I concur. When I built this program locally, I called it
socks_connect, because I knew that I'd come across a binary in 6
months called 'connect', wonder what it was, and then bin it.

Peter's complaint is a legitimate and important one--it really is a terrible
package name--so please don't dismiss it. Package names are a shared
namespace, and must be chosen intelligently.

libjfreereport-java is fixed now, but you can take a look at jetty, it
has another grave bug.

That's what upstream calls the program (actually connect.c), and
package names are first-come first-serve.

Nb, also have a look at 'corkscrew' (though it doesn't seem to support
SOCKS).

I don't think creating separate package is sensible while grabc is just
8K of code. Please consider reporting wishlist bug to related stuff with

Sounds great! I'd be happy to sponsor you, I know the package well
enough to review changes and upload them. However, if you change code
you should contact upstream, he is very responsive and helpful.

So if you want to fix any bug, just go ahead, prepare an updated
package and send me the debdiff, then I can nitpick a bit and finally
upload it. Please also change the bug to ITA if you want to take the
package.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Hi,

The only packages that haven't moved to liblog4j1.2-java are:

 * libjfreereport-java: Upstream comes bundled with 1.2.3, so the switch
   should be painless. Patch at #306754.

 * jetty-extra: Upstream comes bundled with 1.2.6, and uses features
   specific to 1.2; Log4J support is either not used or already broken.
   Naive patch at #306761.

I think we can remove jakarta-log4j as soon as #306754 is fixed.

Thanks,

Bug#306755: ITP: argtable -- a cross platform ANSI C library for parsing GNU style command line arguments

2005-04-28 Thread Shachar Shemesh
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Shachar Shemesh <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* Package name: argtable
  Version : 2.4
  Upstream Author : Stewart Heitmann <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://argtable.sourceforge.net/
* License : LGPL
  Description : a cross platform ANSI C library for parsing GNU
style command line arguments

Argtable is an ANSI C library for parsing GNU style command line options
with a minimum of fuss. It enables a program's command line syntax to be
defined in the source code as an array of argtable structs. The command
line is then parsed according to that specification and the resulting
values are returned in those same structs where they are accessible to
the main program. Both tagged (-v, --verbose, --foo=bar) and untagged
arguments are supported, as are multiple instances of each argument.
Syntax error handling is automatic and the library also provides the
means for generating a textual description of the command line syntax.
Argtable is identical in user experience to GNU getopt_long (and is, in
fact, based on it), but runs on all posix platforms, Windows and Mac
OSX.

Bug#306737: ITP: q-lang -- Q equational programming language

* Package name: q-lang
  Version : 6.0
  Upstream Author : Albert Graef <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://q-lang.sourceforge.net/
* License : GPL
  Description : Q equational programming language

Q stands for "equational", so Q, in a nutshell, is a programming
language which lets you "program by equations". You specify a system of
equations which the interpreter uses as "rewrite rules" to reduce
expressions to "normal form".

The Q language supports a rich variety of built-in types, like
arbitrary precision integers, floating point numbers (double precision
64 bit), truth values, strings, lists and files. It also provides
primitives for exception handling and multithreaded execution. Q also
allows you to interface to "external" modules written in the C
programming language, which provides a means to access functions in C
libraries and employ C's higher processing speed for time-critical
tasks. Conversely, Q scripts can also be executed from C, which allows
Q to be used as an embedded language or term rewriting engine in C/C++
applications.
