I thought Nick Estes wanted to adopt the package... but I'll leave it up to the two of you to decide who is going to take the package... That I do, which is why I renamed the wnpp bug from O: to ITA:, made a new package, and found a sponsor... I have a lintian clean package ready including the new upstream version and a fix to bug #188282. It also cleans up a few other things in the package. I found a sponsor for it since I am not yet a Debian developer, and assuming he doesn't find problems with it, he thought he would be able to upload it for me sometime today (tho I havn't heard anything further since yesterday). I suppose I should have posted an update to the bug when I renamed it to prevent confusion. (-= --Nick

Bug#190184: RFP: chandler -- personal information manager email, calendars, contacts, tasks etc
Robin, can you shed any light on the python2.3 dependency or projections for a broader release of chandler? They're using 2.3 eventhough it is alpha because it has better integration for the framework builds on OS X which is required to use GUI apps. Other than that I think that all the other components are the newest released versions, but they like having copies of the sources in their own source trees to make it easier to encorporate bug fixes and to customize the build process. The current release is really just a developer preview of the architecture and the APIs so I don't think it makes sense to try and make Debian packages for it. If someone wants to look at the architecture or to start developing to the API then doing it in the full Chandler source tree probably makes the most sense at this time. Doing a build will install into the Chandler tree and won't touch the rest of the system. -- Robin Dunn Software Craftsman http://wxPython.org Java give you jitters? Relax with wxPython!

Bug#176328: O: gnosamba -- A graphical configuration utility for Samba
retitle 176328 please remove gnosamba reassign 176328 ftp.debian.org thanks * Steve Langasek [EMAIL PROTECTED] [2003-01-11 21:21]: This package has the same version in potato and in sid, whereas Samba itself has gone through two major revisions (2.0 - 2.2 - 3.0) in this time. Upstream development for this application seems to be dead. Although it can read Samba 3.0 config files, its outdated list of available config options may do more harm than good for someone trying to create a fresh Samba 3.0 config. Indeed, the software seems to provide little advantage over a GUI text editor, and has several disadvantages compared to SWAT. Don't adopt this package unless you intend to take on upstream's job and get the program in shape for Samba 3.0. If no one adopts, I will either file for removal or turn this into a dummy package for launching SWAT before sarge's release. Let's remove it now. -- Martin Michlmayr [EMAIL PROTECTED]

BTW the new maintaner of upsd will be Nick Estes. NUT is a much larger system than what upsd is meant to do. Basically, if you are resource limited, or just need something simple to use init's powerfail events then upsd might be what you're looking for.
