  Description : Library for generic Version Control System access in Perl

 VCS is an API for abstracting access to all version control systems
 from Perl code. This is achieved in a similar fashion to the DBI
 suite of modules. There are "container" classes, VCS::Dir,
 VCS::File, and VCS::Version, and "implementation" classes, such
 as VCS::Cvs::Dir, VCS::Cvs::File, and VCS::Cvs::Version, which
 are subclasses of their respective "container" classes.

The WNPP bug basically says something similar.

RoQA; unusable/incompatible/broken, upstream vanished, needs rewrite

Yes. epic is epic3, which is no longer maintained upstream. It has some fairly
hefty differences in the scripting engine too. All epic scripts in Derbian
(that I'm aware of) are epic4 scripts.

On a related note: epic4-script-splitfire is no longer maintained upstream.
It's a horrible mess of code and orphaned (maintained by QA).

I had a look at it recently and with changes made to the epic4 scripting engine
it's almost unusable (most of the eybindings broke for example). I'd say it's
certainly ripe for a "unless someone maintains this, it should be removed" call.
 Anyone who does want to maintain it would need to know a fair bit about epic4
scripting...as it stands there's a fair bit of work required to make it work
again properly. It's close to needing a rewrite from scratch.

Bug#206691: RFS: python-matplotlib -- A python based gtk plotting system in a style similar to matlab

2004-02-29 Thread Vittorio Palmisano
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi,
I'm looking for a sponsor for python-matplotlib
(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=206691):

* Package name: python-matplotlib
  Version : 0.50
  Upstream Author : John D. Hunter  <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/
* License : Python style
  Description:
matplotlib is a pure python plotting library designed to bring publication
quality plotting to python with a syntax familiar to matlab users. Although
the goal of publication quality is not yet attained (see goals), the library
does produce high quality 2D plots. All of the plotting commands can be
accessed either via a functional interface familiar to matlab users or an
object oriented interface familiar to python users

* Package name: python-matplotlib-doc
  Description: documentation files for matplotlib, generated with pydoc

I have also packaged this libraries, from which matplotlib depends on:

* Package name: python-gdmodule:
  Version : 0.52
  Upstream Author : Richard Jones <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.boutell.com/gd/
* License : Python style
  Description: GD module is an interface to the GD library
gd is a graphics library. It allows your code to quickly draw images
complete with lines, arcs, text, multiple colors, cut and paste from other
images, and flood fills, and write out the result as a PNG or JPEG file.
This is particularly useful in World Wide Web applications, where PNG and
JPEG are two of the formats accepted for inline images by most browsers.

* Package name: python-pypaint:
  Version : 0.3
  Upstream Author : David Moore <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://sourceforge.net/projects/pypaint
* License : Python style
  Description: pypaint provides a light Python wrapper for libart
This module provides a light Python wrapper for libart. It only
provides basic functionality at the moment - line drawing, rectangles,
polygons, arcs, fill, and simple font support.

* Package name: python-ttfquery:
  Version : 0.2.6+1.0.0a1
  Upstream Author : Michael C. Fletcher <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://ttfquery.sourceforge.net/
* License : Python style
  Description: fonttools package for querying and sorting system fonts
TTFQuery builds on the FontTools package to allow the Python
programmer to accomplish a number of tasks:
 * query the system to find installed fonts
 * retrieve metadata about any TTF font file
   (even those not yet installed)
   o abstract family type
   o proper font name
   o glyph outlines
 * build simple metadata registries for run-time font matching
With these functionalities, it is possible to readily create OpenGL
solid-text rendering libraries which can accept abstract font-family
names as font specifiers and deliver platform-specific TTF files to
match those libraries. TTFQuery doesn't provide rendering services,
but a sample implementation can be found in the OpenGLContext
project, from which TTFQuery was refactored.

I'm adding other FreeBSD utilities to the club. They are often needed for
compiling sources from FreeBSD and generaly the recommended way to do so.

As for make, smake doesn't suffice. Its BSDish cousin, pmake, might work in
some situations (I'm using it to build this package) but not all them.

Bug#141748: Status?

2004-02-29 Thread Ferdinand O. Tempel
Hey,

I've recently taken an interrest in this product, and I was looking to
implement it on some debian systems. To my surprise it's been silent
around this package for almost 2 years. What is the current status of
this package? OpenCA itself is currently somewhere in its 0.9's, and at
least debian unstable now has a sufficient high version of openssl to be
able to use it, I figure.

If noone else is currently working on this, I could have a whack at
packaging it on my own, but I'd hate to reinvent the wheel.

Please, an update.

Regards,

Ferdinand O. Tempel

I intend to adopt the pfe package.
The package description is:
 PFE (Portable Forth Environment) is a programming environment for the
 programming language Forth.
 .
 PFE is based on the ANSI Standard for Forth. It has been created by
 Dirk-Uwe Zoller and is now maintained by Guido Draheim at Tektronix.
 Tektronix has made a number of extensions: PFE is now fully
 multithreaded and you can load additional C objects at runtime to
 extend the Forth dictionary. It is best targeted for embedded
 environments since you can easily exchange the terminal driver and
 the initilization routines.

It may just be me, but I think you've got the short and long descriptions
around the wrong way. And you're not really supposed to mention the package
name over and over again - we know what the package is, because it's in the
Package: field.

Bug#221820: Debian rekall packages

2004-02-29 Thread Wesley J Landaker
Hello,

I recently started using rekall and noticed there weren't any Debian
packages for it, so I was about to file an ITP for it, but saw that you
already had (bug #221820), as well as some made some debs at
.

I'm interested in helping out with the packaging if you still feel like
you need assistance. Since you've already done some work on the
packaging, I'd like to see what you've got, but on the above mentioned
site, your most recent debs don't have the sources but just have the
binary packages. Do you have a more recent version of those
(.diff.gz, .dsc) available, or should I download the ones from the
20040214 directory?
