Bug#174875: adoption of pppoeconf package

2003-03-07 Thread Michael Wardle
Hi

I recently installed an ADSL connection at home, and used pppoeconf to
configure it. I noticed a few problems with it, and would be interested
to help improve it and/or maintain this package if you desire.

I have a moderate amount of experience with Bourne shell, C shell, Perl,
pppd, and wvdial. I am still fairly new to PPPoE and DSL, but would
like to learn some more.

Please let me know if there's anything I can help with.

Just when I was about to file an ITP after helping upstream convert

This has been put together from the free (GPLed) music files available on

I'll take over these two games. I've already packaged other SDL based

* License : GPL and Perl Artistic
Description : Database connection caching and organization

Ima::DBI attempts to organize and facilitate caching and more
efficient use of database connections and statement handles.
 .
One of the things that can be annoying about writing large programs
with DBI is making sure that you do not have duplicate database
handles open. There is also the issue of the somewhat wasteful nature
of the prepare/execute/finish route that users tend to go through.
 .
The new DBI-connect_cached and DBI-prepare_cached help a lot, but
you still have to throw around global information about the data
 source, username and password.
 .
So, after a while the author grew a small library of DBI helper
routines and techniques. Ima::DBI is the culmination of all this,
put into a nice(?), clean(?) class to be inherited from.

  Description : Automated accessor generator

The Class::Accessor module automagically generates accessor/mutators
 for your class.
 .
Most of the time, writing accessors is an exercise in cutting and
pasting. If you make your module a subclass of Class::Accessor and
declare your accessor fields with mk_accessors() then you will find
yourself with a set of automatically generated accessors which can
 even be customized.

There's already a gtk2 version in the OpenSSH distribution. Why can't
this one replace it?

In this vein, it would be very nice if something was done about #167582.

can you call your package ssh-askpass-gtk, instead? this would seem to
go along better with the other ssh-askpass (-gnome), and i think we have
decided (on -gtk-gnome) not to call end gtk2/gnome2 packages with a 2.
