Bug#248397: Grub debian package, can I help you?

2004-09-07 Thread Fabio Tranchitella
Hi, I'm interested in helping you with grub Debian package.
I'm wondering about looking at the bugs of the package and fix
some of them (especially related to update-grub).

IMHO some of the bugs of grub are quite easy to fix...
If you are interested, I can start working on it. I'm not (yet)
a DD, so when I have a (quite) complete patch I'll ask you for
a new upload.

Thanks,

Bug#270467: RFP: rfdump - tool to detect RFID tags and show information

2004-09-07 Thread W. Borgert
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

Package name: rfdump
Version : 1.2
Upstream Author : [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED]
URL : http://www.rfdump.org/
License : GPL
Description : tool to detect RFID tags and show information

RFDump is a tool to detect RFID-Tags and show their meta information:
Tag ID, Tag Type, manufacturer etc. The user data memory of a tag can
be displayed and modified using either a Hex or an ASCII editor. In
addition, the integrated cookie feature demonstrates how easy it is
for a company to abuse RFID technology to spy on their customers.
RFDump works with the ACG Multi-Tag Reader or similar card reader
hardware.

Note: According to the web site there are two GUIs, a Gtk+ one and a
Java version. I suggest to package the Gtk+ GUI and leave out the
Java GUI, as it would certainly belong to contrib anyway without
adding value for our users.

2004-09-07 Thread Dan Walrond
Package: wnpp

This package is currently in woody, but isn't maintained, so isn't

Bug#270558: RFA: pbbuttonsd -- PBButtons daemon to handle special hotkeys of Apple computers

2004-09-07 Thread Frank Lichtenheld
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I took over the pbbuttonsd package this year because it wasn't in a releasable
state and I cared about it. It should be in a reasonable good shape for Sarge
now.

I have to admit however that I do not care enough about it to give it
the work it needs. This isn't because it was bad software, it isn't or
because it was dead upstream (he answers often quicker to Debian bug reports
than I) but because the powermanagment is still a moving target and
the package is still in a state where design aspects can change very
quickly.

(Additionaly I have many Debian duties that I rank higher than this package
and I have to reduce my workload a bit)

So if someone would be interested in the package I would glad to hand it
over. I can offer sponsorship or co-maintainance, too.

The gtkpbbuttons and powerprefs packages are merely front-ends to pbbuttonsd
and all three packages should be maintained by the same maintainer. The
latter one are very easy to handle, though, only pbbuttonsd needs special
attention because of the system integration.

Description:
PBButtons daemon to handle special hotkeys of Apple computers

PBButtons is a program suite to handle the special hotkeys of an Apple
iBook, Powerbook or TiBook. With this programs the keys for the
display brightness, the volume of speaker and headphone, the mute key
and the eject key will do their job as expected.

Gruesse,
Frank Lichtenheld
