Bug#189375: ITP: libdb3-ruby

2003-04-17 Thread akira yamada
Package: wnpp
Severity wishlist

BDB http://moulon.inra.fr/ruby/bdb.html> is Berkeley DB interface
for Ruby. libdb3-ruby provides BDB which links to libdb-3.so.

libdb-ruby is already provided. It has Bug#154727. libdb3-ruby is
solution for the situation of the bug. I also intend to package
libdb{2,4.1}-ruby.

I wouldn't put mozilla in the package name, since the package will also be
useful to phoenix/firebird.

BTW, Joe Barnett already packaged it, but did not make an ITP, so if you
didn't start packaging, you should try to contact him, i guess (see

I'm considering writing a set of tools to manage mozilla/phoenix/firebird
extensions packaging.

Package name and description may change in the future.

Description : Java libraries for Debian bts interaction

com.tildemh.debbug java packages containing classes for representing Debian
bug tracking system (bts) reports and bug listings (e.g. for a particular
package or maintainer). This includes methods for downloading and parsing bug
reports and listings from bugs.debian.org; This is currently done by parsing
the normal html, similar to reportbug's actions. Local copies of bug reports
and listings are stored in a Cache, to enable fast lookup, or offline
reading of bug reports. Developer documentation for this library may
be found in the libdebbug-java-doc package.
 .
These libraries are currently in development. Please do not use them for
anything important. If you would like to integrate them in your own
application, or would like to help with their development, please contact the
 author.
 .
This library is used by the applications found in the debbuggtk package.

Graphical applications for interacting with the Debian bug tracking

   * BugWatcher - Application for monitoring bug listings. This will
eventually work in a similar vein to an email client or news reader -
you will subscribe to packages (email accounts / news groups) and then
see the list of non-archived bugs (emails / news postings). When you
read a bug, it will be marked as read. After synchronisation, any
changed bug reports will be highlighted.
  .
   * BugViewer - Fetches and displays bug reports
  .
   * BugLister - Fetches and displays bug listings for a package / source
package
  / maintainer / submitter.

A screenshot of current development of BugWatcher can be seen at
http://tildemh.com.tmp/debbuggtk/20021227.png. Tarballs of the latest
development will be posted on request if anyone wants them (My net
connection is very poor at the moment).
The program is in a functional state, but is not yet ready for a
release. Progress is being hampered by compatibility problems with free
jre's and java-gnome.

If anyone is interested in helping with this or the associated library,
please let me know.

The Sleuth Kit allows an investigator examine the file systems of a suspect
computer in a non-intrusive fashion. The Sleuth Kit is a collection of
UNIX-based command line tools that can analyze NTFS, FAT, FFS, EXT2FS, and
EXT3FS file systems. The Sleuth Kit reads and processes the file system
structures itself and therefore operating system support for the file systems
is not required. Furthermore, these can be used during Incident Response on
live systems to bypass the kernel and view files that are being hidden by
rootkits.

Description: Internet redirection server
rinetd redirects TCP connections from one IP address and port to another.
rinetd is a single-process server which handles any number of connections
to the address/port pairs specified in the file /etc/rinetd.conf. Since
rinetd runs as a single process using nonblocking I/O, it is able to
redirect a large number of connections without a severe impact on the
machine. This makes it practical to run services on machines inside an IP
 masquerading firewall.

Description: Free Lemmings(tm) clone
Pingus is a Lemmings clone distributed freely under the GPL. Pingus is being
developed using the ClanLib Game SDK, which allows it to run under a variety
 of platforms.
 .
Pingus will eventually have two main gameplay modes. Both modes will feature
submodes for multiplay over Internet, LAN or split screen.
 .
In the first mode, it will run as a full featured lemmings clone, with all of
the basic action pingus (digger, bridger, etc.). This mode will also be
extensible and allow inclusion of new action pingus and levels. This is the
 only available mode right now.
 .
The other mode will be a worms clone, with bazooka pingus, different weapons,
etc. Implementation of this mode will be started after completely finishing
 the lemmings mode.
 .
This package contains only the binary for running Pingus.
 .
 Pingus' website is at http://pingus.seul.org

Pingus is a free Lemmings clone. For several years now, the upstream
code has not been in very good shape. A new release (0.6.0) is now
imminent and is an enormous improvement. It does not have very many
levels yet, but is very much playable.

Unless someone has objections, I would like to take over maintainance
of this package. The previous maintainer of pingus was Martin Butterweck
(blendi), who died last year. I think it is appropriate if I remember his
work in the README.Debian.

I intend to orphan the sabre package, I no longer use it.

The package description is:
SABRE is an on-going game development for the Linux Operating System,
worked on as a labor of love by flight-simulation enthusiasts.
 .
For now, SABRE is focusing on the older jets and piston-engined
fighters of the Korean War / Cold War era. Featured are F-86 SabreJet,
MiG-15, F-84 ThunderJet, F-51 Mustang, and Yak-9. All of the planes in
the game can be flown by the player as well as the computer pilots.
