Bug#278940: ITP: socket++ -- lightweight convenience library to handle low level BSD sockets in C++
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: socket++ Version : 1.12.12 Upstream Author : Gnanasekaran(Sekar) Swaminathan [EMAIL PROTECTED], Herbert Straub [EMAIL PROTECTED] * URL : http://www.linuxhacker.at/socketxx * License : Pasted below with License Statement Description : lightweight convenience library to handle low level BSD sockets in C++ Socket++ library defines a family of C++ classes that can be used more effectively than directly calling the underlying low-level system functions. One distinct advantage of the socket++ is that it has the same interface as that of the iostream so that the users can perform type-safe input output. See your local IOStream library documentation for more information on iostreams. . Development of the original socket++ died some years ago, and a new upstream has taken control. The original socket++ ended at version 1.11. Lauri Nurmi modified the source code to make Socket++ compile with recent GCC under linux. This version is fork of the code from Lauri Nurmi which was just some enhancements to make it standard conforming at version 1.11. - -- License Original Copyright Notice: Permission is granted to use at your own risk and distribute this software in source and binary forms provided the above copyright notice and this paragraph are preserved on all copies. Bug#278978: ITP: gutenbrowser -- Project Gutenberg Etext reader
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: gutenbrowser Version : 0.7.43 Upstream Author : Lorn Potter [EMAIL PROTECTED] * URL : http://sourceforge.net/projects/gutenbrowser * License : GPL Description : Project Gutenberg Etext reader gutenbrowser is a reader for etexts produced by Project Gutenberg. It integrates with KDE. You only need the libraries to run it though. . Project Gutenberg (http://promo.net/pg/index.html) aims to make public domain literature available to the world in ASCII text format. I believe it is important to make the texts of the Gutenberg project easily available, and that this package is the best way to do this in Debian. The package used to be part of Debian, but was orphaned in bug #214931 and removed in bug #221361. The reason was the inactivity of the upstream developer. As far as I can tell, the last activity in the sourceforge CVS was 2003-11-21, when the source for the Zaurus PDA was updated. Because of this, I intend to restore this package in Debian. CC to the upstream author, to make him aware of my plans.

I don't want to do that, since we spent some effort in getting rid of extraneous packages. What I intend is to make a postgresql binary package of files needed for products like Slony-I to build.
