Bug#196455: ITP: wv2 -- a library for converting Microsoft Word documents

2003-06-06 Thread Ben Burton

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

Hi all. I intend to package the wv2 library with binary packages libwv2-1 and
libwv2-dev. Although wv2 and wv are distributed from the same website, they
are shipped as different source packages on different release cycles. I
tried some months ago to contact the wv maintainer to see if (s)he is
planning to upload wv2 but received no response. I'd thus like to package
wv2 myself since it is required by newer versions of koffice.

Package name: wv2
Version: 0.0.9
URL: http://wvware.sourceforge.net/
License: LGPL

Upstream Authors: Dom Lachowicz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, Shaheed Haque
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, Werner Trobin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and David Faure
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.

Description: a library for accessing Microsoft Word documents

The wv2 library allows access to Microsoft Word documents, for the purpose of
converting them to other formats. This library is intended as an eventual
replacement for the wv library.

I'll take it, since I'm already maintaining most of the other Perl XML modules.

Description: a unit testing interface for Perl
Test::Unit is the procedural style interface to a sophisticated
unit testing framework for Perl that is derived from the JUnit
testing framework for Java by Kent Beck and Erich Gamma.
 .
While this framework is originally intended to support unit
testing in an object-oriented development paradigm (with support
for inheritance of tests etc.), Test::Unit is intended to
provide a simpler interface to the framework that is more
suitable for use in a scripting style environment.

Justification: RC bugs, hasn't responded to my pings

Description : NAT/masquerading/port-forwarding configuration tool for KDE

Guidedog is a KDE utility which allows to use easily activate and
configure your machine for packet routing, Network Address
Translation/IP Masquerading (NAT) and port-forwarding.
.
If you are using the functions of this program, it is recommended that
you setup/configure a firewall to protect your machine - guidedog does
not setup a firewall for you. To configure a firewall, the Guarddog
program, by the same author, is recommended.
.
Guidedog requires iptables, and therefore Linux kernel 2.4+.

Guidedog nicely complements Guarddog, which I already maintain.

The package has been uploaded to experimental and is pending ftpmaster
approval. In the mean time, the same package is available from

deb http://q.bofh.de/~mh/debian/libproc-daemon-perl/sid /
deb-src http://q.bofh.de/~mh/debian/libproc-daemon-perl/sid /

This bug will be closed by the first upload to unstable.

Greetings
Marc

Description : Nested Build System of Debian Source Package

I'm writing a debian build system to create debian binary packages
such that their original upstream sources include debian source
packages. In build-time, this system unpacks their original debian
source packages by 'dpkg-source -x' and propagates policy-defined
targets of debian/rules to the unpacked build-tree.

Description: Nested Build System of Debian Source Package
Debnest provides a build system to create debian binary packages
such that original upstream sources include debian source packages,
i.e. .dsc and other files such as .orig.tar.gz and diff.gz, or .tar.gz.
 .
 This allows as follows:
  * Manage your own debian/ such as debian/rules, debian/control,
debian/changelog and so on separately away from their original
packages.
  * Create your own tuned packages with your own DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS,
CC or something like that from their original packages without
specifying environment variables.
  * Create your own tuned packages with applying pathces to their
original sources as well as debian/* files separating
them completely away from their original source packages.
  * Make it possible to redisribute debian binaries which restrict
source-code from being distributed in modified form _only_ by
the distribution of "patch files" with the source code for the
purpose of modifying the program at build time.

Description: Support for printing to ZjStream-based printers

foo2zjs is an open source printer driver for printers that use the
Zenographics ZjStream wire protocol for their print data, such as the
Minolta/QMS magicolor 2200 DL and 2300 DL and HP LaserJet 1000 and
1005. These printers are often erroneously referred to as winprinters
or GDI printers. However, Microsoft GDI only mandates the API between
an application and the printer driver, not the protocol on the wire
between the printer driver and the printer. In fact, ZjStream printers
are raster printers which happen to use a very efficient wire protocol
which was developed by Zenographics and licensed by most major printer
manufacturers for at least some of their product lines. ZjStream is
just one of many wire protocols that are in use today, such as
Postscript, PCL, Epson, etc.

The package request is attached.

Description : Prototype implementation of the IETF RSerPool architecture

Rsplib is a prototype implementation of the IETF RSerPool architecture. It
provides a session layer protocol framework for the development of high
availability applications. This prototype contains an implementation of the
ASAP protocol, a nameserver and an example for a pool element and a pool
user. It currently supports Linux, FreeBSD and Darwin OS.

