Bug#170634: RFA: gmime -- MIME library

2002-11-25 Thread Ove Kaaven
Package: wnpp
Version: unavailable; reported 2002-11-25
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the gmime package. I originally packaged it
for use by gmail, but gmail does not compile with newer gmime versions
than 0.6 and gmail's upstream is no longer active and won't create a
version that does, so I haven't been able to fulfill my duties to the
gmime package. So I think that someone that cares about more recent
software should take it over.

The package description is:
GMime is a set of utilities for parsing and creating messages using
the Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension (MIME).

Bug#170637: O: gmail -- GNOME mail client using SQL-based vfolders

2002-11-25 Thread Ove Kaaven
Package: wnpp
Version: unavailable; reported 2002-11-25
Severity: normal

I am orphaning the gmail package, since its upstream is no longer
actively working on it, it does not compile with recent versions of
libs it depends on, and I don't have time to maintain it myself without
an upstream. (But I don't think I'm going to upload a package with the
new maintainer set to debian-qa, since the new upload may not compile
on the autobuilders, which might be bad if some people are still
interested in the package.)

The package description is:
Gmail is an experimental SQL-based vfolder email system, using MySQL
as its back-end database, which allows for large volumes of mail,
without risk of data loss. The vfolders (virtual folders) are
implemented as SQL queries. A cache system keeps gmail fast.

I'm retitling back to RFP as the address from the person who ITPed
bounces; I'm also unmerging and closing the duplicate report as it has
no useful information anyway (and thus only lengthens the already
overloaded wnpp bug page).

Also, Adrian, this software is only useful in combination with non-free
software; would you mind closing this after waiting some more time?
Especially as noone really seems interested anyway.

I don't intend to package rwin anymore. There are a few reasons for this,
that I'll try to explain here ;
- First, rwin developpement seems to have stopped. No patch has been applied
in 6 months, including the few ones I submitted to fix some endianness
  problems.
- rwin had, when I decided to package it, quite interesting features, that
rdesktop had not. It turns out that rdesktop has filled the gap and
  implemented even more interesting features.
- rwin is really a pita to package for multiple arches. This is not a real
valuable argument, but that contributes, given the situation, to my
decision not to go on with packaging rwin.

If anyone has comment on this decision, don't hesitate to drop me a few
lines.

Description : Dutch dictionary and language support for aspell

This package provides a dutch dictionary and a language file for use with the
aspell spelling checker.
The word list has been compiled from a number of sources:
   1. The list used in the aspell-nl-0.1.rpm package. The main reason I
decided to build the present package is that I could not find a
tarball distribution of this rpm and that some ``exceptions'' from
the official lists seemed to be missing.
   2. The lists in the official announcement (1996) about spelling changes.
   3. The list by Piet Tutelaers available on http://www.ntg.nl/spell-nl-v5b/.
The full word list (approx. 222K words) is available as a text file dutch.words
in the distribution. The language definition is in the file dutch.dat.

The license is a bit unclear. I will contact upstream about this.

Bug#164842: dcc & dynamic system user

2002-11-25 Thread Bas Zoetekouw
Hi guys!

I'm in the process of packaging dcc (Distributed Checksum
Clearinghouse), a application somewhat like razor.
My package will provide both a client and a server (in seperate binary
packages).

The client wants to write to stuff in /var/lib/dcc and read
non-world-readable passwords from /etc/dcc; also, I'd rather not run
the server as root (which is not necessary, because it listens on port
6277).

Would it be ok to dynamically allocate a dcc group and user (as per
policy 11.9)?

Bug#165123: ITA: suck

2002-11-25 Thread Blars Blarson
retitle 165123 ITA: suck -- Small newsfeed from an NNTP server
thanks

I intend to adopt suck. The current maintainer, Tollef Fog Heen
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> has agreed to sponsor my uploads while I am in the new
maintainer process.

Bug#78855: intermezzo/intersync packaging

2002-11-25 Thread Mourad De Clerck

I was just wondering about the status of intermezzo / intersync in
Debian. I need to set it up this week, and it would be nice to have some
work to build on - even if they're just experimental packages. If it's
still nowhere near ready, could you email me a diff?

thanks,
