Bug#243838: ITP: knockd -- Small port-knocker server

2004-04-14 Thread Leo Costela
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: knockd
  Version : 0.1
  Upstream Author : Judd Vinet <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.zeroflux.org/knock/
* License : GPL
  Description : Small port-knocker server

knockd is a port-knock server. It listens to all traffic on an ethernet
interface, looking for special "knock" sequences of port-hits. A client
makes these port-hits by sending a TCP (or UDP) packet to a port on the
server. When the server detects a specific sequence of port-hits, it
runs a command defined in its configuration file. This can be used to
open up holes in a firewall for quick access.

I intend to orphan the cdfs-src package due to a lack of time and
interest. By the way: A new upstream release has been out for months now :-/!

The package description is:
CDfs is a file system for Linux systems that `exports' all tracks and
boot images on a CD as normal files. These files can then be mounted
(e.g. for ISO and boot images), copied, played (WAVE audio and VideoCD
tracks)... The primary goal for developing this file system was to
`unlock' information in old ISO images.

Description : a clone of the classic game "Paradroid" on the Commodore 64

A game inpired by Andrew Braybrook's classic Paradroid on
the good old Commodore C64 and Blizzards' Classics Diablo I/II.

In this game, you control a robot, depicted by a small white ball with
a few numbers within an interstellar spaceship consisting of several
decks connected by elevators.

The aim of the game is to destroy all enemy robots, depicted by small
black balls with a few numbers, by either shooting them or seizing
control over them by creating connections in a short subgame of
electric circuits.

Description : multiplayer text-based rogue like dungeon simulation game

MAngband is a multiplayer game based on Angband. It works through a
metaserver where new servers register. A server program is included in
the package, so you can set up your own server and play there with your
 friends.
 .
Angband is one of those games that are rogue like: A dungeon explore
 game with a textual frontend.

I've mailed with crimson about the mentioning of the GPLed xpilot code
in the COPYING file and he told me that all of the xpilot networking
code was replaced since then so no GPL violation happened there.

I personally would really prefer if the thing would be more DFSG free,
but the Moria/Angband code is that old with tons of contributors that it
isn't possible to change it. Although there are efforts to produce a
GPL version of Angband, from which MAngband (and of course the Angband
package itself, and Zangband) could profit in the long term:

 Have fun,

TreeView creates a matrix-like display of expression data, known as
Eisen clustering. The original implementation was a Windows program
named TreeView by Michael Eisen. This TreeVIew package, sometimes also
referred to as jTreeView, was rewritten in Java under a free license,
the original version also comes with the source code, but wants control

Description : PostgreSQL Visual Explain tool developed for
PostgreSQL-based Red Hat Database

Red Hat Database Visual Explain is a tool for visualizing the output of
the PostgreSQL EXPLAIN command. EXPLAIN shows users the query plan that
a PostgreSQL backend produces for a given optimizable query. The default
form of this plan is a plain-text tree, which, while easy to read for
simple queries, becomes progressively more difficult to interpret as
query complexity increases. By visualizing the text output of EXPLAIN in
an appropriate manner, the difficulty of interpreting query plans drops
significantly.
.
Written in Tcl, the tool aims for cross-platform compatibility.

Bug#193888: Outstanding ITP - openoffice.org-thesaurus-de

You could simply remove the test for the admin user. But the script still
won't work on the dump, but on the database. I don't see any way to change
this easily. The script would need to be rewritten completely.

yes,

and furthermore, I had my package ready within a few days of posting the
ITP, but there was (is?) little interest for sponsoring it :-/

Do you know a different Free alternative?

Would you be so kind to retitle this bug RFP? I just wanted to RFP
this software because I've got a hint on it but found this long standing
bug on it. Perhaps this software now meets your needs because I
regard it as active in development.

Kind regards

 Andreas.
