple package, but I want to polish it a bit before putting into
distro. It probably won't happen before woody. Early packages (not much
better than what You can get after running dh_make yourself) are at
http://debian.sente.pl/

Excerpt from sendmail's description:

 This package supports DB, NIS, NIS+, HESIOD, LDAP, DNS, and REGEX maps,
 is built with IPv6, TCPWrappers, SASL and liblockfile (for mail.local).
 Whilst the source has TLS (OpenSSL) support, binaries are *not* built
 with libSSL due to current US export regulations.

Perhaps a version with SSL support could also be supported which then resid=

in the non-US archives?

* Package name: rocks
  Version : 2.1
  Upstream Author : Victor C. Zandy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~zandy/rocks/

  Description : Make network sockets reliable in a transparent way

Rocks protect sockets-based applications from network failures,
particularly failures common to mobile computing, including:

 - Link failures (e.g., unexpected modem disconnection);
 - IP address changes (e.g., laptop movement, DHCP lease expiry);
 - Extended periods of disconnection (e.g., laptop suspension).

Rock-enabled programs continue to run after any of these events; their
broken connections recover automatically, without loss of in-flight
data, when connectivity returns. Rocks work transparently with most
applications, including SSH clients, X window applications, and network
service daemons.

You can find the package at ftp://sliepen.warande.net/pub/rocks/. I'd
like to hear if this is the best way to package it.
