This package should be called gdm-themes, since when the gdm package is
updated to "gdm2," that will be the only GDM available.

Probably, you should wait until "gdm2" is uploaded, too.

Although this might sound simple, after a while, the game gets quite
hard, as you must also race the clock while you try to avoid getting
hit by skulls, ghosts, rats, bats and other nasty creatures.

Oh and it features three songs from Skaven of Future Crew fame!

Bug#177605: RFP: zope-silva -- Zope based publication management system

2003-01-20 Thread Klaus Alexander Seistrup

  Version : 0.9.0.3
  Upstream Author : Martijn Faassen

Description : Zope publication system for creating publications for the
web, paper and other media

Silva is a completely browser based publication system for creating
publications for the web, paper, and other media. Content is stored
in a clean and future-proof format, independent of layout and
presentation, suitable for use in multiple contexts. Silva allows
novice users to enter new documents as well as edit existing documents
using a simple web interface.

Behind the scenes, Silva stores content in XML (Extensible Markup
Language). This leads to several important advantages:

  · The same content can be used in different media, such as the
web, paper, or word processor content. Web publication of
content is native to Silva as it is based on Zope, but Silva
also has export filters to PDF and MS Word, and more can be
 built when the demand arises.

  · The content is future proofed and not out of date as soon as
you want to use a new system or present it in a different way.

  · The structuring of the content facilitates more sophisticated
 searching and indexing.

Silva supports (but does not require) a separation between authors who
can create new content and editors who can approve whether content
actually gets published. It also allows delegation of editing or
authoring responsibilities of a section of the publication to others.
Thus, users can be empowered (avoiding a single-person bottleneck),
without the loss of editorial control.

To assist in the publication process, Silva implements workflow where
multiple versions of the same document are kept around at the same time.
One version of a particular document may be published while another
version can be edited at the same time.

Silva is extensible with new document types and other types of content
objects.

Bug#167743: Need Help with Efforts to Package PreScript 2.2

2003-01-20 Thread Federico Sevilla III
tags 167743 help
thanks

(Sending a copy to the debian-python mailing list in the hopes that
someone there can step in and help.)

To help Andreas Tille with getting all the prerequisites for work being
done on packaging the Zope DocumentLibrary product I attempted to
package PreScript.

I had problems with working out a proper packaging for Debian, and got
in touch with the New Zealand Digital Library administrator to get some
information. Stefan Boddie replied to my message. His reply is attached
at the bottom of this message. He quotes my original message correctly,
so I do not need to attach my original message anymore.

I cannot continue working on packaging prescript as I am very hesitant
to maintain a package for software that is effectively abandoned
upstream. Unfortunately I have neither the time nor the expertise to
take over upstream management of prescript at the moment.

Hi Jijo,

Sorry for the delay in responding, I've been away and it's taken some
time to catch up with my email.

I think it's great that you're interested enough in PreScript to do
this. Unfortunately I'm not going to be much help to you though. The
original perl implementation of PreScript was written in the early 90's,
well before I started here at Waikato University. The rewrite to python
was done around 4 years ago by a grad student who has since moved on to
places unknown.

So, PreScript has effectively been unsupported and unloved for the past
couple of years. In theory it's one of the projects I look after but in
reality the other, more active projects take precedence. I'm not a
python person and I've never had the time or inclination to more than
scratch the surface of PreScript.

Anyway, from the Debian packaging point of view I agree with most of the
points you make below.

All sounds good. I'd tend not to worry about supporting very old
versions of Python.

This description made me believe that tgdb is yet another
debugger, but looking at it more deeply, it looks more like
a front-end for gdb.

Your description is a big vague ni that point.

What is the relationship between mharc and (already-packaged)
mhonarc ?

rather than
mharc -- an automated, searchable web-archive system

I would add some reference to "email" to the short description
mharc -- an automated, searchable web-based email archive system
so that I know it's not a google clone :)
