2005-02-23 Thread Evan Prodromou

My interest in GNUstep has fallen off just as other time requirements
have come up. I'd appreciate it if someone more interested in the
platform take over this package.

I've had very little time lately, and can't apply it to Gorm. My
interest in GNUstep has also fallen off, and since there are a lot of
developers with stronger interest, I think I should pass off this
package.

Description: Turn directories of images into static web content
Curator is a powerful script that allows one to generate Web page image
galleries with the intent of displaying photographic images on the Web, or for
 a CD-ROM presentation and archiving.
 .
It generates static Web pages only - no special configuration or running
scripts are required on the server. The script supports many file formats,
hierarchical directories, thumbnail generation and update, per-image
description file with any attributes, and 'tracks' of images spanning multiple
directories. The templates consist of HTML with embedded Python. Running this
script only requires a recent Python interpreter and the ImageMagick tools.
 .
 Homepage: http://curator.sourceforge.net/

Justification: No activity in nearly a full year, no response to pings

Bug#272264: Tomboy

2005-02-23 Thread Guido Trotter

Hi!

I'm mailing everyone interested in tomboy try to see if we can sort it out and
upload it in the archive (even if it won't probably reach sarge, unless mono is
sorted out too...).

I've seen that Ben has around some 0.1.2 and 0.2.2 packages on mentors...
No 0.3.1 though, Ben are you still maintaining it?

Luca instead on http://luca.pca.it/debian/ has 0.3.1 and so do I on
http://people.debian.org/~ultrotter/tomboy/

So... What should we do? I'm still willing to sponsor/comaintain the package,
but since I'm a bit short in free time I'd rather comaintain starting from what
I have (so I don't have to check the package, and we can build on top of it). ;)

Let me know something, anyway!

Guido

I am, I have 0.3.1 packaged.

I'd be happy to maintain the package - it would be great if you could
sponsor it.

The delay is really that the artwork is copywritten - and non-free. I
have spoken to Alex and he's happy to use the icon designed by Jakub
Steiner. I mailed him for an updated version but he hasn't got back to
me.

I'll upload 0.3.1 into mentors anyway, and we can go from there I guess.

Cheers,

Ben

Bug#272264: Packaging tomboy

Hi!

I'm try to sort out the tomboy packaging efforts on the two ITPs... ;)
You mention in one of them that there are copyright issues on tomboy: I wasn't
aware about this: what issues were there? Have they been solved in the meantime?

Thanks,

Guido

Bug#269925: about portaudio itp

2005-02-23 Thread Rene Engelhard
Hi,

Paul Brossier wrote:
as i needed the v19, i packaged it starting from your v18. the
 result is available at http://piem.org/~piem/debian/portaudio/

404.

BTW I'd do separate source packages for 18 and v19, since OOo needs
v18...

portaudio / portaudio-snapshot for example...

see my debs at http://people.debian.org/~rene/portaudio.

Bug#269925: ITP: portaudio -- Portable audio I/O

2005-02-23 Thread Rene Engelhard
Hi,

[ since OOo 1.1.5 and 2.0 are able to use portaudio/sndfile I am
interested in this package, too ]

Mikael Magnusson wrote:
I have uploaded an experimental version to mentors.debian.net:

 http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/portaudio/portaudio_18.1-0.dsc

What is the status of this ITP?

Sorry to say that but that package looks broken to me.

As far as I can see in the source the portaudio upstreams have no clue about
SONAMEs.

Currently, when you link against libportaudio.so, you get a dependency
on libportaudio.so which is bad. Either we just ship the static library
(bad also) or we fix it by giving the packages a halfproper SONAME.
Looking at the source further they apparently broke API/ABI without even
caring about SONAME stuff.

I saw you copnverted the stuff using libtool and apparently gave this
stuff the SONAME libportaudio.so.0 (judging from the package name). As I
said, since the portaudio upstreams don't seem to care about proper
version numbering this is risky.

So, to do the second method, I did

libportaudio0.0.18[-dev] and libportaudio0.0.19[-dev] packages with the
libportaudio0.0.x as SONAME so that this works at least.

I don't think this will be a nightmare judging the long release cycles -
considering that 18.1 is years old and v19 not even released yet.

Anyway, my current (source) packages are at
http://people.debian.org/~rene/portaudio/. (I included the docs in -dev
since it makes no sense to make a own package for that less kb...)

I can upload them if wished. I also can add you as co-maintainer if you
wish...

Grüße/Regards,

René

Bug#296625: add dependecy for libjack jackd

2005-02-23 Thread Rene Engelhard
Hi,

Lior Kaplan wrote:
I check the packages of version 19 and saw dependencies in libjack.

When trying to install it I encounterd problems which after looking it up
noticed that libjack has double dependency at jackd.

This problematic dependecy is covered at bug #248665. But until it solves,
please add a direct dependency at jackd.

What exactly breaks with jackd? I'd be uncomfortable to have to install
jackd when wanting to use portaudio with ALSA and not caring about
Jack...

Couldn't that be made a Recommends:?

Bug#296706: RFA: toshutils

2005-02-23 Thread Drew Parsons
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

My toshiba laptop is effectively dead, I now use an IBM laptop.

I therefore can't really use toshutils myself anymore and would like someone
else to take it over.

Rene Engelhard, the maintainer of toshset, has suggested he might do it if
no one else can, but he tends not to use X on his toshiba laptop (which is
why he uses toshset, not toshutils).

So if someone would like to volunteer for it, then great!

Drew
