Bug#159651: ITP: bluez-bluefw -- Firmware loader for BCM2003 Bluetooth devices
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: bluez-bluefw Version : 0.5 Upstream Author : Maxim Krasnyansky <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> * URL : http://bluez.sf.net/ * License : GPL Description : Firmware loader for Broadcom BCM2003 Bluetooth devices bluez-bluefw is a firmware loader for Bluetooth devices using the Broadcom BCM2033 chipset. This consists of two components: (a) GPL'd software for loading the firmware (b) The binary-only firmware itself (Broadcom have approved its distribution) My intent is to make two packages, bluez-bluefw and bluez-bluefw-firmware. The latter would have to go into non-free, and the former into contrib as it requires a non-free package to function.

Bug#159635: ITP: iterm -- Internationalized Terminal Emulator, by Li18nux
Package: wnpp Version: N/A; reported 2002-09-05 Severity: wishlist * Package name: iterm Version : 0.1+cvs20020830-1 Upstream Author : Jiro SEKIBA <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> et al. * URL : http://www.li18nux.org/ * License : Common Public License Version 0.5 Description : Internationalized Terminal Emulator, by Li18nux iterm is the latest offering from the Li18nux Group. It is written from the ground up with the goal of true I18N, and offers the next generation Internationalized Terminal Emulator Framework. These packages have been uploaded to the incoming directory of Debian archive. Before the packages are officially accepted into Debian, you may download them here: http://people.debian.org/~foka/debian/iterm/ Alternatively, if you are using Debian unstable (sid), you may add the following lines to your /etc/apt/sources.list: # iterm deb http://people.debian.org/~foka/debian/ unstable/$(ARCH)/ deb http://people.debian.org/~foka/debian/ unstable/all/ deb-src http://people.debian.org/~foka/debian/ unstable/source/ and apt-get install them. :-) The packages are: libiterm1, libiterm-dev, libxiterm1, libxiterm-dev, xiterm, fbiterm. Since this package was built on Debian unstable (sid) in early September 2002, they may not readily install on testing (sarge) and stable (woody) distributions. But of course, you may always "apt-get source iterm" and compile the packages yourself. :-) Cheers, Anthony Fok <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Thu, 05 Sep 2002 01:06:06 +0800 === Date: Fri, 16 Aug 2002 02:06:23 -0700 (PDT) From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Hideki Hiura) Subject: [li18nux:1082] iterm, the next generation foundation of I18N terminal emulation To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Hideki Hiura)> All, I am pleased to announce the availability of iterm, the foundation of the next generation international terminal emulation. As demonstrated in the last plenary meeting, Li18nux advanced utility development subgroup has been working on the next generation framework for terminal emulation, also known as i18n console. As partially disclosed in the meeting minutes of Taiwan ad-hoc meeting, the project advanced as the platform/windowing system neutral framework as iterm, led by the Jiro Sekiba (jir at li18nux.org), the principal engineer of li18nux advanced utility development subgroup. Jiro and the team of CSI-xterm based on the X.org's xterm learned from the CSI-xterm project that enhancing xterm is not the optimal way to go. The fundamental strength of iterm architecture is that the iterm is not based on any xterm variations because the team set reimplementing terminal emulator in MVC (Model-View-Controller) model is the ultimate goal of iterm, which is obviously much cleaner approach than any enhancement work of *xterm variations. The keyword is platform/windowing system neutral. Also I should mention another keyword, I18N. The iterm is not an I18N enhancement of existing non-I18N terminal emulator. It is designed from the beginning to be an I18N terminal emulator. As far as I know of, iterm is the first terminal emulator supporting BiDi/CTL and CJK languages from its initial preview release. The iterm architectural diagram is as follows: frame athena gtk+ based qt based other bufferwidgetgnome kde widget i18nbased x terminal terminal based console terminal terminal ++-+---+--++ || xiterm |gnomeiterm | kdeiterm | *iterm | |fbiterm +-+---+--++ ||libxiterm|libgtkiterm|libqtiterm|etc.| +--+ | libiterm | +--+ +-+ | pluggable bidi engine spi| | libiiimf+---> talk to iiimf directly +-+---++-+-+ without x or xim |sun pls |ibm pls|fribidi | |liblayout| || +-+---++ The foundation of the i18n terminal emulator "libiterm" implements the "view" independent core i18n terminal emulator capability, including bidi support. The libiterm includes pluggable bidi engine spi. At this moment, sun's opensourced pls library (liblayout), ibm pls library, and fribidi are supported. (At this moment, only libiterm, fbiterm, libxiterm and xiterm are available.) For streams that follow these restrictions, libmpeg2 is probably 100% conformant to the mpeg standards - and there's a pretty extensive test suite to check this. * Speed - there has been huge efforts there, and libmpeg2 is probably the fastest library around for what it does. * Portability - most of the code is written in C, and when platform-specific optimizations are used, there always is a generic C routine to fall back on. This should be portable to all architectures - at least we have heard reports from people running this code on x86, ppc, sparc, arm and sh4. * Reuseability - libmpeg2 is not intended to include any project-specific code, but it should still include enough features to be used by very diverse projects. