The rumours are entirely wrong.

Cairo has just shipped the first release (0.9.0) with APIs and ABIs now
now maintained as stable. 1.0 should appear very shortly.

It's being used by GNU classpath (for Java 2D) used with GCJ 4.0, Mozilla
Firefox (for SVG), Mono (for 2D graphics/GDI+), Gnome Pango/GTK+ 2.7+ for
all it's rendering and probably several other projects.

If anything, it's more mature and developed than ever.

It has been available and packaged by myself in Debian for several years
and on the Cairo site itself, there are debs for the entire suite of
Cairo-related software which are not appropriate for entering Debian:

  http://cairographics.org/packages/debian/

Remember guys, don't believe all you read, especially anything on

I know, that the short description is too long. This problem
is left as an exercise to the prospective maintainer.

From the tutorial on the web page:

NetworkX is a Python-based package for the creation, manipulation, and
study of the structure, dynamics, and function of complex networks. ...

The structure of a graph or network is encoded in the edges (connections,
links, ties, arcs, bonds) between nodes (vertices, sites, actors). If
unqualified, by graph we mean a simple undirected graph, i.e. no
self-loops and no multiple edges are allowed. By a network we usually
mean a graph with weights (fields, properties) on nodes and/or edges.

The potential audience for NetworkX include: mathematicians, physicists,
biologists, computer scientists, social scientists. ...

  Frederik,
I understand your concern about waiting for upstream to integrate
patches you sent so that the initial version of the package gets to
start out with a more reasonable debian diff. Has upstream taken them
  yet?

Not to my knowledge. At least I haven't heard anything from upstream yet
regarding a merge of my patches.

Could you send to this bug report the changes requested of upstream, so that
we can help with this process, or at least have these documented here.

I don't think we should wait forever and if they haven't been
accepted then I think you should proceed.

I guess you're right. I'm under an expreme work load at work these
months, though, so my time is limited.

Perhaps someone else can take the packaging to get it going, and when you
are under less pressure and have more time can co-maintain or take it over?

I and others are waiting for this package and it would be good if
something was available in the next few weeks.

I'll see what I can do. Hopefully, I'll manage to find some time in the
 upcoming weekends...

Do not apply more stress than necessary. Myself, or one of the others here
would be happy to get the package into shape and get it uploaded to get
things started, then when you have more time you can begin to do either
co-maintainence, or take over the package.

  The package available in,

http://people.debian.org/~ema/packages/

is dated Jan 06. Is this the most recent attempt at packaging
  available?

 I suspect it is.

This is Emanuele's last attempt, we haven't heard anything from him here, so
we can assume it is the latest. However, I imagine it needs to be updated to
a newer version, and perhaps integrate your changes that you sent to upstream.

micah

Bug#243938: ITP: rkhunter

Do not apply more stress than necessary. Myself, or one of the others here

things started, then when you have more time you can begin to do either
co-maintainence, or take over the package.

This is Emanuele's last attempt, we haven't heard anything from him here, so
we can assume it is the latest.

It is.

However, I imagine it needs to be updated to
a newer version, and perhaps integrate your changes that you sent to
 upstream.

Right. I'm currently a bit busy with Debian (and real life) work, so I
don't think I'll have the time to maintain rkhunter with the due care.
I think that Micah is surely a better sponsor than me for
security related packages; however, if my help is needed, I'm here.

Bug#181276: This is getting to rot already

2005-08-16 Thread Amaya
block 266343 by 181276
thanks

Hi there, Ralph and Juanma.

Facturalux version in Debian is 0.4 and upstream is 1.7. Newest
Facturalux needs qsa-x11-free, so this bug is a blocker for the one
requesting facturalux to be updated to newest upstream release.

If Ralph is still interested in packaging qsa-x11-free, maybe he could
keep us updated on the state of this package. In the meantime, Juanma,
if no input is received on the status of #181276 we should just retitle
it to RFP and publicite it on debian-mentors or maybe devel.

Thanks both for your time

The next generation LTSP is being worked on. The current plan is for
LTSP to drop building its own binaries, and become more like
lessdisks. This mean installing a chroot using normal packages, and
only providing the scripts to generate the chroot and the scripts to
boot the client.

The LTSP is in close contact with Ubuntu, and it is likely that the
next official release of LTSP will be based on Ubuntu. Matt Zimmerman
is the lead developer in this effort.

On the debian side, me and Vagrant Cascadian are working on adjusting
the ubuntu packages for use in debian. Vagrant is one of the
lessdisks developers, and we use his knowlege to pick the best of both
projects when adjusting LTSP for debian.

The first version (0.48debian1) of the debian packages are now
uploaded into unstable, and waiting in NEW. A copy of these packages
are available from
URL:ftp://ftp.skolelinux.no/skolelinux/pool/local/l/ltsp/.

Since it is non-free (due to some dubios license extensions) I will

I hereby orphan the zsi package.

The package description is:
ZSI is a Python package that provides an implementation of SOAP messaging,
as described in The SOAP 1.1 Specification. In particular, ZSI parses and
generates SOAP messages, and converts between native Python datatypes and
SOAP syntax. It can also be used to build applications using SOAP Messages
with Attachments. ZSI is ``transport neutral'', and provides only a simple
I/O and dispatch framework; a more complete solution is the responsibility
 of the application using ZSI.
 .
This package contains the wsdl2py tool as well as all documentation and
makes sure the right ZSI package for the default Debian python version is
 installed.

Bug#323453: RFA: bsmtpd -- Batched SMTP mailer for sendmail and postfix

2005-08-16 Thread Roland Rosenfeld
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I stopped using UUCP and as a consequence also bsmtpd years ago, so I
don't use bsmtpd any more myself.

I think that someone, who actively uses the package should maintain
it, otherwise I suggest to remove the package from Debian.

PXE is a specification to boot PCs from the net. Apart from BOOTP or

Description : Java date chooser bean for graphically picking a date

JCalendar is composed of several other Java beans, a JDayChooser, a
JMonthChooser and a JYearChooser. All these beans have a locale
property, provide several icons (Color 16x16, Color 32x32, Mono 16x16
and Mono 32x32) and their own locale property editor. So they can easily
 be used in GUI builders.

(I need this package to be able to package freemind version 0.8.0).

Thanks, Eric

Bug#323537: ITP: icc-profiles -- Collection of color profiles for ICC aware applications

2005-08-16 Thread Oleksandr Moskalenko
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Oleksandr Moskalenko [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: icc-profiles
  Version : 1.0.1
  Upstream Author : Various
* URL : Various
* License : Various non DFSG-free licenses
Description : Collection of color profiles for ICC aware applications

This is a collection of color profiles that can be used by color profile aware
applications such as Gimp, Scribus, xicc, and later others. ICC profile
licenses almost unequivocally prohibit modification, so this package has to go
into the non-free section. Such a collection, however, is already useful for
the aforementioned applications and will become more useful as the number of
available profiles grows and more application begin using color calibration.
