Hello,
(Cc: to ben, the Debian OpenLDAP Maintainer)
(Cc: to Debian Bug Tracking System for Archiving of this "intent to package")

I'm playing around with pam_ldap and nss_ldap, so I needed to populate my
own OpenLdap Server and found out, that your Migrations Scipt will be a good
help.

Just wanted to inform you about my Experiences:

a) The Default OpenLDAPd Installer on Debian GNU Linux will create the LDAP
Admin as cn=Admin,ou=Persons,cd=... which Leads to the Problem, that your
online Migration script has Problems with the already existing People Entry.
I have not find out, how to change this, since I am quite new to LDAP, so I
changed the Debian Installer, to use "cn=manager,dc=...".

b) in my /etc/services file is a duplicate entry (swat). I dont know if that
is usual, but your script wont trap the error message from duplicate
entries. Hope it helps to improve your scripts.

I would like to make a Debian Package of those Script, if you don't care :)

http://www.padl.com/tools.html

BTW: I read about some Experiences with Exchange as an LDAP Server... I am
just playing around with it, but I guess I need to give more more edit
rights. Did you added attributes to existing users, or created a new sub
tree for the Unix Users? Is there some Docu available?

Thanks for the great LDAP Modules for Linux!

Greetings
Bernd

Hi,

Don't know if I was first or didn't notice your ITP, but it is now
packaged (for some time now) as "migrationtools", so I am closing your
ITP.

If you really want to maintain the package, then let's talk about it. :-)

Just as a comment, I think it would be much better if NTLM auth (and
other NTLMSSP auth types -- such as Kerberos) support was integrated into
browsers directly. Of course, this means someone has to write an NTLM
client implementation that's license-compatible with Mozilla, so in the
meantime this package certainly sounds useful.

 pictures with a capable compositing system. Advanced editing, YUV
 compositing, and realtime effects are some of the things Cinelerra does.
 Cinelerra's 16 bit YUV compositing engine has been optimized for multiple
 CPU's, reduces generation loss, and significantly reduces compression time.
 Capturing from IEEE1394, Video4Linux, Motion JPEG, and screenshots is
 supported.

There has been no activity on this bug since the last person who was
interested posted on 15th of August 2001. It's been over a year. I intend
to wade through the mess of cinelerra's build system, come up with some
packages and actually upload them into Debian.

NOTE TO -legal: The code is released under the GPL, but with the following
addition:
In addition to the GPL's warranty stipulation, Heroine Virtual Package is
distributed WITHOUT GUARANTEED SUPPORT; without even the guarantee of
ADDITIONAL LABOR.
(The Heroine Virtual Package they refer to is the massive source tarball.)

I believe this is still compliant with the DFSG, it doesn't place any
restrictions on use or modification or distribution of the code.

Bug#162018: ITP: python-htmltmpl -- Templating engine for separation of code and HTML

2002-09-23 Thread Sergio Talens-Oliag
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-09-23
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: python-htmltmpl
  Version : 1.22
  Upstream Author : [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://htmltmpl.sourceforge.net/
* License : GPL
  Description : Templating engine for separation of code and HTML

  The purpose of the templating engine is to provide web application
  developers, who need to separate program code and design (HTML code)
  of their web application projects, with a templating tool that can be
  easily used by cooperating webdesigners who have no programming
  skills.

  Templating language provided by the engine is inspired by Perl
  templating module HTML::Template. Templates created for HTML::Template
  can be used with this engine.

  The engine is currently available for Python and PHP. The Python
  package includes easydoc, a module which uses the templating engine to
  generate HTML documentation from docstrings embedded in source files
  of Python modules.

  NOTE: I only plan to package the python version, which is the one I'm
  currently using.

Bug#162015: ITP: kdirstat -- Graphical disk usage display with cleanup facilities.

2002-09-23 Thread Mike Schacht
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-09-23
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: kdirstat
  Version : 2.0.1
  Upstream Author : Stefan Hundhammer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://kdirstat.sourceforge.net
* License : GPL
  Description : Graphical disk usage display with cleanup facilities.

 KDirStat (KDE Directory Statistics) is a small utility program that
 sums up disk usage for direcory trees, very much like the Unix 'du'
 command. It displays the disk space used up by a directory tree, both
 numerically and graphically. It is network transparent (i.e., you can
 use it to sum up FTP servers), and comes with predefined and user
 configurable cleanup actions. You can directly open a directory branch
 in Konqueror or the shell of your choice, compress it to a .tar.bz2
 archive, or define your own cleanup actions.

Just send a mail to that bug that inform about that you are the
current ITP:er.

Just informal consensus.

What to about old-old ITP?

2002-09-23 Thread Mike Schacht
I was going to package kdirstat but discovered that someone else had
also posted an ITP, though it is some 240 days old. I emailed the poster
and he said he no longer intended to package it, and it is okay with him
if I do. Should I just file another ITP? Must anything formal be done
about the old one?

What generally is done about stale ITPs? Is package adoption formally
enforced in any way, or is it just managed by informal consensus?

Why another new package? Why do you want to spam the archive (read: adding
lots of metadata to everyone's Packages files) instead of just adding this
script (with few lines of actuall code) to the psutils package? There is
already a bug report on the topic. Please add the script, write a manpage and
bother the maintainer to upload a new version. If he does not react, ping me
to do an NMU.

Gruss/Regards,
Eduard.
