Well if even upstream authors *fully* recommend using development branch then I think it's stable enough. Filling artificial RC bug won't help anyone either. I will be still unable to update 'race' package which needs this development branch (well I will, but then race will have to own another artificial RC bug). Another reason is flexlay (A Generic 2D Game Editor). It can create levels for games which are already included in Debian (or are being worked on).
