Bug#190922: gnome-randr-applet uploaded to experimental

2003-08-08 Thread Sven Luther
Hello,

I have just uploaded gnome-randr-applet to experimental since the first
4.3.0 package has been uploaded there also. I will keep this bug open
until i can upload gnome-randr-applet to unstable though.

It is still sitting in the NEW queue with xfree86 though.

Bug#204555: ITP: pconsole -- parallel console shell for administering clusters

Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2003-08-08
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: pconsole
  Version : 1.0
Upstream Author : Walter de Jong [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://www.heiho.net/pconsole/index.html
* License : GPL
Description : parallel console shell for administering clusters

pconsole allows you to connect to each node of your cluster simultaneously,
and you can type your administrative commands in a specialized window that
'multiplies' the input to each of the connections you have opened.
pconsole is best run from within X Windows, although it is possible to
employ it without X (in console mode) as well.
You need to install pconsole on only 1 machine in the cluster, this would
usually be your central administrative node.

Hi,

I've taken a quick look at this and it looks almost perfect.

You just need a pointer in debian/copyright to where you downloaded the
source from.

Other than that, it's fine and I'll happily upload it for you as soon as you
fix the copyright (just mailing me a diff against it is fine)

Cheers,
Stephen

May I jump in here?

I do not question your ITP. I am just interested in how pconsole
works.

- The only machine that needs pconsole installed is my local
workstation?
- No dedicated installation (and no additional suid root binary) is
necessary on the target machines?
- root privileges on the local box are necessary to attach to the pty?

Thanks for your comments.

CHMLIB is a library for dealing with Microsoft ITSS/CHM format files.
Right now, it is a very simple library, but sufficient for dealing with
all of the .chm files I've come across. Due to the fairly well-designed
indexing built into this particular file format, even a small library is
able to gain reasonably good performance indexing into ITSS archives.

=46rom the website:

OddcastV2 - XMMS is made up of two separate programs. The first is an
XMMS effect plugin does the very simple task of taking the audio data
from XMMS and sending it to the second program which is a standalone
 program called (aptly enough) oddcastv2.

Obviously, this is not a very good long description for the final
result. I am open to suggestions.

This will depend on the oddcast package previously ITP'd. Upstream
distributes these pieces of software in one tarball; they may or may
not be built from a single source package in the end. As I understand
it, both pieces should be usable seperately.

The upstream author of this software has been contacted; I am waiting
for a reply before beginning serious packaging work.

Bug#156461: autoinstall status

2003-08-08 Thread Paul Telford

[ cc'ing the BTS as this affects my ITP ]

Jeff,

Can you please give an update on the current/future status of
autoinstall? It appears to be effectively abandoned based on the
outstanding bugs and their age. I have heard that progeny is abandoning
autoinstall for a new solution, can you clarify if and when this is
happening?

Thanks,

I intend to orphan the xzoom package. There is no upstream that I'm
aware of, so maintenance of this package boils down to keeping it up to
day with policy and occassional recompiles against new releases of X.

The package description is:
Like xmag, xzoom magnifies a section of the X display. Xzoom is different
because it will continuously update the magnified area as the display
changes. It is fast enough to enlarge small animations, for example.

Bug#200580: RFS: xmms-null -- null output plugin for XMMS

2003-08-08 Thread Keegan Quinn
I'm seeking a sponsor for my xmms-null[1] package.

Description: null output plugin for XMMS
XMMS output plugin which simply throws the signal away. Useful for
testing and benchmarking. Also useful for nullifying the output
when using a DSP plugin for broadcasting, or if you don't have a
 soundcard.

Packages are available at these APT sources:

deb http://rune.thebasement.org/debian unstable keegan
deb-src http://rune.thebasement.org/debian unstable keegan

An ITP bug has been filed; #200580.

The Debian revision should probably be bumped up to -1, and a changelog
entry which Closes: #200580 should be added, but I'd appreciate if
someone could take a look at them before I add these finishing touches.

The packaging is very simple, using cdbs, the common Debian build
system. An ideal sponsor would be somewhat familiar with both XMMS
and cdbs.

Thanks,

 - Keegan
