Bug#313634: liberror-perl adoption?

2005-08-11 Thread Clint Burfoot

Hi Luk,

I've experienced a couple of delays sorting things out with my sponsor,
but should be just days away from having the new package uploaded.

Thanks,
Clint

Luk Claes wrote:

Hi

Do you still intend to adopt the liberror-perl package? Do you need a
sponsor or why didn't you upload a new package?

Cheers

Description : multiple precision floating-point interval computation

The basic principle of interval arithmetic consists in enclosing every num=
ber
by an interval containing it and being representable by machine numbers: f=
or
instance it can be stored as its lower and upper endpoints and these bounds
are machine numbers, or as a centre and a radius which are machine numbers.
 .
The arithmetic operations are extended for interval operands in such a way
that the exact result of the operation belongs to the computed interval.
 .
The purpose of an arbitrary precision interval arithmetic is on the one ha=
nd
to get guaranteed results, thanks to interval computation, and on the other
hand to obtain accurate results, thanks to multiple precision arithmetic. =
The
MPFI library is built upon MPFR in order to benefit from the correct round=
ings
provided by MPFR. Further advantages of using MPFR are its portability and
compliance with the IEEE 754 standard for floating-point arithmetic.=20

Description : Generates a CUE sheet from a CD

README sports:

mkcue generates cue sheets from a CD's TOC (Table Of Contents). It
uses code borrowed from the MusicBrainz client library, and is thus
released under the terms of the GNU GPL.

Usage is quite simple. By default, list all tracks from /dev/cdrom in
the cue sheet. An optional device argument overrides /dev/cdrom. The
-t track-count option only lists up to track-count tracks in the cue
sheet, which is handy for CDs with data tracks you want to ignore.

I hacked this up primarily because cdrdao couldn't generate a cue
sheet for half of my CDs. I use this with flac-archive, also
 available from .

Being a small program, independent on cdrdao or similar tools, it can
complement abcde to be used with the -1 flag to backup your music in a
single flac file per CD.

I request an adopter for the libversion-perl package.

I had originally intended to use this module in a script to detect
outdated Debian packages of CPAN modules, but (IIRC) would up writing
the script without it. Nowadays uscan watch files provide a general
solution for all sorts of upstreams (not just CPAN), and I believe I've
also seen some auto-generated lists for perl modules.

The package description is:
Overloaded version objects for all versions of Perl. This module
implements all of the features of version objects which will be part
of Perl 5.10.0 except automatic v-string handling.

Description : Find and use installed modules in a (sub)category

Module::Find lets you find and use modules in categories. This can be very
useful for auto-detecting driver or plugin modules. You can differentiate
between looking in the category itself or in all subcategories.
 .
If you want Module::Find to search in a certain directory on your
harddisk (such as the plugins directory of your software installation),
make sure you modify @INC before you call the Module::Find functions.

Sorry, I don't think I'll find the time to complete the packaging as I
want. So you're free to package them if you want, you can find some (non
Debian Policy compliant) package upstream.

Hi,

The x3270 package was previously removed from the archive due to
licensing issues (see #248853 for details).

I opened this ITP after the 5250 code was removed from the upstream
package. Also, I'm waiting for a clarification about one of the
licenses, before uploading.

Hi George,

Can you clarify the meaning of "public use" in your copyright statement
here: http://x3270.bgp.nu/license.html

"Copyright ?? 1989 by Georgia Tech Research Corporation, Atlanta, GA

The issue is whether your "public use" conforms to the OSI open source
definition (http://www.opensource.org/docs/definition.php).

I'd like to distribute it in the Debian GNU/Linux distribution, since
there are requests for this software.

Bug#322601: O: fenris -- Program execution path analysis tool

2005-08-11 Thread Robert Luberda
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hi,

I'm orphanig the package as I've got no time and sufficent knowledge to
maintain it. There's one RC bug reported against it (#319562), which I
think requires some help from the upstream author, but he doesn't
respond to mails.

Regards
robert

Description: Program execution path analysis tool
Fenris is a multipurpose tracer and partial decompiler, intended to
simplify bug tracking, security audits, code, algorithm or protocol
analysis - providing a structural program trace, general information
about internal and external constructions, execution path, memory
operations, I/O, conditional expressions and much more. It does not
require sources or any specific compilation method (can deal e.g.
with highly optimized, stripped static binaries), but might be a
great help during audits of open-source projects, as a unmatched
 real-time reconnaissance tool.

It's not really orphaned, because it's not even in Debian yet and Kalyxo is
everything but alive, is it?

Additionally (btw, same is for the krename-package), i'm not willing to update
it, until the C++-ABI-Translation is complete. At least the dependencies of
kdar/krename should've changed to the newer ABI, before i'm going to build
new packages. And afaik the next kdar will support a new libdar, won't it? I
hadn't really a look at it yet.

Roman

It is a library. The source package is called `mpfi', the binary
package is called `libmpfi-dev' (only a static library is provided).
So with the package name, section (libdevel) and last paragraph of
description this will be fairly obvious it is a library. But I am open
to improvements to the description (maybe the first two paragraphs
could be made shorter, but on first glance I thought the concept of
interval arithmetics was worth explaining).

