Bug#154311: ITP: imagefs -- A tool to create and write FAT12 images.

2002-08-06 Thread Tollef Fog Heen
* Hans Freitag

| Imagefs allows you to create a file on your hard disk (or any other
| drive) and treat it as if it were a floppy disk. It lets you copy files
| onto and delete files from this virtual floppy disk, install boot sector
| code, and display a directory of files on the virtual disk. It is
| especially useful for testing bootable software with Bochs; instead of
| being forced to copy your files to a diskette every time you want a test
| run, you can have Bochs boot the image file instead.

Any progress on this? It might be useful for debian-installer.

I'm orphaning this package since I no longer use it.

It's my opinion that if noone picks this up in, say, 2 months,
it should be dropped from debian.

Bug#155609: ITP: htmlpp -- Perl based HTML preprocessor

2002-08-06 Thread Steve Kemp
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

htmlpp is a simple Perl based HTML preprocessor which is used to
generate HTML pages from text input files. The input files may contain
special markup which allows for links, tables of contents, etc to be
generated with ease.

It's purpose is to simplify the work of writing and packaging large
numbers of HTML documents, acting like a compiler: you provide input
source text and htmlpp produces the HTML documents from that.

The current version 4.2a may be downloaded from the following URL:

http://www.imatix.com/html/htmlpp/

htmlpp is distributed under the GNU Public License.

Bug#83341: Debian package of dict-revo

2002-08-06 Thread Larry Gilbert
Martin,

I've just discovered that you maintain an unofficial
Debian package for dict-revo
(http://www.ens-lyon.fr/~mquinson/deb.html#dict-revo).

There is a demand for dict-revo in the Debian
distribution, and to the best of my knowledge, no one
else is working on it. I have not yet looked at your
package, but since it looks like you have completed it
successfully, I think it would be welcomed as an
official package.

Do you think you would be interested in maintaining it
officially? If so, I can help you contact the
appropriate people. (I am just an ordinary Debian
enthusiast, myself.)

Please let me know, either way. Thanks!

Bug#155626: ITP: exiscan -- An email virus scanner for the exim MTA

* Package name: exiscan
  Version : 2.4
  Upstream Author : Tom Kistner [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://duncanthrax.net/exiscan/
* License : GPL
  Description : An email virus scanner for the exim MTA

 Exiscan is an email virus scanner which works together with the Exim MTA
 (http://www.exim.org). It is written in Perl and designed to be very easy
 to implement. Exiscan supports multithreaded unpacking and scanning of mail,
 with a configurable number of processes. Exiscan has generic support for
 available command line virus scanners. Exiscan can scan inside of MS-TNEF
 and SMIME (signed) wrapped messages.

 For I am using it here @WORK anyway I thought it would be a nice idea
to have it as package too, to let other people find their way to it.
Though it's GPL it will go into contrib for it needs any virus scanner
and I don't think that there is an open source one. It might be
possible to have it in main if I disable the filtering at all (which
would reduce the usefulness of the package at all).

 I don't know about amavis -- that should be able to do almost the same,
but the exim hooks aren't turned on in that package. It's just a
sugguestion to do this package.

 Thanks for the flames/comments/input.
Alfie

Sebastien Pip allow users to do that.

So does cmd1 /dev/fd/1 | cmd2 /dev/fd/0.  Why do we need a package for

Bug#155662: ITP: springgraph -- a graph renderer

2002-08-06 Thread Ralf Treinen
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-08-05
Severity: wishlist

* Package name : springgraph
  Version : 0.79
  Upstream Author : [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://www.chaosreigns.com/code/springgraph/
* License : GPL
  Description : A graph renderer

Springgraph will read in a .dot file description of a graph, which, for
each node, specifies its name and which other nodes it is connected to,
and then renders a graph. Each node is drawn as an ellipse, and each
connection is drawn as an arrow. The node placement is a result of all
of the nodes moving away from each other, while all nodes which are
connected move toward each other. This movement is repeated until it
stabilizes.

