 Eeks. That means that Debian's copyright file is not complete...
 Sorry for bothering you, Bartosz should update it.

Yes I forgot to update copyright file somewhere between 1.0 and 1.1
version. New FUSE packages (2.2-2) has correct copyright file.

In addition it has been accepted by ftp-master yesterday, so it should be
available in sid today.

So if anyone wants to package encfs now has ability to do so ;)

Bug#298718: RFA: slidentd -- A minimal ident (RfC 1413) daemon

2005-03-09 Thread Christian Kurz
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the slidentd package.

The package description is:
 It is similar in the purpose to pidentd but with different design
 goals. It's a very small and simple daemon that would not give out
 any sensitive information. In this regard it is not RFC compliant
 (RFC 1413 requires the daemon to be insecure by default).

This is a very simple package, that never encountered much bugs. So this
might also be an interesting package for a new maintainer.

Bug#298729: ITP: libconfig-grammar-perl -- A grammar-based config parser Perl module

2005-03-09 Thread Niko Tyni
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2005-03-09
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: libconfig-grammar-perl
  Version : 1.01
  Upstream Author : David Schweikert dws_at_ee.ethz.ch
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/~dschwei/Config-Grammar-1.01/
* License : Same as Perl.
  Description : A grammar-based config parser Perl module

 Config::Grammar is a module to parse configuration files. The
 configuration may consist of multiple-level sections with assignments
 and tabular data. The parsed data will be returned as a hash containing
 the whole configuration.
 .
 The grammar supplied upon creation of a new object is used to parse
 the configuration file and return helpful error messages in case of
 syntax errors. Config::Grammar can also generate documentation of the
 configuration file format and a template configuration file.

Bug#298763: ITP skype -- Internet telephony that just works

2005-03-09 Thread Daniel Baumann
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
* Package name : skype
  Version  : 1.0.0.7-1
* URL  : http://www.skype.com/
* License : Skype End User License Agreement (non-free)
  Description : Internet telephony that just works
[cite from #255546]
Skype cannot be packaged into Debian. It's proprietary software,
released as binary only, and therefore not suitable for inclusion, even
in the non-free section.
[/cite]
Debian Policy says:
[...] for example, if the source is unavailable. These situations will
need to be handled on a case-by-case basis.

I suggest to leave this 'case-by-case'-decision up to the ftp-masters. I
will take care about the upload of a conforming package. Until my
sponsor did an upload, interim versions are available from
http://archive.daniel-baumann.ch/.

Regards,
Daniel

* License : BSD
  Description : More resure /bin/false alternative with syslog support

(Include the long description here.)

The /bin/false in Debian[1] does not provide logging capabilities.
There seems to be FreeBSD port if the Titan[2] framework to use
/bin/nologin instead which provides syslog support.

The code is available at FreeBSD's CVS web page. Below slightly modified
and tested code for Debian. The /var/log/auth.log reads:

Mar 10 00:16:35 host nologin: Attempted login by UNKNOWN on /dev/pts/6

[1] coreutils-5.2.1/src/false.c examined

[2] TITAN 4.0 for Linux. Original idea falls to Titan project's
nologin.c which includes description:

... noshell.c This is the preferred way of doing a noshell. This
should be statically compiled (see Titan.v4.0/src1/Makefile.linux) and
should replace the shell script that disable-accounts.sh placed in
/usr/sbin/noshell.

Also mentioned in book Hardening Linux (2005) by James Turnbull,
p. 21 hardening basics:

... If the default shell points to a nonexistent file, then the user will be
unable to log in ... On Debian systems /bin/false is used. On more recent
versions of distributions these login shells have been binaries with the sole
function of flogging error messages tot syslog and exiting without allowing a
login to the system.
