The DNSdoctor configuration file reflect the policy to use. You can let it select the best test set to apply when checking a zone (use of a reverse delegation profile for .ip6.arpa or .in-addr.arpa, and a generic profile for other TLDs); but on the other hand, you can also force the use of a particular profile or create a new one (for example to test RFC compliance). DNSdoctor is a fork of Zonecheck (http://www.zonecheck.fr/) which is already packaged in Debian. The future of Zonecheck is unclear. Since the two programs can apparently coexist, I do not plan to make dnsdoctor conflicts:zonecheck. Bug#270249: O: zonecheck -- A DNS configuration checker
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I intend to orphan the zonecheck package. The package description is: The DNS is a critical resource for every network application, so it is quite important to ensure that a zone or domain name is correctly configured in the DNS. ZoneCheck is intended to help solving misconfigurations or inconsistencies usually revealed by an increase in the latency of the application, up to the output of unexpected/inconsistant results. This package is the command-line version. http://www.zonecheck.fr/ Zonecheck upstream seems no longer maintained. It's future is unclear at this time.
