wnpp and bug owners
So, we've now got bug ownership in the BTS, and it occurs that we could use this productively to improve the way wnpp bugs are managed. Up to now, when people "accept" an RFP or an RFA/O by retitling it to an ITP or an ITA respectively, sometimes they change the submitter address and sometimes they don't. Changing the submitter address has the disadvantage that the original submitter never gets notified when the new package is uploaded, and both have the disadvantage that the prospective maintainer doesn't receive mails sent to the wnpp bug. Bug ownership should solve this problem: people ITPing and ITAing reports should set themselves as the owner of the bug, which is the same as saying that they're taking responsibility for fixing it, and means that they'll get mail about the bug. (Please do NOT set yourself as a bug owner just to get this subscription property! We'll provide a facility for that fairly soon.) I'd like to commit the following patch to /devel/wnpp/. Package: wnpp Version: N/A; reported 2003-09-12 Severity: wishlist * Package name : libdscaler Version : 4.0.1 Upstream Authors : John Adcock <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Tom Barry <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> * URL : http://deinterlace.sourceforge.net * License : GPL Description : Video deinterlacer plugins from the DScaler project DScaler is a Win32 application that captures video, processes it, and scales it for presentation. It implements highly sophisticated algorithms that work in real-time, for high-quality video images. . The libdscaler package contains Dynamic Link Libraries (DLLs) from the DScaler application. They are able to: * Deinterlace video source, from both cameras and console games; * Detect and remove 2:2 pulldown (PAL) and 3:2 pulldown (NTSC) for movies and filmed television programs; * Reduce video noise on analog sources; and * Reduce jitter and other video timing anomalies. . The client periodically connects to no-ip.com's DNS servers and updates your domain name to point to your current temporary address. no-ip.com offers FREE accounts if you use a subdomain of no-ip.com (for example, vlm.no-ip.com) For a minimal cost, no-ip.com also offers various other dynamic DNS related services, such as using your own domain name instead of using one of no-ip's subdomains. Just like the original program, it's a simple application for setting preferences for the GNUstep system, with a friendly interface. . The program is simple, but powerful -- people can create new modules, called "bundles", that add new things to the program that its original developers did not think of or even intend -- that don't require recompiling the main program.
