  Description : Perl interface to the 2.x series of the GNOME VFS library

 libgnome2-vfs-perl provides Perl bindings for the 2.x series of the GNOME
 VFS library.
 .
 GNOME VFS is the GNOME virtual file system. It provides a modular architecture
 and ships with several modules that implement support for file systems, http,
 ftp and others. It provides a URI-based API, a backend supporting asynchronous
 file operations, a MIME type manipulation library and other features.
 .
 The perl bindings follow the C API very closely, and the C reference
 documentation should be considered the canonical source.

Regionset is a small utility which allows to display and set the
region/zone setting of a DVD drive, allowing it to decrypt the DVD's
sold in this geographical zone. Hardware vendors often limit the number
of such modifications, but it is necessary to set it at least once with
a brand new drive.

  Description : transparent POP3-proxy with virus- and spam-scanning

p3vsan uses iptables port re-direction to intercept outgoing POP3
connections. It provides different types of email scanning and is ideal
for helping to protect your "Other OS" LAN from harm, especially when
used in conjunction with a firewall and other Internet Proxy servers.

It is designed to enable scanning of incoming email messages for
virus's, worms, trojans, spam, and harmfull attachments. Because viewing
HTML mail can enable a spammer to validate an email address (via Web
bugs), it can also provide HTML stripping.

--

Note that this is going to replace pop3vscan (I'm the current
maintainer), which upstream was left in an unmaintained state. Several
attempts were made (publicly [1], and private) to get the project active
again. After a while, lots of patches had been submitted [2], and the
original maintainer was still MIA, so p3scan was created by using
pop3vscan as a base and incorporating most of the patches.

Well, i fear it will be more and more frequent as time pass.

Also, it is illegal to use such binary only files with GPLed modules
source, you have to add an explicit excemption, and the modules have to
declare themselves as proprietary.

Look at the unicorn package for an example of such (or at the
debian-legal archive for discussion of the unicorn package and licence).

Notice also that there is a GR proposal discussed in debian vote
actually, to simply quick such packages out of debian, which might
interest you.

Friendly,

Sven Luther

Hello:

I'm willing to maintain snes9express, as I use this as the GUI frontend
for playing my SNES ROMS via the SNES9x package. I've already made an
unofficial package for the latest version (currently at 1.39-beta) at
http://csdev.cas.upm.edu.ph/~pfalcone/debian.

Thank you.

 one of your favourite set of options on the fly.

[ Justification: Brian has not been around for quite a while. His last
message (from July) gives someone else permission to adopt one of his
packages (see #151708). I guess it's best for Debian to orphan all of
is packages. Wolfie, sorry I have to do this to you, and I hope you
are still out there, alive and kicking! ]

Bug#218369: Update

2004-01-13 Thread Steinar H. Gunderson
Update for those interested: The technical parts of the package are now good
(it needs some more QA, though), and the upstream version has been bumped to
3.7.0 (which fixes all known problems with 2.6 kernels, among others), but
I'm still communicating with ATI regarding the distribution (see debian-legal
for more information).

Bug#227446: ITP: equeue -- Event queues OCaml library

2004-01-13 Thread Samuel Mimram
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: equeue
  Version : 2.0
  Upstream Author : Gerd Stolpmann <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.ocaml-programming.de/programming/equeue.html
* License : Proprietary, but DFSG free
  Description : Event queues OCaml library

  Equeue is an Objective Caml (OCaml) library containing a generic
  implementation of queues of events of any type, and a specific
  implementation of queues of file descriptor events.

  The generic module allows to associate an event queue with an event
  source, and one or several event handlers. The event source generates
  new events that are triggered from the outer world. The handlers
  consume events, but it is allowed that handlers also generate events.

  The module for file descriptor events already defines an event source;
  this source watches registered file descriptors and produces events if
  a descriptor wants to deliver data, or if a descriptor is ready to
  accept data. As in the generic module, the handlers consume the
  events.

  The main application of these modules are implementations of protocol
  stacks which can cooperate with each other.

Hi,

I found a IMHO very helpful package for graphical mapping of EEG-Data.

I allready built a first package at
http://neuro.psychologie.uni-oldenburg.de/debian/dists/unstable/main/

There are some license issues because the program uses (and shipps with)
a non-free template.

I'll ask debian-legal about it.

Regards,

Roland

Can you select edge or level triggered events? Can you limit the
throughput of file descriptors?

ITP: clutils - c++ utilities package

The version of Savant that is currently in the Debian archive is
egregiously out of date. However, several things have kept me from
packaging newer versions. One of them is that it is dependent on a library
not available in Debian, namely "clutils", which is LGPL and available
from:
http://www.cliftonlabs.com/savant/download/2.0-prerelease/

I intend to package this library, enabling an upload of a newer version of
Savant.

