Thanks!

Bug#276096: eclipse 3.1 in debian

2005-08-01 Thread Charles Fry
I would like to help maintain it. I would enjoy working with others, but
I would be up to attepting it on my own if not (though that would of
course introduce some delay in the process). As the previous owners seem
to have gone mute, perhaps it is time to change ownership of this bug?

After much searching and broken links, I see eclipse 3.1 is in ubuntu.
 Here's the crucial link:

 ftp://ftp.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/e/eclipse/

Is there any reason why this can't be packaged for debian now?

Who is (intending to) maintain it? debian-java seemed rather quiet
about it, and was one of the sources of broken-links.

 Dave

Hello!

Sadly enough, I want to put twig in the hands of someone with more time.
It's quite important for the taker to regularly use this package and to
try to follow what happens in the upstream development list.

TWIG is a very good groupware app, which includes agenda, webmail, etc.
The package needs relatively little work, as upstream releases don't
happen often. Relatively, because right now it doesn't use www-config,
and it should, to make the configuration a lot simpler.

It has two open bugs, one very old and difficult to reproduce, and
another one which could be fixed by recent Evolution releases.

TWIG is made by a team of 4/5 core developers, one of them which uses
Debian. They are nice to work with, and very responsive. The twig-devel
mailing list has very little traffic.

If anyone is interested, please mail me directly, or Cc: me, as I'm not
on debian-devel anymore (Mail-Followup-To: should be set).

Description : [Biology] Library for handling transcription factor binding

TFBS Perl OO modules implement classes for the representation of objects
encountered in analysis of protein-binding sites in DNA sequences. The
objects defined by TFBS classes include:

  * pattern definition objects, currently position specific score
matrices (raw frequency, information content and position weight
matrices)with methods for interconversion between matrix types, sequence
searching with a matrix profile, sequence 'logo' drawing and matrix
manipulation;
  * a composite object representing a set of position specific score
matrices, with methods for the identification of motifs within DNA
sequences with the set of profiles from its member matrices;
  * methods for searching pairwise alignments for patterns conserved
in both sequences (phylogenetic footprinting) defined for both matrix
profile and composite (matrix set) objects;
  * an object representing DNA binding site sequence, and an object
representing sets of DNA binding sequences, with methods and helper
classes to facilitate scanning, filtering and statistical analyses;
  * an object representing a pair of DNA binding site sequences, and
an object representing a set of such pairs, for storage, manipulation
and analysis of phylogenetic footprinting searches;
  * database interfaces to relational, flat file and WWW database of
position-specifc score matrices, with methods for searching existing
databases, as well as creating new ones containing user-defined
matrices.
  * interfaces to matrix pattern generating programs

The modules within the TFBS set are fully integrated and compatible with

Description : Accessible (queryable, serializable object) result
collector for Test::Harness::Straps runs

This module is a subclass of Test::Harness::Straps. It uses callbacks in
the straps object to construct a deep structure, with all the data known
about a test run accessible within. It's purpose is to ease the
processing of test data, for the purpose of generating reports, or
something like that. The niche it fills is creating a way to access test
run data, both from a serialized and a real source, and to ease the
querying of this data.

Petal is a XML based templating engine that is able to process any kind
of XML, XHTML and HTML. Petal borrows a lot of good ideas from the Zope
Page Templates TAL specification, it is very well suited for the
creation of WYSIWYG XHTML editable templates. The idea is to further
enforce the separation of logic from presentation. With Petal, graphic
designers can use their favorite WYSIWYG editor to easily edit templates
without having to worry about the loops and ifs which happen behind the
scene.

Description : Perl Template Attribute Language - TAL for Perl

Petal is a XML based templating engine that is able to process any kind
of XML, XHTML and HTML. Petal borrows a lot of good ideas from the Zope
Page Templates TAL specification, it is very well suited for the
creation of WYSIWYG XHTML editable templates. The idea is to further
enforce the separation of logic from presentation. With Petal, graphic
designers can use their favorite WYSIWYG editor to easily edit templates
without having to worry about the loops and ifs which happen behind the
scene.

The xfce4-sensors-plugin is, as the name implies, a plugin for the Xfce4
panel which displays data from your hardware sensors. It allows you to
select the sensor values you'd like to see and the way you'd like them to
be displayed.

I think the Debian Xfce Group [1] is working on it or, at least, some
work have been done in the alioth svn [2].

Can you consider renaming the package?

Is this also the binary name? The reason I ask is because originally
the package was called trans and we just reanamed it because leo was
not yet used in Debian, while trans already is. Since your ITP is
before mine, I guess I'll have to change the binary name if it indeed
is so.

The ITP is going from 2002, and the last message from the maintainer
is from 25 May 2004, so what is the status of this ITP - is it close
to being integrated, or rather in the air (CC:ed the other leo ITP
to clarify). Please tell me, if possible, within the next days.

After much searching and broken links, I see eclipse 3.1 is in ubuntu.
  Here's the crucial link:

  ftp://ftp.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/e/eclipse/

Is there any reason why this can't be packaged for debian now?

Who is (intending to) maintain it? debian-java seemed rather quiet
about it, and was one of the sources of broken-links.

processes.

resurrect the Alioth project? If not I suppose we can start a new one.

Bug#276096: eclipse 3.1 in debian

2005-08-01 Thread Dave Beckett
After I emailed the bug, I ported the ubuntu packages to debian, fixing
a few problems with dependencies.

It takes about 1.3G of disk, 500M+ of /tmp and 100Ms of memory and 30+
minutes to build on system.

and still isn't quite working yet:

$ /usr/bin/eclipse
/usr/bin/eclipse: line 4: /usr/share/java-common/java-common.sh: No such
file or directory
/usr/bin/eclipse: line 5: jvm_find: command not found

which seems to be caused by using files in the java-common package from
ubuntu (0.23ubuntu3) which are not in the debian one (0.23).

I also think eclipse-ecj should Conflict: and Replace: ecj-bootstrap so
that installing eclipse-ecj kicks out ecj-bootstrap.

The resulting binaries I'm not wanting to host myself but 've put the
diff I've got so far at http://people.debian.org/~dajobe/eclipse/

I'm not very interested in maintaining it, but as the maintainer of ikvm
I'd like it build as ikvm's latest release now needs either
ecj-bootstrap or eclipse-ecj to compile. I'm presently using the
former.

Bug#320855: RFA: cyrus-imapd

2005-08-01 Thread Matthew Palmer
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

(Note that this is the obsolete 1.5.x series of cyrus-imapd, not the current
2.1 cyrus packages!)

As I'm transitioning all servers under my care away from cyrus-imapd 1.5, I
have little to no further interest in maintaining these packages. I would
only recommend someone maintaining them if they're in the position I was in
when I took over maintainership: they have servers running cyrus-imapd 1.5
that they can't easily transition to another mail system. Note that
maintenance of this package should include keeping a bit of an eye on
security reports from cyrus-imapd 2.1 and checking if they're applicable to
1.5.

If nobody actively adopts[1] this package, I will ask for it's removal from
unstable in a few weeks, which is my preferred option anyway.

- Matt

[1] That is, they let me know they're willing to maintain it, *and* make an
upload with themselves as maintainer.
