Bug#181169: ITP: php4-imagick -- Image Magick module for php4

Severity: wishlist

* Package name: php4-imagick
  Version : 0.9.4

Description : Image Magick module for php4

This package provides a wrapper for ImageMagick library
 directly from PHP scripts.
 .
PHP4 is an HTML-embedded scripting language. Much of its syntax is
borrowed from C, Java and Perl with a couple of unique PHP-specific
features thrown in. The goal of the language is to allow web
developers to write dynamically generated pages quickly.

Packages available at
http://litux.org/debian/unstable/Packages.html#php4-imagick

It can't be built on testing or unstable as it requires ImageMagick >= 5.5

Description : alternative initrd creating utility
This package provides a mkinitrd program that is known from RedHat
   systems.
   .
Mkinitrd creates filesystem images for use as initial ramdisk
(initrd) images. These ramdisk images are often used to preload the
block device modules (SCSI or RAID) needed to access the root
   filesystem.

My plan is to make few extensions to make mkinitrd more Debian
compatible, create a frozen extension interface so the program can be
extended by others, implement some feature requested by Debian users
that are ignored by the current initrd-tools maintainer. Eg. intelligent
resolving of required modules to make reasonably sized initrd images
than can fit on one floppy disk with the kernel. Important goal is also
closer cooperation with upstream authors (Sistina/LVM, IBM/EVMS
projects).

Gruss/Regards,
Eduard.

Dash is Herberts fork of ash, a full POSIX compliant interactive shell.
Ash is bigger, does not have builtins for mount, mknod, pivot_root,
pivot_root, all these things that Herbert replaced with ugly shell
scripts inside of the initrd or with external programs that need the
libs and possible some other large libraries. I plan to extend it with
modutils code, so we would have the most minimalistis shell-code
interpreter suitable for initrd.

Gruss/Regards,
Eduard.

Description : Small tool to change the nVidia-specific settings easily

YanC or "Yet another nV Configurator" is a small tool, which you can use
to change the nVidia-specific settings (almost) as easily as with the
Windoze-drivers. You can edit the settings for the AGP-Support, the
Cursor Shadow, the nVidia-Logo, for Digital Vibrance Control and, of
course, TwinView.

Furthermore, YanC offers the possibility to run your OpenGL-applications
(e.g. games) with your favourite settings for antialiasing, anisotropic
texture filtering and vsync to blank without difficult command-line
operations.

I request an adopter for the grep-dctrl package.

I have special requirements for the adopter of this package.
Watch this bug for details. In the meantime, contact me
before doing anything (certainly before retitling this bug or
making the new-maintainer upload).

The package description is:
The grep-dctrl program can answer such questions as
   * "What is the Debian package foo?"
   * "Which version of the Debian package bar is now current?"
   * "Which Debian packages does John Doe maintain?"
   * "Which Debian packages are somehow related to the Scheme
  programming language?"
 and with some help
   * "Who maintain the essential packages of a Debian system?"
 given a useful input file.
 .
It is a specialised grep program that is meant for processing any
file which has the general format of a Debian package control file.
These include the dpkg available file, the dpkg status file, and the
Packages files on a distribution medium (such as a Debian CD-ROM or
 an FTP site carrying Debian).

Bug#181273: RFA: vmnet -- A simple virtual networking program

2003-02-16 Thread Matt Zimmerman
Package: wnpp
Version: unavailable; reported 2003-02-16
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the vmnet package.
The package description is:
This program has been written to implement virtual networking
support for the Hercules S/390 simulator, but it is intentionally
generic in its functionality, so any other virtual machine
simulator/emulator program could potentially use it.
 .
 The function is quite simple:
  - The virtual machine simulator program starts VMnet and talks
the SLIP protocol with it over stdin/out.
  - VMnet sets up a SLIP connection on the host system, talking over a
pseudo-tty to the VMnet program.
  - Once things have been set up, VMnet simply copies the data streams
between stdin/out and the SLIP psuedo-tty in both directions.
Thus, the virtual machine has a direct SLIP connection with the host,
without needing to worry about root privileges, pseudo-ttys, access
 rights, etc.

This program is more or less obsoleted by the tun driver in 2.4 kernels, and
as such I do not use it anymore. It is possible that it is still useful to
someone, and if that someone would step forward to maintain it, that would
be good. Otherwise, I will suggest that it be removed from Debian.

Hello, did you get an answer from the author? What is the status of
this ITP?

Bug#181295: ITP: uligo -- tsumego (go problems) practice tool

2003-02-16 Thread Joe Wreschnig

* Package name: uligo
  Version : 0.2
  Upstream Author : Ulrich Goertz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.g0ertz.de/uligo/
* License : GNU GPL v2 or later
Description : tsumego (go problems) practice tool

To get stronger at the game of go, it is essential to develop one's
reading ability. That is why professionals recommend study of life and
death or tesuji (clever offensive moves) problems. uliGo is a program
that allows you to do that: the computer displays a problem, and asks for
the answer. You enter the first move, the computer responds, and so on
until you reach the final solution or enter a wrong move.

uliGo includes a stop clock, support for multiple solution paths, and
random color selection and board rotation (to avoid rote memorization).
It uses the standard SGF format for its problems, so you can easily
create your own using any SGF editor (such as CGoban).

At some point, I will also probably package a large (~2000) set of
non-free and classical tsumego to go with the program. The program
does come with a set of 80 problems that are free (either by the author,
or very old).

Thanks for your offer! I've already a sponsor (Norbert Tretkowski,
[EMAIL PROTECTED]), so this is not a problem.

There are two problems in the source code that prevent a clean packaging
of it. Upstream knows the problem and is working on it.

bye

If you want to ask this question of the person who volunteered to
package phoenix, then you very probably need to Cc: him directly. Random
follow-ups to bug reports go to the maintainer (which is a mailing
list), not the bug submitter.