I chose the mpfi/libmpfi-dev naming convention as was done for mpfr,

many digital cameras by various manufacturers including Canon, Casio,
FujiFilm, Kodak, Minolta/Konica-Minolta, Nikon, Olympus/Epson,
Panasonic/Leica, Pentax/Asahi, Ricoh, Sanyo and Sigma/Foveon.

ExifTool writes EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP and MakerNotes meta information
to JPEG, TIFF, GIF, THM, CRW, CR2, NEF, PEF and DNG images.

This package is similar to the existing libimage-exif-perl, but is in
addition capable of writing exif tags to images, and is also
implemented in perl with no dependencies to a c library.

I have very little knowledge about packaging perl libraries, but
started with the build rules from libimage-exif-perl and made a draft
package available from http://developer.skolelinux.no/~pere/debian/>.
I would like someone with perl packaging skills to take over the
package, or some co-maintainer if no-one want to maintain this package
in debian.

Yeah, but what does it *DO*? If it is a library, it oughta be called
libmpfi ... and it should be stated. If it is an utility program,
the "what is arbitrary precision foo" is secondary WRT what the
program actually does.

I notice that this ITP is already 192 days old and still has not been acted
upon.

Meanwhile, I have been spending the last few hours helping the upstream author
clean up his source tree and doing
various improvements to the software to bring it to a state where it can be
uploaded to Debian.

As it so happens, ibuild was brought up again on the debian-custom mailing list
a few days ago, along with pressing
questions about the status of this ITP.

As such, I no longer see any valid reason to wait for the initial ITP submitter
and am hereby hijacking this ITP and
proceeding with the submission of this new package to the archive.

I have worked with upstream authors to fix some problems on 0.5 RC version of
hugin :
 - non-free sourcecode
 - obsolete utilities
 - unable to build with official version of vigra library

In last CVS version, there was a code cleanup. Now there is only GPL
sourcecode, and all the obsolete utilities were removed, but hugin still need
to be built with a modified version of vigra.

So, I have two choices :
 - package last CVS version with modified version of vigra (and make a package
libvigra-hugin, or something like that).
 - wait that the changes made to vigra were merged with official version and
that this version enters into Debian.

Pablo d'Angelo (upstream author) is working on merging hugin's vigra with
official version (see
https://www.email-lists.org/pipermail/ptx/2005-July/004010.html), so I
decided to wait. But if there was no changes until the end of september, I
will package last CVS version with modified vigra version.

Bug#288769: cedilla - Debian packaging: bad news

2005-08-11 Thread Adrian von Bidder
retitle 288769 RFP: cedilla -- ascii to postscript renderer
thanks

Hi,

Some of you might be aware that I intended to package cedilla, the
Unicode-aware text renderer (and possible a2ps etc. replacement).
Unfortunately, I don't see that I can spend the time to really know this
package well enough to be able to package it - I'd have to learn at least
enough about Lisp and the runtime framework to not embarass myself with
trivial bugs on every update..., and frankly I don't care too much about
Lisp.

I still feel that cedilla (or some other Unicode aware text renderer) is
needed in Debian, so I'm really sorry to leave this.

Hmm, looks like its really time to consider this way. I wanted to avoid
becoming Debian Developer, because I'm afraid that I can't spend much time on
another project.

I'll hardly find someone as most of next three weeks I'll be offline ;-).

Description : multiple precision floating-point interval computation

The basic principle of interval arithmetic consists in enclosing every number
by an interval containing it and being representable by machine numbers: for
instance it can be stored as its lower and upper endpoints and these bounds
are machine numbers, or as a centre and a radius which are machine numbers.
 .
The arithmetic operations are extended for interval operands in such a way
that the exact result of the operation belongs to the computed interval.
 .
The purpose of an arbitrary precision interval arithmetic is on the one hand
to get guaranteed results, thanks to interval computation, and on the other
hand to obtain accurate results, thanks to multiple precision arithmetic. The
MPFI library is built upon MPFR in order to benefit from the correct roundings
provided by MPFR. Further advantages of using MPFR are its portability and
compliance with the IEEE 754 standard for floating-point arithmetic.

Bug#122149: Anna - college girl

2005-08-11 Thread Christa
These are real amateurs who have webcams on their
computers in their dorm rooms! This is not one of those
porn sites with professional girls who get paid to do this
in front of the camera, these are the average girls next door,
at college, trying to make money and meet guys!

It wont take you more then 1 minute to just check this out
what are you waiting for?

Thanks I have updated to the Build-Depends you suggested and looks like
erveything is working better now.

config was looking for openjade, so I provided it as a build-dep. Doesn't look
like it is used though.

The new packages are available at http://people.debian.org/~msp

I'm building tjxx2gant now as well without errors, so I'm not sure what the
problem is. Btw, given the mixed state with the c++ transition I am using a
few packages from testing/ unstable and experimental to provide the KDE 3.4
build enviroment, which should sort itself out over time.

The menu entries need a better locations, they are appearing under
'Lost+Found' at the moment and a couple of out issues, such as man pages,
shlib-symlink's, need to be fixed up as well. But otherwise it is looking
pretty stable.

Handbooks and documentation also appear to be in the wrong locations :-)

Do you have an account on alioth? If so then I would be happy to upload to svn
and that would make co-working a lot easier.

Mark

Hi Mark,

you can go on while I don't have time for packaging taskjuggler.

Note that Isaac (in Cc:) contacted me and he has also prepared packages.
