Description : High dynamic-range image format for computer imaging

OpenEXR is a high dynamic-range (HDR) image file format developed by
Industrial Light Magic for use in computer imaging applications.

OpenEXR has already been used by ILM on 4 major motion pictures --
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Men in Black II, Gangs of New
York, and Signs -- and is also being used on several other movies
currently in production.

OpenEXR's features include:

Higher dynamic range and color precision than existing 8- and 10-bit image
file formats. Support for 16-bit floating-point pixels. The pixel format,
called half, is compatible with the half datatype in NVidia's Cg graphics
language and is supported natively on their new GeForce FX and Quadro FX 3D
graphics solutions. Multiple lossless image compression algorithms. Some of
the included codecs can achieve 2:1 lossless compression ratios on images
with film grain. Extensibility. New compression codecs and image types can
easily be added by extending the C++ classes included in the OpenEXR software
distribution. New image attributes (strings, vectors, integers, etc.) can be
added to OpenEXR image headers without affecting backward compatibility with
existing OpenEXR applications.

the people _read_ what they are supposed to read? What license does
mplayerxp has? Where is its homepage? And what makes it more

I don't think that you can package that stuff.

Bug#178240: RFA: canna -- Lightweight Japanese input system

2003-01-24 Thread ISHIKAWA Mutsumi
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I decide to orphan Canna Kana-Kanji Input system.

I have not already Canna for several years. But I should manage
debian local patches. I can not merge them to upstream because
upstream development of canna was stopped since 1997.In the end of
last year, AIDA Shinra take over the project and restarted the
development of Canna. He merged most of debian local patches into
upstream tree.

So, I'll retire from the canna package management. I hope anyone
to take over the package beucase Canna is most populer Japanese
Kana-Kajji conversion system in Japan and Japanese Kana-Kanji
conversion system is fundamental package for Japanese.

Description: A Japanese input system (server and dictionary).
Canna is a Japanese input system available in Free Software.
Canna provides a unified user interface for inputting Japanese.
 .
Canna supports Nemacs, Mule, kinput2 and canuum. All of these
tools can be used by a single customization file, romaji-to-kana
conversion rules and conversion dictionaries, and input Japanese in
 the same way.
 .
Canna converts kana to kanji based on a client-server model and
 supports automatic kana-to-kanji conversion.

Bug#178279: RFA: GnomeMeeting - H323 Compatible Netmeeting clone for the Gnome Desktop

2003-01-24 Thread Sander Smeenk
Package: wnpp
Severity: Normal

I request adoption for GnomeMeeting:

Netmeeting clone for the Gnome Desktop. Supports LPC10, GSM-06.10,
 MS-GSM, G.711-Alaw and G.711-uLaw audio codecs and H.261-QCIF and
H.261-CIF video codecs. Also supports H.245 Tunneling, Fast Start,
Auto Answering of calls, ability to register to ILS directories
and browse them. Gnomemeeting comes with an animated Gnome applet.

Please contact me directly if interrested.

I'm requesting adoption because upstream and I have different opinions
on when to release libraries and packages built against those libraries.

With regards,
Sander.

Bug#178287: ITP: MAS - Media Application Server

2003-01-24 Thread David Schleef
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: mas
  Version : 0.6.0
  Upstream Author :
* URL : http://www.mediaapplicationserver.net/
* License : X
  Description : Media Application Server

from the MAS site:

MAS will provide a complete mechanism for media support, for all
pluri-modal media, for all platforms, for all operating systems, for all
  window systems.

MAS supports the desktop and, transparently, the network.
In particular, MAS will provide complete support for the X Window
  System, across the network.

MAS is an open system: the complete core will remain under the original
MIT (X) license, equally supporting open and proprietary use and
  development.

MAS provides mechanisms for structured extension, and will be supported
by dedicated testing and certification processes.

Basically what this means is that it is a transparent way to
get sound from an application to a sound device, similar to
what X does for video.

I'm also planning to package the related software on the site.
