Bug#160162: ITP: vtkdata -- Example data for VTK

2002-09-08 Thread Maitland Bottoms

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

Home page is at: http://www.vtk.org/
It was downloaded from http://www.vtk.org/files/release/4.0/vtk40Data.tar.gz

For an earlier version it was decided to produce the vtkdata-installer package
rather than a vtkdata package. For the current VTK, the vtkdata package is now
smaller than before. Also, VTK version 4 and up use this data as part of
build-time testing. Thus I expect to upload a new vtk source package which
build-depends upon vtkdata.

-Maitland

Source: vtkdata
Section: graphics
Priority: optional
Maintainer: A. Maitland Bottoms <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Build-Depends-Indep: debhelper (>>3.0.0)
Standards-Version: 3.5.2

Package: vtkdata
Architecture: all
Suggests: vtk-examples
Conflicts: vtkdata-installer
Description: Example data for VTK
The Visualization Toolkit comes with example C++, Tcl and
Python code. These examples reference data files installed
 by this package.
 .
During building of VTK packages this data is used in the
 testing stages.

Bug#115634: ITP: em8300

2002-09-08 Thread Nicolas Boullis
Hi Michael!

Quite a long time ago (about 10 months), you announced your intention do
package em8300.

Since that time, looking in auric:/org/ftp.debian.org/queue/new, you
tried to uploads on 02/26 and 03/19; none of them has made is way to the
archive... :-(

So I'd like to know if you've had any king of answer from the ftp-master,
and if you still intend to package this.

Thanks in advance,

Nicolas,
eager to see em8300 in debian

Hi!

Quite some time ago (about 4 months), you announced your intention to
package miid. Since then, it seems that no package of miid is in the
archive...

So I'd like to know if you still intend to package it, and when you plan
to upload a package.

Thanks in advance,

Nicolas,
waiting for miid to show up in debian

Bug#160140: ITP: cack - English sentence generator

2002-09-08 Thread Alex Pennace
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: cack
  Version : 1.1
  Upstream Author : Andy Gilligan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://cack.sourceforge.net/
* License : GPL
Description : Constructs sentences using English language rules.

cack builds sentences from random nouns, verbs, adjectives and
adverbs using English grammar rules. The result is often funny,
sometimes interesting, and certainly more stimulating than most of the
Internet.

I tried to upload a package with brainfuck in the *description* and it
got rejected for this reason. YMMV.

Bug#159919: ITP: agt -- Console frontend for iptables

Hm, iptables is just an interface to netfilter, with no form of configuration
file(s) whatsoever. When compared to similar programs like 'ipf', you'll
notice how much nicer 'ipf' is to use -- the reason I wrote agt.

AGT isn't ncurses based, just console, but has been around for a while,
and has recently been completely rewritten -- It now behaves much like
'ipf' on *BSD, with similar syntax in the configuration.

The reason I added such a short description was due to 'reportbug' asking
for a 'brief' and 'short' package description. Other packages have similar
length descriptions.

How about:
agt -- Iptables front-end with ipf-like configuration syntax

I would check other package descriptions before telling someone that
their description 'just doesn't cut it'.

Two examples taken from packages.debian.org:

apt -- Advanced front-end for dpkg
util-linux -- Miscellaneous system utilities

I imagine those descriptions 'cut it' :)

Why are you dividing this task? I think either one of you should be
maintaing the entirety of SNARE, not just one piece each. Unless it
really is huge...

Just my 2 cents.
