Bug#293048: RFP: apt-mirror -- Mirror APT repositories easily

I don't think the size is the problem. Debian's philosophy is to break
even the program chunks into doc, libs, executables in order for user
to be able to put together tools that he needs.

As I'm not familiar with Debian packaging - and if there are already
debs - I invite any DD to adopt this utility and upload it into
experimental.

Bug#305563: ITP: pilotqof -- query Palm PDA data using SQL syntax and write to XML

2005-04-20 Thread Neil Williams
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Neil Williams [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: pilotqof
  Version : 0.0.3
  Upstream Author : Neil Williams [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://sourceforge.net/projects/pilot-qof/
* License : GPL
  Description : query Palm PDA data using SQL syntax and write to XML

 Write Palm PDA data - addresses, calendar, tasks and expenses -
 as XML to a file or the terminal. Users can run SQL-type queries on
 the live data or XML file and output the results of the query as XML.
 XML written by pilot-qof can be imported into other applications
 that use QOF, including GnuCash. SQL commands can be passed on the
 command line or from a file.

 pilot-qof uses libpisock (pilot-link) and QOF - the Query Object
Framework.

 Homepage: http://pilot-qof.sourceforge.net/

End long description.

Build-Depends: debhelper (= 4.0.0), autotools-dev, libpopt-dev,
libglib1.2-dev, libqof-dev (= 0.5.1), libpisock-dev (= 0.12),
docbook-to-man

Depends: ${shlibs:Depends}, ${misc:Depends}, libqof-0.5.1, libpisock9

The CVS codebase is almost complete but packaging must wait until the
release of code for the two dependencies; QOF and libpisock. libpisock9
is to be released at the same time as pilot-link v0.12 and the code here
is complete. I've got some more code to finish in QOF and hope to make
a file release at the same time as pilot-link 0.12 and libpisock9.

Current pilotqof file release: v0.0.1, CVS v0.0.2
Expected Release at packaging: v0.0.3

More information:

CVS: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/pilot-qof/

Sample man page:

Bug#304401: ITP: libstatgrab -- library providing interface to system statistics

 I'm packaging libstatgrab only because pystatgrab needs it ;)

If someone is interested in new packages they're available at my
homepage[1]. I think they're in overall good shape, but there are not
manpages for utilities, thus I didn't uploaded it yet. Otherwise I think
packages are in good shape to be included in Debian.

I'll try to write manpages during weekend or so.

* Package name: webauth
  Version : 3.2.4
  Upstream Author : WebAuth Team [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://webauthv3.stanford.edu/
* License : MIT/X
  Description : cookie-based web authentication using Kerberos

WebAuth is a cookie-based web authentication system built on top of
Kerberos. It relies on a central authentication server that handles all
user authentication for a domain and creates user authentication
credentials for any web server that needs strong authentication.

This package differs from mod_auth_kerb in that it will work with any
browser, not just those supporting SPNEGO, without sending the user's
password to each web site to which they wish to authenticate. It
supports a form of single sign-on in that a user only has to autheticate
once to the central authentication server and then can visit any web
site within that authentication domain without needing to reauthenticate.

This package comes in two sections, an Apache module and supporting library
for all of the servers that want to authenticate users and an Apache module
and supporting scripts for the central authentication server. It also has
Perl bindings for its library, which are used by the authentication server
user front-end. As a result, the current plan is to break it out into nine
packages:

  libapache2-webauthApache module for client web servers
  libapache2-webkdc Apache module for central authentication server
  libwebauth3-perl Perl bindings for the WebAuth libraries
  libwebauth1   Supporting WebAuth shared library
  libwebauth1-dev Development files for WebAuth shared library
  libwebkdc-perlPerl modules for central authentication server
  webauth-tests Test suite for client web server
  webauth-utils Command-line utils for WebAuth key management
  webauth-weblogin User front-end to central authentication server

Note that libapache2-webkdc depends on the S/Ident libraries for full
functionality. An ITP for S/Ident will be filed in a moment.

Bug#305573: ITP: kio-sword A lightweight easy-to-use Bible tool for KDE

2005-04-20 Thread Daniel Glassey
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Description: A lightweight easy-to-use Bible tool for KDE
 Kio-Sword provides access to Bibles, commentaries
 and other texts in an easy to use and attractive
 interface -- the Konqueror web browser. It does so
 using the SWORD Bible project and implementing a KDE
 ioslave, providing the sword:/ protocol.
Web page: http://lukeplant.me.uk/kio-sword/
Source available from deb-src http://lukeplant.me.uk/debian ./
Licence: GPL
Upstream has provided a debian package which I have checked and since I
maintain the other Sword packages for Debian I am uploading this one as
well.

Bug#305584: RFP: doorman -- Port knocking daemon for SSH and other servers

2005-04-20 Thread Jari Aalto
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: doorman
  Version : 0.8
  Upstream Author : [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://doorman.sourceforge.net/
* License : GPL
  Description : Port knocking daemon for SSH and other servers

(Include the long description here.)

How doorman differs from knockd (a Debian package)

This particular implementation deviates a bit from his original
proposal, in that the doorman watches for only a single UDP packet.
To get the doorman to open up, the packet must contain an MD5 hash
which correctly hashes a shared secret, salted with a 32-bit random
number, the identifying user or group-name, and the requested service
port-number.

Description

The doorman is intended to run on systems which have their firewall
rules turned down tightly enough as to be effectively invisible to the
outside world. The doorman adds and removes extra rules in a
carefully controlled manner.

The doorman daemon guards the door of a host, admitting only
recognized parties. It allows a server which is not intended for
general public access to run with all of it's TCP ports closed to the
outside world. A matching knocker is provided, with which to
persuade the doorman to open the door a crack, just wide enough for a
single TCP connection from a single IP address.

And now, switching to metaphor 2... :) A private server thus rigged
for silent running has greatly enhanced security. Port scans cannot
reveal it's existence. Even if it's existence is known by other means
(or the firewall isn't all that tight), possible bugs in server code
cannot be exploited; packets from unknown sources simply never get to
the bug.

The current implementation of the doorman, doormand, is suitable for
protecting only TCP services on Unix-type systems. The door-knocker,
knock, can be run under Unix, GNU/Linux, or Microsoft Windows.

The doorman is based on an original idea of Martin Krzywinski, who
proposed watching firewall logs for a sequence of packets directed to
closed ports, which method he described in Sysadmin magazine and
linuxjournal.com. You might also visit his pages at
www.portknocking.org.

Bug#305587: RFP: cryptknock -- Encrypted port knocking daemon with high security

2005-04-20 Thread Jari Aalto
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: cryptknock
  Version : 1.0.1
  Upstream Author : [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://sourceforge.net/projects/cryptknock
* License : GPL
  Description : Encrypted port knocking daemon with high security

(Include the long description here.)

Cryptknock is an encrypted port knocking tool. Unlike other port
knockers which use TCP ports or other protocol information to signal
the knock, an encrypted string is used as the knock. This makes it
extremely difficult for an evesdropper to recover your knock (unlike
other port knockers where tcpdump can be used to discover a port
knock).

Encryption of the knock string is performed with RC4 using a secret
key derived from a Diffie-Hellman key agreement. The entire process
takes 3 UDP packets. Data is read using libpcap, so no UDP or TCP
ports need to be in a listening state for the program to work.

The daemon records successful and failed knocks via syslog.
