Bug#276057: Mediawiki packaging

2005-04-27 Thread Roland Mas
Evan Prodromou (2005-04-25 17:00:30 -0400) :

I'll try to get the current version in a shape for review and put it
up in an apt repo on people.d.o/~evan sometime later this week.

 Sound good?

Fine by me, thanks.

Roland.

I would suggest not using ssh in the package name. The software can be

Another note: It might be worth mentioning that its HTTP-Proxy tunnel

Nope, though I suppose I would if I could. There are other things
higher on my to-be-uploaded priority list. And, debian-legal folk

tripple damages.

I do still use it, though. Its at the same site as listed in the bug,

Description : MP3 streaming server and tools

poc is a suite of MP3 tools and MP3 streaming programs. It can stream
MP3s over HTTP, RTP (RFC 2250 and RFC 3119) and a special protocol to
enable the use of Forward Error Correction to protect the MP3 stream
against packet loss. It can also stream OGGs over HTTP.

In addition to the streaming programs, poc contains two MP3 tools:
mp3cue and mp3cut. mp3cue can cut a big MP3 file according to a
tracklisting contained in a .cue file. mp3cut can split and
concatenate MP3 files according to time slices given on the command
line.

I think we should remove vreng because:

- it is orphaned for 173 days
- it has a release critical bug #286861, which is 126 days old
- arguably due to the above bug, it doesn't work
- it has no reverse dependencies
- it has already been removed from testing
- the version in unstable is out of date, and no one has filed a wishlist
bug requesting a new upstream version be packaged
- 12 installations according to popcon (3 votes)

Connect is the simple relaying command to make network

used as proxy command of OpenSSH. You can make SSH session beyond
   the firewall with this command,

   Features of connect are:
 * Supports SOCKS (version 4/4a/5) and https CONNECT method.
 * Supports NO-AUTH and USERPASS authentication of SOCKS
 * Partially supports telnet proxy (experimental).
 * You can input password from tty, ssh-askpass or environment
   variable.
 * Run on UNIX or Windows platform.
 * You can compile with various C compiler (cc, gcc, Visual C,
   Borland C. etc.)
 * Simple and general program independent from OpenSSH.
 * You can also relay local socket stream instead of standard
   I/O.

Severity: wishlist

* Package name: qt-x11-opensource
  Version : 4.0 beta 2
  Upstream Author : Trolltech AS
* URL or Web page : http://www.trolltech.com
* License : Dual GPL/QPL
  Description : Qt 4 cross-platform C++ application framework

Qt is a cross-platform C++ application framework. Qt's primary feature
is its rich set of widgets that provide standard GUI functionality.

Qt 4 is the next major revision of Qt, currently planned for a late Q2
release.

Preliminary packaging is available here:

  http://people.debian.org/~pyro/experimental/

I would like to group-maintain this package and have set the maintainer
to Debian Qt/KDE Maintainers debian-qt-kde@lists.debian.org in the
preliminary packages. Please let me know if this is inappropriate for
whatever reason.

I plan to maintain the packaging in a distributed version control
system, once I figure out which of the 20 or so is the most practical.

I had assumed that Martin Loschwitz would maintain QT4 packages, since he is
the maintainer of the QT3 packages. As far as I know, he has never
publicly stated such an intention, but it seems to me that you should at
least ask him about it.

It's the upstream name. For whatever reason, Trolltech has chosen
different names for each major release:

Qt1: qt
Qt2: qt-x11
Qt3: qt-x11-free
Qt4: qt-x11-opensource

Qt5 will probably be qt-x11-foss or qt-x11-freeasinspeech or something
equally annoying.

That's a pretty redundant designation for something in Debian main,
 don't you think? I'd probably go with qt4 or libqt4 or qt4-x11
 for the source package name.

I was thinking about naming it qt4-x11, but I'm not sure it's worth
deviating from upstream.

I had assumed that Martin Loschwitz would maintain QT4 packages, since he is
the maintainer of the QT3 packages. As far as I know, he has never
publicly stated such an intention, but it seems to me that you should at
 least ask him about it.

I CC'd [EMAIL PROTECTED] which I presume he reads. He's certainly
welcome to help co-maintain it.
