Bug#170920: fdflush is obsolete
Hello, I guess that fdflush is equivalent to floppycontrol -f floppycontrol comes with the fdutils package. Does anything still use fdflush? Otherwise we could just remove the fdflush package. Bug#173064: RFA: whizzytex -- a WYSIWIG environment for LaTeX
Package: wnpp Version: unavailable; reported 2002-12-14 Severity: normal I request an adopter for the whizzytex package. The package description is: WhizzyTeX is an emacs minor mode for incrementally (TeXing and) previewing a LaTeX file that you are editing. . It works with ghostview-based and xdvi-based previewers, but best visual effect and more options will be available if you use the advi previewer. I don't really have time for maintaining this package as has been shown by two bugs which have hit me lately. Also, this package works mostly with emacs, and i am not an emacs user, so maybe am i not really the best person for packaging this, altough i have good contact with upstream. Anyway, i will continue maintaining this package as i can until someone comes and adopt it. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux iliana 2.4.20 #1 SMP mer déc 11 21:04:50 CET 2002 i686 Locale: LANG=fr_FR.ISO-8859-1, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.ISO-8859-1
Bug#173061: ITP: Titan - security hardening and audit
Package: wnpp Version: N/A; reported 2002-12-14 Severity: wishlist Package name: titan Version : 4.0 (beta 6) Upstream Author : Brad M. Powell, Dan Farmer, and Matthew Archibald URL : http://www.fish.com/titan License : based on Artistic License (asked in debian-legal and ok) Description : Security hardening and audit modular tool From the HTML pages: Titan is a collection of programs, each of which either fixes or tightens one or more potential security problems with a particular aspect in the setup or configuration of a Unix system. Conceived and created by Brad Powell, it was written in Bourne shell, and its simple modular design makes it trivial for anyone who can write a shell script or program to add to it, as well completely understand the internal workings of the system. Titan does not replace other security tools, but when used in combination with them it can help make the transformation of a new, out of the box system into a firewall or security conscious system into a significantly easier task. In a nutshell, it attempts to help improve the security of the system it runs on. (...) Titan can help with all of these problems; its main design goals are: * After being run, the system should be more secure than when we started. Things may be broken, but it should be more secure! The truth is that most things you do to secure a system are probably not going to cause a problem. A vendor can't take that chance - but we can. In any case, we haven't run into anything that Titan has broken, but it certainly could happen. (...) * Producing a consistent and understandably secure system. (...) Titan has recently (?) changed from a non-free license to use the Artistic License. I considered packaging Titan at the time but dismissed it due to its license. I will package it now. Titan is a mixture of what Bastille and Tiger provide currently for Debian. On one hand it can automatically secure a system (however, it's less "verbose" that Bastille) on the other, it can check if the system is secure (like Tiger does). Tokarev <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> * URL : ftp://ftp.corpit.ru/pub/tinycdb * License : Public Domain [1] Description : a package for creating and reading constant databases tinycdb is a small, fast and reliable utility set and subroutine library for creating and reading constant databases. The database structure is tuned for fast reading: . - Successful lookups take normally just two disk accesses. - Unsuccessful lookups take only one disk access. - Small disk space and memory size requirements; a database uses 2048 bytes for the header and 24 bytes per record, plus the space for keys and data. - Maximum database size is 4GB; individual record size is not otherwise limited. - Portable file format. - Fast creation of new databases. - No locking, updates are atomical. . tinycdb implements almost all API as found in cdb-0.75 written by D.J. Bernstein, so it should be source-compatible. It also implements the query interface as found in earlier versions of cdb (0.6x) and freecdb. It also contains some enhancements, like allowing to check existance of a record in a yet-to-be-created cdb database file. . This package contains both the utility to manipulate constant databases and the development files. [1] This is the complete license text for it: |You can do whatever you like with this package. Hi, Maybe you could be a bit more informative. If I don't know what ACPI is I don't know what does your package. (I know what ACPI is) ACPI is "Advanced Configuration & Power Interface" but the name is not really informative either. Could you list what this patch provides that is not in the normal Debian kernel in the long package description?
