Bug#321378: O: vgrind

2005-08-05 Thread Jason Parker-Burlingham
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

This package has very old bugs which need to be fixed. The current
maintainer has not had enough tuits or incentive to do so in some time.
On the other hand only a very small number of people use the program
regularly and perhaps it could be quietly dropped.

Currently, lw-compat is provided by the cl-aspectl package. Pascal
Constanza provided it in the upstream tarball of AspectL. I have
changed cl-aspectl so that it does not install lw-compat files,
because lw-compat and AspectL are now seperated upstream.

I've tagged my cl-aspectl repository 0.6.5-2, so if you upload
cl-lw-compat I'd like you to sponsor an upload for an updated
cl-aspectl as well.

You can just upload the current state of the cl-aspectl repository[1],
built against the orig.tar.gz of ftp.debian.org.

Thanks. :)

This package has not been updated in some time and needs a maintainer
with more time than I have to give to it. Preferably it should be
replaced with the byacc from one of the BSDs and given an appropriate
version number. Doing so would allow the new maintainer to close bugs
 16300 and 240662.

#166300

replacing it with one of the BSDs wouldn't fix #240662
(actually the BSDs don't seem to be maintaining byacc either).

Package: dssi0.9-plugin-sineshaper
Description: Monophonic synth plugin with two oscs and waveshapers.
A monophonic synth plugin that sends the sound from two sine
oscillators through two sine waveshapers in series. You can control the
vibrato, tremolo, portamento, the tuning of both oscillators, the
oscillator mix, and the shape amount (total and split over both
shapers). There is also an ADSR envelope generator that can control the
total shape amount and the amplification (with controllable sensitivity
for both), an LFO for the total shape amount, and a feedback delay. The
shape amount and amplification is velocity sensitive, and the Mod
Wheel MIDI controller is bound to the total shape amount.
 .
This is a development version, so things will probably change - don't
use this plugin in a patch or song and expect later versions to work in
 the same way.

Bug#224842: xsysinfo adoption

2005-08-05 Thread Russ Allbery
Hello folks,

Juan Carlos, you indicated an intention to adopt xsysinfo back in March of
2004, but had never uploaded a new version. It looks like the URL you'd
given at the time to testing packages no longer works. There's also no
record of a response to the inquiry from Jeroen van Wolffelaar in May of
2005.

I'm guessing from this that you no longer plan on adopting this package,
so I'm planning on changing the bug title back to RFA or O (see below) and
removing you as the owner. If you are still planning on adopting it,
please let me know.

Hugo, the bug was originally an RFA bug, but from comments on your home
page I'm guessing that you really consider this package orphaned at this
point rather than a package that you're still maintaining until someone
picks it up. Is this correct? If so, rather than retitling the bug back
to RFA, I'll change it to O and mark the package orphaned.

If any of my assumptions above are incorrect, please let me know; I'll
hold off on doing anything until early next week.

* URL : http://ieee80211.sf.net/

Description : Source for the 802.11 (wireless) network stack for Linux

This package provides the source code for the 802.11 (wireless) network
stack module for the Linux kernel. Though it has been incorporated in
latest kernel versions, the bundled one might not be up-to-date to build
third-party wireless modules such as ipw2100 or ipw2200 which are common
 on Centrino notebooks.
 .
In order to compile these modules you need the kernel sources (or the
kernel-headers for the kernel-image packages from Debian). For compile
 instructions look into /usr/share/doc/ieee80211-source/README.Debian or
 simply use the module-assistant utility.
 .
The project's homepage can be found here:
 http://ieee80211.sourceforge.net

Note : I haven't found a clean solution to deal with the include files
that are needed by the ipw2?00-source packages.

Mike

Description : A DHCP relay agent.
Dhcp-helper is a DHCP and BOOTP relay agent. It listens for DHCP
and BOOTP broadcasts on directly connected subnets and relays
them to DHCP or BOOTP servers elsewhere. It also relays replies
from the remote servers back to partially configured hosts.
Dhcp-helper requires a 2.2 or later Linux kernel. The packet socket
facility must be available, either compiled into the kernel or as
a module. The Linux packet filter is not required, which is the
chief advantage of this software over the ISC DHCP relay daemon.

Description : City simulation game with polished GUI and graphics

Lincity-ng is a fork of the original lincity game with a more user-friendly
interface and completely new, polished isometric graphics made in Blender.
See http://lincity-ng.berlios.de/wiki/index.php/Image:Liftoff2.png for an
example.

The 0.9 release is playable with some rough edges.

As lincity-ng is more or less an almost new game and more resource demanding
than the original lincity, both should co-exist just fine.

Bug#224842: xsysinfo adoption

2005-08-05 Thread Hugo Haas
* Russ Allbery [EMAIL PROTECTED] [2005-08-05 14:25-0700]

Yes, that's correct and makes sense.

Cheers,

Hugo

Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) are designed to manage certificates
on a long term. All the data are handled through a MySQL database,
which provides a much more flexible PKI than with OpenSSL, such as
seeking a certificate with a search engine.
 .
The actual version is able to handle multiple Certificate Authorities
in one server, to publish a certificate request from a Certificate
Signing Request, to certify a request, to revoke a certificate and to
manage one or more Certificate Revocation Lists. It also able to search
for the waiting requests or certificates, to respond to OCSP requests
and to seek in and publish to LDAP Directory.

This package has not been updated in some time and needs a maintainer
with more time than I have to give to it. Preferably it should be
replaced with the byacc from one of the BSDs and given an appropriate
version number. Doing so would allow the new maintainer to close bugs
16300 and 240662.

Description : Provides a margin of safety against data loss on CD and DVD
media caused by scratches or aging.

Dvdisaster provides a margin of safety against data loss on CD and DVD media
caused by scratches or aging.

* dvdisaster creates error correction codes to compensate read errors
which are not correctable in the CD/DVD drive.

* dvdisaster tries to read as much data as possible from defective
media. Afterwards unreadable sectors are recovered using the previously
created error correction code. The maximum error correction capacity is
user-selectable.

If you create the error correction code file in time and keep it at a safe
place, you have a good chance of recovering the medium contents from typical
read errors and to transfer your complete data onto a new medium.

dvdisaster provides a margin of safety against data loss on CD and DVD
media caused by aging or scratches.

* dvdisaster creates error correction codes to compensate read
errors which are not correctable in the CD/DVD drive.

* dvdisaster tries to read as much data as possible from defective
media. Afterwards unreadable sectors are recovered using the previously
created error correction code. The maximum error correction capacity is
user-selectable.

If you create the error correction code file in time and keep it at a
safe place, you have a good chance of recovering the medium contents
from typical read errors and to transfer your complete data onto a new
medium.

Description : Unit testing and web testing framework for PHP
SimpleTest is a testing framework built around test case classes. These
are written as extensions of base test case classes, each extended with
methods that actually contain test code.
 .
These tools are designed for the developer. Tests are written in the
PHP language itself The advantage of using PHP itself as the testing
language is that there are no new languages to learn, testing can start
straight away, and the developer can test any part of the code.
Basically, all parts that can be accessed by the application code can
also be accessed by the test code if they are in the same language.
