Bug#157294: further information

2002-08-20 Thread andreashappe
this package is based upon ion-devel-20020706 (which is very stable, the
last update only contained minor bugfixes).

IT also includes the corresponding metadome - patch, which provides:
o support for wm - dock - modules
o a configureable root menu (i also added a simple /etc/menu-methods/ion
- script)
o a simple taskbar

There are some other patches (for some graphical add-ons) which will be
included, if they prove their stability (at least) at my computers.

as well as output the stream to TV. It is also possible to watch DVDs with
 some comfort.

Bug#157199: RFP: libapache-mod-jk2 -- Apache2 connector for Tomcat servlet engine

I suggest to use libapache2-mod-jk for the Apache 2 version since
there might be mod_jk2 (using AJP 2.0) in the future.

Now that Apache2 is avaliable, a connector to Tomcat would be very
 usefull.

My next tomcat4 package (4.1.9) will build mod_webapp for Apache 2. So you
can use mod_jk with Apache 1.3 and mod_webapp with Apache 2. I don't whink
it is necessary to build both modules for the 2 Apache versions.

Bug#157389: ITP: psad -- The Post Scan Attack Detector (psad)

Severity: wishlist

* Package name: psad

* URL : http://www.cipherdyne.com/
* License : (GPL)
Description : The Post Scan Attack Detector (psad)

= This is a split from the Bastille package =

The Port Scan Attack Detector (psad) is a program written in Perl
that is designed to work with Linux firewalling code (iptables in the
 2.4.x
kernels, and ipchains in the 2.2.x kernels) to detect port scans. It
features a set of highly configurable danger thresholds (with
 sensible
defaults provided), verbose alert messages that include the source,
destination, scanned port range, begin and end times, tcp flags
 and
corresponding nmap options (Linux 2.4.x kernels only), reverse
 DNS info,
email alerting, and automatic blocking of offending ip addresses
 via dynamic
configuration of ipchains/iptables firewall rulesets. In
 addition, for the
2.4.x kernels psad incorporates many of the tcp signatures
 included in Snort
to detect highly suspect scans for various backdoor programs
 (e.g. EvilFTP,
GirlFriend, SubSeven), DDoS tools (mstream, shaft), and
 advanced port scans
(syn, fin, xmas) which are easily leveraged against a
 machine via nmap.

Well, I don't really know how it should be named, but as far as I can
see it is really called mod_jk2. So the package should be probably named
libapache2-mod-jk2.

The only thing I want is to connect Apache2 and Tomcat, so if you build
a mod_webapp for Apache2 I'm just fine. (You could even close this bug.)

Thank you for your excellent work, Stefan Gybas!

Bye,

Why not just patch (change - to _ in the name) and upload yourself

I'm also involved in the upstream team. As this Debian package has
been made quickly, upstream author asked me to make it from scratch,

Bug#157411: RFA: xpenguins-applet -- gnome panel applet implementation of xpenguins

2002-08-20 Thread Bas Zoetekouw
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-08-20
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the xpenguins-applet package, because I do not
use Gnome anymore.

The package description is:
This program is a GNOME panel applet that animates a friendly family
of penguins in your root window. They drop in from the top of the
screen, walk along the tops of your windows, up the side of your
windows, levitate, skateboard, and do other similarly exciting
things. XPenguins is now themeable so if you're bored of penguins, try
something else. The basic themes are provided by the xpenguins package
(this is the xpenguins_applet package), so you'll have to install that
 before xpenguins_applet will work.

It's a small package with no bugs. Upstream is very responsive.

Bug#157433: RFA: ifenslave -- Attach and detach slave interfaces to a bonding device.

2002-08-20 Thread Guus Sliepen
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-08-20
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the ifenslave package.
The package description is:
This is a tool to attach and detach slave network interfaces to a bonding
device. A bonding device will act like a normal Ethernet network device to
the kernel, but will send out the packets via the slave devices using a simple
round-robin scheduler. This allows for simple load-balancing, identical to
channel bonding or trunking techniques used in switches.
 .
The kernel must have support for bonding devices for ifenslave to be useful.

The problem is that ifenslave depends on kernel headers. I'd like
someone more experienced with working with kernel headers to take over
this package.
