This has been part of the bash package for some time:

bash (2.05a-4) unstable; urgency=high

  [...]
  * Add a script for programmable bash completion (version 1.53) from
http://www.caliban.org/bash/index.shtml#completion. Add commented
code into /etc/bash.bashrc and (closes: #127645).
  [...]

 -- Matthias Klose <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sat, 12 Jan 2002 16:00:08 +0100

2.05a-4 is older than the version in stable, and in unstable Matthias
keeps the completion code reasonably up to date.

Bug#192816: ITP: python-numarray -- An array processing package modelled after Python-Numeric

2003-05-10 Thread Matthias Klose
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2003-05-10
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: python-numarray
  Version : 0.5
  Upstream Author : Various
* URL : http://www.stsci.edu/resources/software_hardware/numarray
* License : see below
Description : The "sucessor" for python-numeric.

Numarray is a set of extensions to the Python programming language
which allows Python programmers to efficiently manipulate large sets
of objects organized in grid-like fashion. These sets of objects are
called arrays, and they can have any number of dimensions.
 .
This is a reimplementation of the earlier Numeric module (aka
numpy). For the most part, the syntax of numarray is identical to
that of Numeric, although there are significant differences. The
differences are primarily in new features.

This package should be regarded as obsoleted by either the winbind or
the libpam-krb5 package. It is a developmental dead-end, with an
inactive upstream, and its attempt to provide NT domain-style
authentication without the cooperation of the NT domain admins (to say
nothing of permitting the user to make his security dependent on a
Win9x machine) results in a fragile model that's vulnerable to MITM
attacks. I see no reason why anyone should still be using this PAM
module, nor why anyone should be given an opportunity to adopt it.
Please remove it from the archive.

Description: Flexible IDL Compiler Kit
Flick is a flexible and optimizing compiler for interface
definition languages (IDLs). Flick can read a high-level
specification describing an interface to a software component
or module, and from that, produce a special functions called
stubs to implement the interface in the C or C++ programming
 language.
 .
More information can be found at the FLICK web site
 http://www.cs.utah.edu/flux/flick/.

[*] Justification: the maintainer currently has 17 open RC bugs (not
counting those fixed in NMUs). Several NMUs were done, at least two
packages (pwlib, usbview) have already been hihacked, the maintainer
does not respond to mails.

WEMI is a branch of the SEMI package using widgets. It is a library
adding MIME features to Emacs, based on SEMI, which also available as
a Debian package. It is a replacement of SEMI, containing all of
 SEMI's features.
 .
WEMI does not support anything older than Emacs 19.28 or XEmacs
19.14. WEMI also does not support Emacs 19.29 to 19.34, XEmacs
19.15 or XEmacs 20.2 without mule, but WEMI may work with them.

I'm orphaning ezmanage, both as the upstream author and as the
Debian maintainer, as I no longer use mailing lists under
qmail. If you want to step up to the plate, please get a
Sourceforge.net account and tell me, and I'll transfer the
whole project to you.

More information about ezmanage is available at

(Note, if you reply to this, make sure you don't send mail

over the past few months my life has become way too busy with work,
finishing my thesis, work, preparing to move to the u.s., and work.
it appears that things are only getting worse for the short term
future.

due to this, i have not been giving my packages the attention they
deserve. therefore, i will be offering them up for adoption, in the
hope that other developers will take better care of them.

tya [contrib] - a just-in-type compiler for the blackdown jdk

Description: Jikes Parser Generator
Jikes Parser Generator is a parser generator that accepts as input an
annotated description for a language grammar and produces text files

 .
It also provides support for automatic diagnosis and recovery from syntactic

Generator can generate parsers for LALR(k) grammars and produce output
suitable for use with parsers written in Java, C, or C++.

Package: wnpp

This package has been orphaned for quite a while. The original WNPP
bug was closed in error (and cannot be reopened since it's in the
archive already). See #68054.

Maintainer: Michael Meskes <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Description: A graphical frontend for PostgreSQL
MPSQL provides users with a graphical SQL interface to PostgresSQL.
MPSQL is similar to Oracle's SQL Worksheet and MS SQL Server's query tool.

| From: Daniel Stone <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

| mpsql has been renamed to kpsql, and is no longer an active project,
| anyway; there will be no new upstream versions.

Is this a reason to remove mpsql from Debian? Michael, what do you
think?

As indicated in the excerpt from bug #87344 below, Darren Benham has
orphaned chpp. By the way, Darren, no, I didn't find upstream source,
but only because I didn't look for it - I was just trying to get the
package up to a releasable standard. There are still a couple of bugs
that an adopter could fix.

