2002-09-12 Thread Mako Hill
The 5 line paragraph you put in the subject where it's customary to
put the short description seems a bit excessive. :) You should
describe the software a bit more concisely in your package's short
description field.

Good luck!

Package: wnpp

 This package provide an automatic language/region pack selection in Mozilla
 using the locale settings. It may help a sysadmin faced with hundreds of
 non-english-speaking novices.

 It is just a script (an alternative to /usr/bin/mozilla), which lookup the
 LC_MESSAGES variable and run mozilla with the options corresponding to that
 variable.

 You can download a preliminary version of this package from my website:

Is there any reason this should not be integrated into the main mozilla
package?  I expect my locale setting to be respected by all applications;
partial credit will not be awarded to apps that suck at other areas of
Unix integration.

Does this package adjust mozilla's internal l10n settings only, or does
it also affect the Language: headers sent in HTTP requests?

There's a somewhat stale bug: 107808
which is a RFA/ITA that didn't progress.

Okay... Eray Ozkural is my sposoree, but the status of his package
metis is unclear, and his maintainer application as far as I know is
still in progress (after well over a year!).

Eray, if you want to eventually take the package over, I'd be glad to
serve as interim maintainer until you can do so.

Bug#160679: ITP: cvsd -- Chroot wrapper to run `cvs pserver' more securely

2002-09-12 Thread Arthur de Jong

Subject: ITP: cvsd -- Chroot wrapper to run `cvs pserver' more securely
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-09-12
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: cvsd
  Version : 0.9.12
  Upstream Author : Arthur de Jong [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://tiefighter.et.tudelft.nl/~arthur/cvsd/
* License : GPL
  Description : Chroot wrapper to run `cvs pserver' more securely

cvsd is a wrapper program for cvs in pserver mode. it will run 'cvs pserver'
under a special
uid/gid in a chroot jail. cvsd is run as a daemon and is controlled through a
configuration
file. It is relatively easy to configure and provides tools for setting up a
rootjail.

This server can be useful if you want to run a public cvs pserver. You should
however be aware
of the security limitations of running a cvs pserver. If you want any kind of
authentication you
should really consider using secure shell as a secure authentication mechanism
and transport.
Passwords used with cvs pserver are transmitted in plaintext.
