Bug#122929: tramspap.pl, possible replacement for wpoison

2002-07-16 Thread Matthew Astley
If I'd known headers would be up on the BTS, I would have started with
the also-valid mail address above. 8-( Never mind.

No, I meant "pull down" in the sense of stealing the message-id and
subject line, really. I think I expected some different flavour of
confusion. 8-}

IMHO doing something moderately useful is likely to create better
publicity than insisting on getting links up all over.

For a change, it's not NTL. http://bugs.debian.org/133790   8-(

Oh whoops, I should've hit that with the browser first, rather than
taking reportbug's perspective (ie. first message only). D'ya think I
should file against reportbug? Seems a bit trigger-happy, but a "don't
forget to read the whole thing" warning might save some embarrassment
for someone.

No. I know a couple of maintainers, but I've not asked for
sponsorship. I don't know exactly what this requires them to do, or
what sort of standing they require. Will read stuff "later".

Also, I think "tramspap" should have a few more tricks up its sleeve
before being turned loose on the world. For example, I've just
discovered that any sort of multi-threaded crawler will very
effectively DoS the Apache by using up all eight threads. Oops.

I can't see a sane answer to this one. You _have_ to tie up the Apache
process while you're returning HTML at 1cps.

Perhaps the tarpitting aspect could be handled by a special Apache
module which accepts a bufferful of data and returns it slowly, while
still accepting the next connection?

It would appear to be valid to fork off some trivial process to handle
the squirt of data. All that's required is "feed this data out slowly,
until they go away or you run out of data". There's no reason to
accept input, provided the keep-alive has been disabled.

  Description : hard-core shoot 'em up game in blue-or-red world

 tenmado is a vertically scrolling, late 1990s style (that is, a massive
 number of enemy shots against a smaller-than-it-looks spaceship) shoot 'em
 up game. A very accurate collision detection makes it a game of
 dexterity. If something looks like a triangle, it is a triangle, not
 a rectangle of similar size.
 .
 However, surviving is only 20% of the game. The main feature of tenmado
 is the "color chain bonus". You can get a very big score (about 100 times
 bigger than a normal enemy-destruction point) by destroying enemies of
 the same color successively. It is easy or difficult depending on how
 greedy you are.

The BlueZ project is developing the Linux Bluetooth stack and associated
tools and utilities. The BlueZ kernel modules are likely to be in
kernel 2.4.19.

The utilities in this package allow basic operation of Bluetooth devices
attached to a Linux system.

Prototype packages are available at http://bluez.sf.net/download/debian

I'm not a Debian developer yet, but have found a sponsor for these

Bug#153006: Debian package for Eccp109

2002-07-16 Thread Robert Millan

Hello!

I've seen your project, Eccp109. It looks
quite interesting, and I'd like to create a
Debian package for the client you wrote,
which will hopefuly be included in the
Debian distribution.

By having your client in Debian, you'll
benefit from tracking of issues like
general bug-reporting, security auditing,
architecture and kernel portability, and
will recieve contributions from the Debian
project on those fields.

Our policy about licensing is very strict,
so there's a question that needs to be clarified
first:

What is the license of the client sources?
I found that some headers are licensed
under the GNU GPL, but others are undefined.
If the full sources are indeed GPL, could
you put a 'LICENSE' file to clarify it?

There's another important question. Does
your program contain any encryption algorithm
which exportation is forbidden by US laws?
There's no problem if it does, but I need
to know that for distribution reasons.

note: please keep the CC to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks for your attention.

This is great news. I gave up on wpoison because it had very unproper
license restrictions, and upstream wasn't maintaining it.

Nice. I prefer GPL much more than the BSDish license with advertising

Bug#146394: can't package because of licensing problems

2002-07-16 Thread Torsten Knodt
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hello,
the package was rejected by upstream because of licensing problems (modified
GPL). There was also a discussion in debian-legal because of this.
If someone is also interested to have the package in debian, the informations
in the mailing liste archive should be enough.

The package is apt-getable with
deb http://www.datas-world.de/linux/debian/apt/ ./
deb-src http://www.datas-world.de/linux/debian/apt/ ./
Currently, there are two version. One for unstable and one for experimental.
Some of the changes in experimental will soon go to unstable. Others will
remain their, until they work. For more informations, have a look at the
READMEs and TODOs.

If you have further ideas, suggestions or are trying to help with the legal
problem, please add a cc to the bug-report. I'm still interested in getting
the package in.

With kind regards

is nothing released yet. I will try to get it released quite soon (and

Bug#153150: ITP: libconfig-general-perl -- Generic Config Module

2002-07-16 Thread Dagfinn Ilmari Mannsåker
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-07-16
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: libconfig-general-perl
  Version : 2.06
  Upstream Author : Thomas Linden <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.cpan.org/authors/id/T/TL/TLINDEN/
* License : GPL/Artistic
  Description : Generic Config Module
   This module opens a config file and parses it's contents for
   you. The new method requires one parameter which needs to be a
   filename. The method getall returns a hash which contains all
   options and it's associated values of your config file.
   .
   The format of config files supported by Config::General is inspired
   by the well known apache config format, in fact, this module is
   100% compatible to apache configs, but you can also just use simple
   name/value pairs in your config files.
   .
   In addition to the capabilities of an apache config file it
   supports some enhancements such as here-documents, C-style comments
   or multiline options.

This module is needed by the upcoming limacute 2.0 packages by Tore Anderson.