Cheers,

Did you find upstream source? Last I checked, the page was down... either
eay, I've orphaned it... it can be removed or whatever. Should have Q&A as
maintainer atleast.

The current maintainer of youbin, Masato Taruishi <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>,
has orphaned this package. If you want to be the new maintainer,
please take it -- fix the outstanding bugs and upload a new version
with your name in the Maintainer: field.

Some information about this package:

Package: youbin
Priority: optional
Section: mail
Installed-Size: 123
Maintainer: Masato Taruishi <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Architecture: i386
Version: 2.13-12
Depends: libc6, libc6 (>= 2.1)
Suggests: youbin-client, xyoubin
Filename: dists/potato/main/binary-i386/mail/youbin_2.13-12.deb
Size: 53286
MD5sum: 3600aaf77231f4216f4709b4af25faa7
Description: The conventional mail arrival notification server.
Youbin is a kind of biff in the network age. When youbin is used, the
mail spool of a certain, specific machine (mail server) is observed to
inform the arrival of mail to a user at an arbitrary machine through
the network. On the other hand, the conventional "biff" informs only
the user who logs in at the machine with the mail spool. Combining
with POP, youbin eliminate a lot of NFS mount of mail spool for mail
 arrival checking.
 .
Since youbin is designed with event driven, the user is promptly
informed of status change of mail spool caused by mail arriving and
 reading.

I no longer use rrlogind as I no longer have a cable modem. They haven't
updated the code for quite some time so most likely there will be little or
no updates to this.

Here is a description of the package:

Description: Login daemon for the Road Runner Cable Modem Service
Login daemon for the Road Runner Cable Modem Service. You need a dhcp
client as well. This program takes care of the authentication piece
for the Road Runner Cable Modem Service.
These areas include, but are not limited to: North Eastern
Ohio, Columbus Ohio, Austin Texas, Hawaii, Tampa Bay Fla,
 and Charlotte NC.

icqlib is the most feature complete, open source, library implementation
of Mirabilis' ICQ protocol available on the Internet. icqlib currently
supports approximately 90% of the ICQ UDP v5 protocol and 80% of the
ICQ TCP v2 protocol, including new UIN registration, chat, and file
 transfer.

I've never really used xftp at all, and I've just had cause to rebuild
it after a bug report. The source is full of warnings and I'm not
really bothered about maintaining it any more. Anyone?

Due to lack of time, I'm unable to properly maintain the linuxconf package
any longer. It's a large package so probably a team of maintainers is the
best solution if this package should be kept in Debian.

A list of things to de done can be found in
/usr/share/doc/linuxconf/README.Debian

I orphan freetds-jdb because
 - I do not use it any more and so I can=B4t verify problems.
 - Some newly adopted packages will require my spare time

Hints for future maintainers: Seemed kind of a running gag that I regula=
rly
asked for a usual naming convention for snapshots on the freetds mailing =
list.
I was ignored all the time. So please double check file date and size if
you want to package a new snapshot version, because it is not recognizabl=
e
from filename. The latest stable version is unusable and very outdated.
No problems with the snapshot code over several trials.

The package is lintian clean with exception of
  E: freetds-jdbc source: build-depends-without-arch-dep
against the source and has no open bugs currently in the BTS.

Have fun

   Andreas.

unbuildable (see bug #162438). I'm not able to change the maintainer
field and to upload a new version.

debian directory is actually maintained in upstream CVS repository,
so who intends to adopt libcomprex can ask him if a new CVS access is
available.

The package description is:
The libcomprex library transparently handles automatic compression and
decompression of files. The API is similar to C's built-in file access
functions, which provides a smooth transition to libcomprex. libcomprex
can also open uncompressed files, making it a good replacement for the
 native file access functions.
 .
Contains the symlinks, headers, and object files needed to compile
and link programs which use the libcomprex library.
 .
More informations can be found at the GNUpdate website
 http://www.gnupdate.org/ .

I think this may have been obsoleted by SANE...at least, I previously used
this program, and now use the hp driver with SANE, which provides everything
I need.

Please don't promote applying for NM. Promote doing work instead.
After people have done excellent work for a while, they can apply for

Just FYI... Finally Mexico has also a DD in the team, which happens to
be me ;-) And I am taking Bdale's advice as a rule: I am trying to get
more people involved... This month I am giving 6 presentations (!) all
over the country - Some are to lure people into Free Software, some
(with more technical audiences) are to promote applying for NM. In fact,
I think I will broadcast one of the conferences live with Icecast - Will
keep you posted, in case someone is interested. It will be in Spanish,
though, ;-) But... I hope it is useful.

(BTW, Miguel Ángel Hernández, from Veracruz city in Mexico, is already
in the NM queue)
