I sent the one change I hadn't uploaded yet to the Alioth patch manager.
I also bumped the debhelper dependancy to 4 from 3.0.5.

I'd be interested in contributing to continuing dh-make-perl
development. How about we remove the part about "orphaned" from the
Alioth description? Sounds like we have enough interested maintainers.

I intend to orphan the cint package.
The package description is:
Cint (pronounced "C-int") is a C/C++ interpreter. It has 80-90% coverage
of K&R-C, ANSI-C and C++ language constructs (multiple inheritance, virtual
functions, function overloading, operator overloading, default parameters,
templates, etc.) Cint is solid enough to interpret its own source code and
let the interpreted interpreter interpret a (small) program. With the
program "makecint" it is possible to mix native code execution and
interpretation by linking to precompiled libraries.
 .
Cint is not aimed to be a 100% ANSI/ISO compliant C++ language processor.
It rather is a portable script language environment which is close enough
 to the standard C++.
 .
 See for detailed information.

None of the facts that it is UNIX-hosted, curses-based or originally
DOS freeware i necessary to mention in the documentation. It doesn't
give any information about what it is.

Well, 'Curses-based game [description of game]' might be ok.

I don't think so? I possibly had noticed that there was more than one

I request an adopter for the docbook-to-man package.
The package description is:
The docbook-to-man tool is a batch converter that transforms
UNIX-style manpages from the DocBook SGML DTD into nroff/troff -man
macros. This is not the original version by Fred Dalrymple, but
one with the ANS modifications by David Bolen.

New maintainer: You should know roff to fix some open bugs.
There's no upstream maintainer. The tool is very useful,
anyway.

I orphaned the leakbug package, it should be in pretty good shape.

debian directory is actually maintained in upstream CVS repository,
so who intends to adopt leakbug can ask him if a new CVS access is
available.

The package description is:
Leakbug is a memory leak tracer that specializes in detecting leaks
from the program's own calls to malloc(), strdup(), etc. It does not
 detect leaks from outside libraries.
 .
Contains the symlinks, headers, and object files needed to compile
and link programs which use the libleakbug library.
 .
More informations can be found at the GNUpdate website
 http://www.gnupdate.org/ .

cpudyn controls the speed in Intel SpeedStep, Pentium 4 Mobile,

battery, lowers temperature, and can put the computer disks in standby
mode if a given period has passed without any I/O operation. It works
well even with journaled file systems such as Ext3, XFS, or ReiserFS.

It would be interesting if this ships its own webserver (like cups) or
uses an existing one, and if so, how it is implemented (CGI,
PHP...). A quick glance at the website doesn't seem to reveal this,
too.

Hey thee, submitters of bugs...

If you expect me to fix the bug in the grsecurity kernel patch not
applying cleanly to your version of the kernel (whichever that was),
then please provide more information. Building a kernel with patches
takes more time than I have. Please give me the output of `make-kpkg
configure`, but try to trim it down to the stuff related to
grsecurity.

Also, a tarball of *just* the .rej files would be incredibly
helpful. Try to put that somewhere for download, upload it to
ftp://ftp.madduck.net/incoming, just please don't send it via email.

I will tag these bugs as wontfix if I don't receive help on them.
The reason is that 2.4.22 is out, and thus these problems are
theoretically problems of the past.

Thanks,

Bug#208339: Other greeds

2003-09-02 Thread Thomas Thurman
FWIW, there have been a few other programs called "greed" that people
have attempted to package for debian already.

One of these is an emacs-based RGTP client, which never made it into
Debian (unfortunately: I'd have liked to have seen it in the Project).
Despite this, several people including me use the software installed
from its .deb, which does use the name "greed". That may cause a bit of
confusion for its users. See

from .

There have also been attempts to package other "greed" programs, e.g.
,
an ftp client. I don't know what happened to that in the end.

Maybe it would be good to change the name of this package to something
like "greed-game"?

In that case why don't you fill a RFP.

Before packaging this games I made a apt-cache and I did not recieve any
answer. I did not see any RFP related to greed.

Nothing.

No. Because, I am not supposed to know every code name that exists on
the internet.

Greed is in the section Games, its description explain that it's a game.

What about more controversial games like nethack ?

2003-09-02 Thread Juhapekka Tolvanen

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Kombilo
http://www.u-go.net/kombilo

"Kombilo is a go database program. Its main purpose is to search for
games in which a given pattern or position occurs. You can also search
for other criteria (like time period, players, events)."

The maker of Uligo (already packaged) is behind this software.

Goban Screensaver

Goban is a program, that takes some SGF-formatted file that has some
saved Go-game. Then it replays it on Go-board. It runs fine under
XScreenSaver, too.

2003-09-02 Thread Juhapekka Tolvanen

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

ccGo
http://ccdw.org/~cjj/prog/ccgo/

ccGo is graphical front-end for GNU Go and IGS-client. It is for players
of game of Go. This program has the best GUI for IGS I have ever seen.
Its GUI for GNU Go ain't too bad, either. It can view and edit
SGF-files, too.

You can download and install ccGo with this apt-line:

deb http://ccdw.org/~cjj/files/debs/ ./

Bug#208463: ITP: tla-load-dirs -- Import upstream archives into tla/arch

2003-09-02 Thread John Goerzen
Package: wnpp
Version: unavailable; reported 2003-09-02
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: tla-load-dirs
  Version : 1.0.0
  Upstream Author : John Goerzen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://arch.complete.org/
* License : GPL
Description : Import upstream archives into tla/arch

Tom Lord's arch/tla system is capable of importing upstream directories
into a tla archive for some archives, For situations where the upstream
renames or moves files and directories on a regular basis, version
 information can be lost.
 .
tla-load-dirs works with tla to import these things and preserve
changes. It works on a principle similar to Subversion's
 svn_load_dirs.

gquiz

"It's quite generic; all you need is a directory with a bunch of files,
one file per (problem, answer) pair, and a program that will display the
problem and answer. GQuiz just randomizes the order of the questions,
eliminates consecutive repetitions (except for the last question), and
keeps track of which ones you've gotten right "enough" times to
eliminate (temporarily) from the collection, allowing you to focus on
the ones you're finding more difficult and ones you haven't seen yet."