A preliminary package can be found at http://www.ping.uio.no/~ilmari/debian/

Bug#153149: ITP: libuniversal-exports-perl -- Lightweight, universal exporting of variables

  Upstream Author : Michael G Schwern <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.cpan.org/authors/id/MSCHWERN/
* License : Unknown, waiting for answer from upstream
(probably standard Perl license).
  Description : Lightweight, universal exporting of variables
   This is an alternative to Exporter intended to provide a universal,
   lightweight subset of its functionality. It uses Exporter::Lite,
   so look there for details.
   .
   Also provided is UNIVERSAL::require, which lets you require() modules
   by doing
   .

Bug#153146: ITP: libexporter-lite-perl -- Lightweight subset of Exporter

2002-07-16 Thread Dagfinn Ilmari Mannsåker
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-07-16
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: libexporter-lite-perl
  Version : 0.01
  Upstream Author : Michael G Schwern <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
* URL : http://www.cpan.org/authors/id/MSCHWERN/
* License : GPL/Artistic
  Description : Lightweight subset of Exporter
   This is an alternative to Exporter intended to provide a lightweight
   subset of its functionality. It supports import(), @EXPORT and
   @EXPORT_OK and not a whole lot else.
   .
   Unlike Exporter, it is not necessary to inherit from Exporter::Lite
   (ie. no @ISA = qw(Exporter::Lite) mantra).  Exporter::Lite simply
   exports its import() function. This might be called a "mix-in".
   .
   Setting up a module to export its variables and functions is simple:
   .
   package My::Module;
   use Exporter::Lite;
   .
   @EXPORT = qw($Foo bar);

This is needed by libuniversal-exports-perl which I will ITP in a minute.

Bug#153139: ITP: libcgi-validate-perl -- Advanced CGI form parser and type validation

2002-07-16 Thread Dagfinn Ilmari Mannsåker
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-07-16
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: libcgi-validate-perl
  Version : 2.000
  Upstream Author : Byron Brummer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.cpan.org/authors/id/ZENIN/
* License : GPL/Artistic
  Description : Advanced CGI form parser and type validation
   Basicly a blending of the CGI and Getopt::Long modules, and requires
   the CGI module to function.
   .
   The basic concept of this module is to combine the best features of
   the CGI and Getopt::Long modules. The CGI module is great for
   parsing, building, and rebuilding forms, however it lacks any real
   error checking abilitys such as misspelled form input names, the data
   types received from them, missing values, etc. This however, is
   something that the Getopt::Long module is vary good at doing. So,
   basicly this module is a layer that collects the data using the CGI
   module and passes it to routines to do type validation and name
   consistency checks all in one clean try/catch style block.
   .
   The syntax of GetFormData() is mostly the same as the GetOptions() of
   Getopt::Long, with a few exceptions (namely, the handling of
   exceptions) . See the VALUE TYPES section for detail of the
   available types, and the EXCEPTIONS section for exception handling
   options. If given without a type, fields are assumed to be type ":s"
   (optional string), which is normally correct.

This module is needed by the upcoming limacute 2.0 packages by Tore Anderson.

It seems that vte will replace libzvt for gnome in the future. So
vte, libvte and the python wrapper of libvte should be packaged.

Gnome-terminal will also use libvte. And it has better i18n support.
No longer experimental, it seems.

Bug#153137: ITP: libcgi-untaint-perl -- Process CGI input parameters

2002-07-16 Thread Dagfinn Ilmari Mannsåker
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-07-16
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: libcgi-untaint-perl
  Version : 0.84-1
  Upstream Author : Tony Bowden <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/search?dist=CGI-Untaint
* License : GPL/Artistic
  Description : Process CGI input parameters
   Dealing with large web based applications with multiple forms is a
   minefield. It's often hard enough to ensure you validate all your
   input at all, without having to worry about doing it in a consistent
   manner. If any of the validation rules change, you often have to alter
   them in many different places. And, if you want to operate taint-safe,
   then you're just adding even more headaches.
   .
   This module provides a simple, convenient, abstracted and extensible
   manner for validating and untainting the input from web forms.
   .
   You simply create a handler with a hash of your parameters (usually
   $q->Vars), and then iterate over the fields you wish to extract,
   performing whatever validations you choose. The resulting variable is
   guaranteed not only to be valid, but also untainted.

This module is needed by the upcoming limacute 2.0 packages by Tore Anderson.

  Description : A terminal locking program

 Away is a simple program that locks your terminal, checks for new
 mail in any given number of mailboxes, and lets others know why you
 are inactive.
 .
 Away will also notify you if you have new mail. By default Away only
 checks for mail in a user's $MAIL file, but by using the awayrc file,
 a user can configure any given number of mailboxes to be checked.
 .
 Away also uses PAM to lock your terminal the way xlock locks an X11
 session.

  Description : XMMS remote that uses K-Jofol's skins

This is a plugin for xmms which allows you to use skins designed
for the Kjofol mp3 player. These skins differe from standard
xmms skins in that they need not be the usual rectangular shape.
Also, the buttons don't need to be in the same places that they are
with xmms, or with other xmms skins.

There are some very cool skins coming out for K-Jofol. They look
heaps better than the Winamp ones. This can be compiled as a stand
alone program which functions as a remote control. Just run XMMS,
then run this to control XMMS.

This is an installer package that downloads and installs the trial

integration will be limited because the trial version of Lispworks

cvsdelta summarizes the difference between a CVS project and its local

existing files it counts the number of lines that have been added,
deleted, and changed. It filters project changes by using .cvsignore
files, both system-wide and locally.

  Description : A powerful (Ro)bot for Internet Relay Chat networks.

An IRC bot.
A bot is an automated client for Internet Relay Chat networks, which stays
online after its owner leaves.
It was designed to protect and serve. Your faithful, strong (but humble)
servant.
.
Dancer was developed in C, and is mostly POSIX compliant. It runs on most of
the UNIX flavors you have used, and a few you haven't heard of. It also runs
on Win32 and AmigaOS.