This implementation is the product of a cooperation between Siemens AG (ICN),
Munich, Germany and the Computer Networking Technology Group at the IEM of
the University of Essen, Germany. See our project homepage
http://tdrwww.exp-math.uni-essen.de/dreibholz/rserpool/ for details.

Description : perl extension for statvfs()

Filesys::Statvfs provides an interface between Perl and the statvfs()
system call.

Filesys::Df uses Filesys::Statvfs to obtain filesystem statistics then
creates additional filesystem information such as percent full, user and
superuser differentials, etc.

This module differs from libfilesys-diskfree in that it does call
statfs() directly and does not rely on the output of /bin/df.

Mozilla-bonobo is a browser plugin. It "bridges" the browser to Bonobo, the

it should work on many different browsers.

In short: this plugin makes your browser use Bonobo controls to display
supported file types inside the browser window or frame.

Description : A LiveJournal client for the GNOME desktop

Drivel is a LiveJournal.com client for the GNOME desktop.

It supports all livejournal-based servers, and allows you to perform
most functions that are supported by the server (posting, friends editing,
friend groups, friend page checking, post editing etc).

It is designed to utilize the new features of GNOME 2.0 including GConf and
GTK 2.0.

I'm currently in the NM queue, and Chris Butler ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) will
be sponsoring my upload.

  Description : LaTeX style/inputencoding für UTF-8 (Unicode)

The package name is stolen from the corresponding SuSE package.
I couldn't find any information in the tetex archives, whether or not
the package will be included.

The upstream README:

---

=== ucs.sty ===

This package contains support for using UTF-8 as input encoding in
LaTeX documents.

See INSTALL for installation instructions.

The simplest use of this package is to add
\usepackage{ucs}
\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}
to your header. You may even omit the first line in many cases.

The tables with LaTeX macros for the glyphs does not contain many
entries yet. If your particular script is not supported, and you add
the macros to the config files (see INSTALL and perldoc
makeunidef.pl), please mail me those config files, and together with
informations, if special packages or LaTeX versions are needed for
these macros. Please do only supply macros, which generate aesthetic
glyphs, no hacks. See also
http://www.unruh.de/DniQ/latex/unicode/submitchar.html.

Bug#108931: libapache-mod-cvs

2003-06-06 Thread Mike Hommey
Hi Baruch

Looking for this kind of module for apache, I found this kinda orphaned ITP.
You told almost 2 years ago that the package was mostly packages, that's a
pity it's not been uploaded since ;)
Do you want to (finally ;) ) upload a package ? If not and if you don't mind,
I'll take the ITP.

Regards,

Mike

Bug#196383: RFP: libxml-nodefilter-perl -- A generic node-filter class for DOM traversal

2003-06-06 Thread Marc Haber
A preliminary, untested package for sid (targeted for experimental
though) can be apted from
deb http://q.bofh.de/~mh/debian/libxml-nodefilter-perl/sid /
deb-src http://q.bofh.de/~mh/debian/libxml-nodefilter-perl/sid /

The package was quite straightforward to build with the output of
dh-make-perl and is lintian and linda clean.

If somebody wants to take the package, please feel free to use my
preliminary package.

Bug#196383: RFP: libxml-nodefilter-perl -- A generic node-filter class for DOM traversal

2003-06-06 Thread Marc Haber
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2003-06-06
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: libxml-nodefilter-perl
  Version : 0.01
  Upstream Author : Christian Glahn
* URL : downloadeable from CPAN
* License : perl
Description : A generic node-filter class for DOM traversal

XML::NodeFilter is a generic node-filter class for DOM traversal as
specified in the DOM Level 2 Traversal and Range specification. It
extends that specification so this class is more easy to use for perl
programmers.

The package is needed for later versions of libxml-libxml-perl and
thus should be packaged. It is probably a good idea to have the
package packaged by somebody familiar with the perl XML modules.

Bug#196298: ITP: gtk2-theme-switch -- Easily install, switch, and preview GTK+ 2.x themes

2003-06-06 Thread Alex de Landgraaf
Hey Joshua,

just wanted to let you know that there are packages available, had packaged them
for myself some time ago (just uploaded them to
http://am.xs4all.nl/morphix/debs). Wasn't in any rush to get sponsoring for
them, but you might want to check them out anyway (not that dh_make was a lot of
work... :)

Cheers,
Alex

Doesn't it make infinitely more sense to have gtk-theme-switch handle
*both* gtk 1.x and gtk 2.x themes? Why do we need two packages for
 essentially the same program?