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux aragorn 2.2.21 #1 Thu Aug 8 13:53:32 CEST 2002 i586 Locale: LANG=ca_ES.ISO-8859-1, LC_CTYPE=ca_ES.ISO-8859-1 -- no debconf information --- Received: (at 157944-done) by bugs.debian.org; 4 Sep 2002 18:07:17 + >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Sep 04 13:07:17 2002 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from stm.lbl.gov [131.243.16.51] by master.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.12 1 (Debian)) id 17meYf-0002Cz-00; Wed, 04 Sep 2002 13:07:17 -0500 Received: from ds by stm.lbl.gov with local (Exim 3.12 #1 (Debian)) id 17meYe-0001dy-00 for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Wed, 04 Sep 2002 11:07:16 -0700 Date: Wed, 4 Sep 2002 11:07:16 -0700 From: David Schleef <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Fixed in NMU of mpeg2dec 0.2.1-2 Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: David Schleef <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.2.5i In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; from [EMAIL PROTECTED] on Wed, Sep 04, 2002 at 12:36:50PM -0400 Sender: David Schleef <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] On Wed, Sep 04, 2002 at 12:36:50PM -0400, David I. Bug#159631: ITP: thy -- A tiny and fast http daemon
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist I intend to package Thy, a http daemon I have written (and put under the GPL). Why another, one might ask. Well, all the other httpds I tried had some serious disadvantages (boa not supporting name-based virtual hosts, nor ranges; thttpd eating memory like a madman in some situations, having unconfigurable error documents, and listing dotfiles in directory listings; bozohttpd does not support Ranges; wn is annoying; and I didn't like dhttpd either; smeagol does not support userdirs, and the code isn't that great either..), which Thy does not. Experimental packages are available from: deb http://bonehunter.rulez.org/debian sid madhouse I plan to upload the next public release (which will probably be 0.1.292).

Bug#82613: Crack license, is it free?
(please CC: since I'm not in the list) I understand that crack's [1] license (adjointed) is free, however, I'm surprised its not in Debian yet (whileas john is). I just wanted to check before packaging it (there's an ITP #82613 but it's almost 2 years ago), since it sounds DFSG-compatible to me. Regards Javi A search in debian-legal regarding 'crack' brings nothing useful except the informaion that both Wichert [2] and Knghtbrds [3] seem to have a crack pipe somewhere :) [1] http://www.users.dircon.co.uk/~crypto/download/c50-faq.html [2] http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2000/debian-legal-27/msg00059.html [3]http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2000/debian-legal-200010/msg00063.html -- ** Throughout the entire history of the Crack software, the author has been employed (apart from occasional periods of unemployment) by a selection of academic institutions and companies, none of whom have ever dedicated any resources to the development of the software, nor have endorsed the development of the software in any other way. Bug#159573: RFP: eskuel -- MySQL databases administration interface written in PHP.
Package: wnpp Version: N/A; reported 2002-09-04 Severity: wishlist * Package name: eskuel Version : 1.0.2 Upstream Author : Mathieu LESNIAK <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> * URL : http://www.phptools4u.com/scripts/eskuel/?lang=english * License : GPL v2 http://www.phptools4u.com/divers/cgu.php Description : MySQL databases administration interface written in PHP. eskuel is a MySQL databases administration interface written in PHP. It allow user to manage simply and fully one or more database without any advanced knowledge in SQL language. Like phpMyAdmin, eskuel can backup a table property, export and import the structure and/or the content of a database. You'll be able to add, delete one or more records, control and optimize the size of one table or database, rename or copy datas, in fact you'll can do everything phpMyAdmin does but better and efficiently. Better because we tried to create a more attractive interface (just take a look at the screenshots), more ergonomic (you can quickly do everything), more "cross-browser" (no more bugging frames or dhtml) and customizable (absolutely !). More efficient because we wanted each request to be the fastest of the world, a maximum of actions available and we wish that every advanced SQL user could use eskuel easily. But you'd better have to try eskuel now ! You'll see exactly what we mean. Some cool features : - Query bookmark system - Context help - Interface in 2 or 3 columns - CSV Dump - Copy and rename table - Table comment (no more table needed) - Table check and repair - Customizable interfaces - Multi-users capabilities (based on htaccess) I know this is too similar to phpmyadmin, but the interface is so much nicer, no frames, that it is really worth it. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux aenima 2.4.18 #9 Tue Jun 25 20:53:50 CEST 2002 i686 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (ignored: LC_ALL set) -- no debconf information -- .''`.