Comment: A free replacment for the non-free graph-rendering package
graphviz would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, springgraph
is not (yet ?) a drop-in replacement for graphviz. Still, it can
be useful for certain applications. One of the applications
mentioned on springgraph home page, for instance, is visualisation
of the debian keyring (though I didn't yet check for myself).

I intend to package subversion-svn in the spirit of packages like
mozilla-cvs. Subversion developers recommend that people track the
development rather than the release, so this package will give Debian users
the choice.

I already have preliminary .debs available.

My package includes several things that the subversion package omits:
 * Python bindings
 * Tools
 * Lots of documentation

These things were in the source tree even for release, but are not in any
.deb.

Abba Abacha

Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Attention: Beloved

I am Abba Abacha, son of late general Sani
Abacha, ex-military head of state of
Nigeria who died on the 8th of June 1998 of
heart problems. I contacted you because of
my need to deal with persons whom my family
and I have had no previous personal
relationships.
Since the death of my father, my family has
been subjected to all sorts of harassment
and intimidation with lots of negative
reports emanating from the government and
the press about my father. The present
government has also ensured that our bank
accounts are frozen and all assets seized.
It is in view of this, that I seek your co-
operation and assistance in the transfer of
the sum of us$25,000,000(twenty five
million united states dollars only) being
the very last of my family fund in my
possession and control.
The federal government seized all our
properties and froze all our accounts both
local and international after the death of
my father, but my only hope now is this
available us$25,000,000 in cash which my
father carefully packaged and deposited as
photographic materials with a private
security company without their knowledge.
If you are willing to assist us in
receiving this money on our behalf, please,
contact me immediately through my email:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] On receipt of your
reply, I will contact you to discuss the
details.
My family and I have agreed to give you 20%
of the funds. Meanwhile, our intention is
to invest this fund in your country based
on your advice and please ensure to keep
this proposal very secret and confidential
for obvious reasons and send to us your
private telephone/facsimile number for easy
and confidential communication.
When replying, please include your private
telephone and fax number for details.
We await your immediate response.
Sincerely yours,

Bug#155685: ITP: fft -- The alternative traceroute tool for network (reverse) engineers

2002-08-06 Thread Bill Jonas
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-08-06
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: fft
  Version : 1.99-beta6
  Upstream Author : Nils McCarthy [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://www.mainnerve.com/fft/
* License : Simple, permissive, non-copyleft; BSD-ish [1]
  Description : The alternative traceroute tool for network (reverse)
engineers

FFT is a sort of 'traceroute' that often works much faster (than the
commonly-used Van Jacobson method) and goes through many configurations
of packet-filter based firewalls. It also has numerous other options
including AS number lookups, netblock name lookups, et al.

Rather than launching UDP probes in an attempt to elicit ICMP
TIME_EXCEEDED, FFT accomplishes substantively the same effect using TCP
SYN or FIN probes, listening for both TIME_EXCEEDED messages or TCP_RST
from firewalls or other gateways in the path.

FFT performs a function similar to that of the tcptraceroute package but
has different features. The output is quite different from traceroute
but has abilities which tcptraceroute lacks.

  Description : OpenInventor / Qt interface library

SoQt is a library for gluing the Coin 3D visualization library into
applications employing the Qt toolkit from Troll Tech to build 2D user
interfaces.

The SoQt library is also still fully compatible with the
implementations of the Inventor API from SGI and TGS.

SoQt provides a class-hierarchy of viewer classes that ranges from a
simple render canvas (the SoQtRenderArea), providing only the basic
synchronization and device input conversion routines between Qt and
Coin, up to 3 different full-featured viewer classes
(SoQtExaminerViewer, SoQtPlaneViewer and SoQtFlyViewer) with input
device handling logic and user interfaces to let the application
programmer do Rapid Application Development.

amavis-exim?

(recommended configuration requires newer version of exim not yet in
Debian ;-( )

amavis-ng?

(I am not sure if amavis-ng has been uploaded to Debian yet, but there
was an ITP).

  Thanks for the flames/comments/input.

Sounds like a good idea, and might be worth while even if it
does compete with amavis.

(just look at the number of forks in amavis...)
