The situation is actually more complex than I thought. I'll think a
little bit about it and see if there's some way to have better
contacts with Linspire people. By chance I have a Linspire box (still
brand new, never used), thus I might be considered a little more.

I'll let you know.

Race condition; I just uploaded a new upstream version of pwgen
(version 2.04) last night, and also uploaded a new package taking over

Is "coherent noise" another name for "bandlimited noise", or is it

Bug#312897: ITP: texlive -- The TeXlive system packaged for debian

Well, this is not completely true. The list of architectures on which
TeXlive runs is quite impressive, I would say:

alpha-linux
i386-freebsd
i386-linux
mips-irix
powerpc-aix
powerpc-darwin
sparc-solaris
sparc64-linux
x86_64-linux

and in fact it should also contain i386-windows binaries.

(some version restrictions may apply)

And in fact this is also a reason for TeXlive, that it runs on so many
platforms. We are using it here on our institute were a file server
serves the whole of TeXlive via nfs to several clients.

Best wishes

Norbert

Bug#314329: ITP: libuser-simple-perl -- Simple user sessions management

2005-06-15 Thread Gunnar Wolf
Subject: ITP: libuser-simple-perl -- Simple user sessions management
Package: wnpp
Owner: Gunnar Wolf <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: libuser-simple-perl
  Version : 0.8
  Upstream Author : Gunnar Wolf <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://cpan.perl.org/authors/id/G/GW/GWOLF/
* License : GPL+Artistic
Description : Simple user sessions management

User::Simple provides a very simple framework for validating users,
managing their sessions and storing a minimal set of information (this
is, a meaningful user login/password pair and the user's name) via a
database. The sessions can be used as identifiers for i.e. cookies
on a Web system. The passwords are stored as MD5 hashes (this means,
the password is not stored in clear text).
 .
User::Simple was originally developed with a PostgreSQL database
in mind, but should work with any real DBMS. Sadly, this rules out
DBD::CSV, DBD::XBase, DBD::Excel and many others - The user table
requires the driver to implement primary keys and NOT NULL/UNIQUE
 constraints.

2005-06-15 Thread Hubert Chan

Hi Gergely and Kevin,

I'm just wondering if you are still interested in packaging
ffmpeg2theora. I notice there hasn't been any activity on the ITP bug
since mid-April.

If you are not interested in packaging it, I would be interested. I
created packages for ffmpeg2theora myself (started from scratch
because I couldn't fetch Roland's packages -- the connection was
timing out). I'm not a DD yet, but I don't think it should be hard to
find a sponsor for that package.

If you are still interested in packaging ffmpeg2theora, I wrote a
manpage for it that you can use for your own package. (I also edited
the configure script so that the program compiles using sid's ffmpeg.)

My package (with the manpage included) can be downloaded from:
http://www.uhoreg.ca/programming/debian/

Nice. Thanks a lot.

Please post it to the BTS, and not to me...

Sounds good to me.

BTW, I'm going to send my manpage, and my patch for configure, to
upstream.

(The patch for configure is needed because the ffmpeg libraries in sid
want to be linked with libdts, which upstream's configure doesn't do.
My patch uses ffmpeg-config to determine the compiler flags.)

Hi guys,

Since I offered to package ffmpeg2theora some of my other volunteer
obligations have intensified and I haven't had time to dedicate to the
package. I think it would be great if Hubert took over. Sorry for
the bait & switch.

Best regards,
Kevin

Since I offered to package ffmpeg2theora some of my other volunteer

the bait & switch.

Well, Gergely claimed it first, and he said he's still interested in
it, so I'll let him maintain it.
