Bug#316189: lomount will be included in Xen from now on

2005-10-06 Thread Asheesh Laroia
According to
http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-changelog/2005-07/msg00172.html
, Xen will bundle lomount in their releases. So this program should not
be packaged from the www.dad-answers.com; instead, it should be taken from
the Xen source tree where it's going to be updated.

I suggest that the bug be reassigned to the Xen package; I'm CC:ing Xen's
maintainer for that reason. I don't know if lomount comes with the Debian
xen package, or if it should be included in some xen-utils package, or
what.

Bug#332396: RFP: packeth -- ethernet packet generator

2005-10-06 Thread W. Borgert
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

Package name: packeth
Version : 1.3
Upstream Author : Miha Jemec [EMAIL PROTECTED]
URL : http://packeth.sourceforge.net/
License : GPL
Description : ethernet packet generator

From the web page:

packETH is a Linux GUI packet generator tool for ethernet. It
allows you to create and send any possible packet or sequence of
packets on the ethernet.

Features:

  * you can create and send any ethernet packet. Supported
protocols:
o ethernet II, ethernet 802.3, 802.1q, QinQ
o ARP, IPv4, user defined network layer payload
o UDP, TCP, ICMP, IGMP, user defined transport layer payload
o RTP (payload with options to send sin wave of any
  frequency for G.711)
  * sending sequence of packets
o delay between packets, number of packets to send
o sending with max speed, approaching the teoretical boundary
o change parameters while sending (change IP mac address,
UDP payload, 2 user defined bytes, etc.)
  * saving configuration to a text file and load from it

Note to the packager: packETH seems to use GTK 1.2 - it would be
worthwhile to port it to GTK 2, so that Debian can drop GTK 1.2.

Bug#321808: O: ecb -- Code browser for several languages for Emacs.

2005-10-06 Thread Zak B. Elep
Sorry for the late reply, I've been quite busy moving...

Matej Vela [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

Yes, but I have to check it line by line, and this is too much:

 $ find ecb-2.27/debian -type f | xargs cat | wc

 $ find ecb-2.32/debian -type f | xargs cat | wc
19838592 71076

Custom rules are fine for big packages, but with a package this simple
they just complicate maintenance. For example, the postinst, postrm,
and prerm scripts that take up 500 lines now were previously
completely taken care of by debhelper.

But compare this increase in ./debian to the decrease of the overall
binary package size when I removed the PDF documentation: from the
original size of more than 1M, I've reduced it to only 750K. My only
miss is that I did not document this change; I'm now uploading the
updated package.

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Heya,

In my crusade to lose packages, I request an adopter for the libcurses-ui-perl
package. It's upstream development was quite stalled in the last few
months, but there *could* be some activity again.

It's rdepends are sysv-rc-conf and lire (in the archive) plus some
private projects (whose authors have contacted me in private about some
issues).

The package description is far too long:
A UI framework based on the curses library. Curses::UI contains
several widgets which can be used to build a user interface:
 .
  - Buttonbox
  - Calendar
  - Checkbox
  - Container (container base element)
  - Label
  - Listbox
  - Menubar
  - PasswordEntry
  - Popupmenu (a.k.a. pulldown- or dropdown menu)
  - Progressbar
  - Radiobuttonbox
  - Texteditor (has features like word wrapping and undo)
  - Textentry
  - Textviewer
  - Widget (widget base element)
  - Window
 .
There are also a couple of dialog windows available:
 .
  - Basic dialog window
  - Error dialog window
  - Filebrowser
  - Status window
  - Progress window
  - Calendar dialog window
 .
Curses::UI can easily be configured to use a specific language.
If you want a language that is not yet supported, please let me
know. If you want to translate the needed strings, I'll add
the language to the distribution. Currently the following languages
 are supported:
 .
  - English
  - Dutch
  - German
  - Russian
  - Italian
  - Polish

I am currently the only maintainer, but this package really needs a

 therefore has priority important.

I'm willing to co-maintain this.

Bug#260740: Still interested in SExtractor?

2005-10-06 Thread Florian Ernst
Hello there,

I just stumbled over this old bugreport...

Are you still interested in getting SExtractor into the Debian
archives again? The situation has improved somewhat as there were some
new upstream releases and the formerly conflicting package sex has
been dropped, thus removing the need for some name adjustments.

If you still want to maintain this just put together some packages (I
think it's safe to drop any reference to my short-lived and primitive
packaging from way back then), add me as an uploader and drop me a
mail.
(Although I could have sworn you made it through NM within the last
year. But I can't find your name in any of the NM lists...)

Cheers,
Flo

Bug#332536: O: heaplayers

2005-10-06 Thread Adam Majer
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I no longer use the following package. It seems it is i386 and Amd64
specific implementation and does not compile on other architectures.
Furthermore, since there is very little interest (see popcon) in this
package, if no one picks it up, it may be wise to remove it completely
from Debian.

Sodipodi loads and saves a subset of SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics)
format, a standard maintained by the WWW consortium.
 .
Sodipodi user interface should be familiar from CorelDraw and similar
drawing programs. There are rectangles, ellipses, text items, bitmap
 images and freehand curves.
As an added bonus both vector and bitmap objects can have alpha
transparency and can be arbitrarily transformed.
 .
Sodipodi supports multiple opened files and multiple views per file.
Graphics can be printed and exported to png bitmaps.

Bug#228428: preview packages

2005-10-06 Thread Matej Vela

I made some preview packages for the new gfax, if someone can't wait:

Do you expect to make an upload soon, or should we go ahead with the
libpng10-libpng12 recompile for the current version?

Thanks,

Matej

Bug#260740: Still interested in SExtractor?

2005-10-06 Thread Justin Pryzby
Hello Florian,

Yes, I'm still interested in it; I had considered asking you for
sponsorship, too, but wasn't sure if you'd be interested, and wanted
to revisit the package first.

I've never so much as had my key signed, so haven't applied for NM
yet. But, I'm going to the AAVSO (variable star) conference in Boston
8 days from now, and am in touch with 2 developers, at least one of
whom I hope to meet for signing.

How do I add you as an uploader? Just list your name in .changes? Or
do I need to fool around with gpg? :)

Thanks for mailing; I'll revisit the package tonight or tomorrow.

The current maintainer of fonttools has been inactive on this package
since 2003, and is on vacation and invites other developers to adopt his
packages:

http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/03/msg00805.html

I've prepared a new upload that fixes the remaining bugs and updates to
a new upstream version (from cvs - no new release yet):

http://bugs.debian.org/329171

I intend to adopt fonttools, search for a sponsor and have them upload
the package to debian. After that I'll probably fix some upstream bugs.

Bug#330076: RFA: clisp -- GNU CLISP, a Common Lisp implementation

2005-10-06 Thread David D. Smith
I am interested in adopting clisp. I've been using it as my primary CL
implementation for years and am also proficient in C; I believe I can
be a good maintainer for the package. Would you be willing to sponsor
me?

I've looked over the existing bug reports; none look particularly hard
except I don't have access to the Debian machines so I don't have
sparc or m68k access. Is there any particular issue you want to be
looked at?

Cheers,