While quaint, this description tells me almost nothing about what this
package actually does. It talks about "mixing" and various formats, and
quips as though "DDJ" should tell me everything. What is the interface
like? What does MIDI have to do with any of the other features? What
interfaces does it support to interact with hardware?

Also, your description references "DDJ", "Mixx", and "Mixxx". Which is

Bug#227604: ITP: chkconfig -- A system tool for maintaining the /etc/rc*.d hierarchy.

2004-01-13 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2004-01-11
Severity: wishlist

I am considering if I should upload the chkconfig packages used in
Skolelinux into the archive.

* Package name: chkconfig
  Version : 1.2.24h
  Upstream Author : B. Thomas Adler <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and RedHat
* URL : http://www.buttsoft.com/~thumper/downloads/chkconfig/
* License : GPL
  Description : A system tool for maintaining the /etc/rc*.d hierarchy.

Chkconfig is a basic system utility. It updates and queries runlevel
information for system services. Chkconfig manipulates the numerous
symbolic links in /etc/rc.d, to relieve system administrators of some
of the drudgery of manually editing the symbolic links.

The current package is available from
ftp://ftp.skolelinux.no/skolelinux/dists/woody/local/binary-i386/non-official/
>.

Bug#222364: pxes packages

2004-01-13 Thread Sam Johnston
Afternoon Ghe,

I was about to post to debian-devel about my pxes packages (which have
not made it into Debian yet because they include device files which
violates policy). I was going to reference ITPs I should have filed
months ago and found that you have filed 3 ITPs yourself about 6 weeks
ago. I have an immediate need for a maintainable PXES installation on
Debian servers and have been busying myself updating my 0.6-4 packages
to 0.7-1. How are your packages progressing? How do you intend to
resolve the policy violation? Have you discovered any other problems
which need attention?

Sam

Bug#227632: ITP: freefem3d -- A language and finite element solver for partial differential equations in 3D

2004-01-13 Thread Christophe Prud'homme
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: freefem3d
  Version : 1.0
  Upstream Author : [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/ff3d
* License : GPL
  Description : A language and finite element solver for partial
differential equations in 3D

FreeFEM3D (aka ff3d) is a 3D solver of partial differential equations.
 It is a member of the familly of the freefem programs (see
  http://www.freefem.org).

ff3d, as well as his cousins, is PDE solver driven by a user-friendly
anguage. It is in some sense a general solver for vectorial PDEs of
degree two (and a bit more). This makes possible to solve many kind of
problems such as elastcity, fluids (Stokes and Navier-Stokes) and a
lot more. The user only has to enter the equation associated to the
problem, giving either the PDE or the associate variational
formulation.

Since up to now, no free volumic mesher can be found, ff3d does not
use standard Finite Elements but a Fictitious Domain approach. The
geometry is described using CSG. This description is done using
the POV-Ray language but others such as VRML may be added.

The processing of the results is still let to the user. One can use
various graphic tools: OpenDX being the most powerful free software
on the market nowadays. The implementation of a VTK base visualization
module is underway.

The goal of ff3d is to provide a good teaching tool as well as to give
a research toolbox (the code is written in C++ and its design is such
that new methods can be easily implemented).

* Package name: seq24
  Version : 0.4.3
  Upstream Author : Rob C. Buse
* URL : http://www.filter24.org/seq24/
* License : GPL
  Description : Real time MIDI sequencer

 Seq24 was created to provide a very simple interface for editing and
 playing midi 'loops'. It is a very minimal sequencer that excludes the
 bloated features of the large software sequencers and includes a small
 subset that proved to be useful for live performances.

XML/Ada is a set of modules that provide a simple manipulation of XML
streams. It supports the whole XML 1.0 specifications, and can parse
any file that follows this standard (including the contents of the
DTD). It also provides support for a number of other standard
associated with XML, like SAX and DOM. In addition, It includes a
module to manipulate Unicode streams, since this is required by the
XML standard.

XML/Ada is Copyright 2001-2003 ACT-Europe, and can be obtained from
http://libre.act-europe.fr/xmlada. I will post an update to this bug
when the package is available on my repository.

Bug#222363: pxes packages

2004-01-13 Thread Sam Johnston
Diego et al,

Eliminating them altogether sounds like the best option to me. That in
mind I'll get about updating my package(s) as I've a status report
expected of me within two hours.

Bug#222366: pxes packages

2004-01-13 Thread Diego Torres Milano
It's not a bad option, but please document in some place that
devfs=nomount is no longer valid in those packages, just to prevent
dozen of emails asking why it doesn't work anymore.

Regards.

Currently Debian appears to distribute the British and American

myspell-en-gb - English (GB) dictionary for myspell
myspell-en-us - English (US) dictionary for myspell

Could someone please consider adding one for Australian English?
