2003-10-21 Thread Javier Fernandez-Sanguino Pena
Package: wnpp
Version: unavailable; reported 2003-10-21
Severity: normal

I no longer have the time to work on lmbench. The package is bug-clean and
is no longer being maintained upstream (as far as I can tell).

Javi

Bug#216878: RFA: gliese

2003-10-21 Thread Javier Fernández-Sanguino Peña
Package: wnpp
Version: unavailable; reported 2003-10-21
Severity: normal

I no longer have time to maintain gliese (and other astronomy related
packages). Prospective maintainers should contact me since I would like to
point out some issues in astronomy-related software in Debian that would
need to be coordinated too. Also, since starplot Suggests
'gliese', they should be taken together.

The package is in sync with upstream and lintian clean.

Bug#216879: O: roleplaying

2003-10-21 Thread Javier Fernández-Sanguino Peña
Package: wnpp
Version: unavailable; reported 2003-10-21
Severity: normal

I no longer have time to maintain roleplaying any more, and I no longer use
it myself, so it would be better of in other's hands.

The package has only one outstanding bug asking to update to upstream, but
the new upsteam release is non-free. Maintainers interested should need to
talk upstream, and decide to either remove the package from Debian or keep
the old (and unsupported) version (and clean all the lintian problems).

New upstream available at
http://www.deepsoft.com/cgi-bin/deepwoods.cgi/RolePlayingDB

Bug#216883: RFA: lmbench - Utilities to benchmark UNIX systems

2003-10-21 Thread Javier Fernández-Sanguino Peña
Package: wnpp
Version: unavailable, reported 2003-10-21
Priority: normal

I can no longer dedicate time to lmbench, so I'm orphaning this package.

Upstream version (http://www.bitmover.com/lmbench) is currently 2.0.3 and
the Debian package would need to be updated (currently 2.0) from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/lmbench/. Announcement is at
http://www.bitmover.com/pipermail/lmbench-users/2002-October/43.html
and at sourceforge. Prospective maintainers need to retrieve the new
release and update the package.

However upstream is not very active, and neither is the mailing list
(http://www.bitmover.com/pipermail/lmbench-users/).

Also notice that lmbench would need to be built in other arquitectures in
order to make it available in testing. I don't really don't know why its
not autobuilt.

Javi

I intend to orphan the libsdl-sge package.
The package description is:
SDL is a low level API and if you don't want to spend time writing
your own graphic functions (put pixel, line, circle...) you could use
 SGE instead.
 .
This package contains the libsdl-sge runtime library.

This package seems to be only needed by libsdl-ruby

Description : WindowMaker dock app that shows your current weather

wmFrog is a weather dockapp for use in Window Maker
or blakbox/fluxbox. It shows the cloud cover (sunny,
partly cloudy. etc.), precipitation (snow, light
rain, etc.) the temperature, the wind
  direction/speed, and the humidity.

It works like wmweather (fetching data according to
a given metar station) but the output is graphical.

Bug#166259: ITP: lasker -- FICS-like free internet chess server

2003-10-21 Thread Lukas Geyer
retitle 166259 RFP: lasker -- FICS-like free internet chess server
thanks

OK, I am apparently not enthusiastic enough to package lasker, some
practical problems: The CVS source contains the code for mamer, the
tournament bot, which was one of the main reasons for me to want to
package lasker. Unfortunately, the author of mamer insists on
prohibiting commercial redistribution, so it could only go into
non-free, and I don't want to promote using the non-free
archive. Andrew Tridgell never answered my questions about some
licensing clarifications, and security-wise I am not really sure how
to go about it, as it is clearly sloppy code. If someone else wants to
package it, I am ready to help, but for the moment I will just retitle
it RFP.
